Not that it really matters at this point; both candidates sound the same these days.
"Top GOP moderate endorses Obama" by Associated Press | August 13, 2008
DES MOINES - A leading Republican moderate with a foreign policy background endorsed Democrat Barack Obama yesterday, aiding the candidate's efforts to demonstrate appeal to members of both political parties.
Former US representative Jim Leach of Iowa was among a group of Republicans, including former senator Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, who said they were crossing party lines to support Obama.
I know the thinking behind that.
"I'm convinced that the national interest demands a new approach to our interaction with the world," Leach, a foreign service officer before being elected to Congress, said in a conference call with reporters.
Leach served 30 years in Congress before losing a reelection bid in 2006. As a moderate, he was often at odds with the conservative GOP leadership, and like Obama opposed the Iraq war.
Leach predicted many Republicans and Independents would be attracted by Obama's campaign but said his decision to endorse a Democratic presidential candidate for the first time wasn't easy.
Wendy Riemann, a spokeswoman for Republican John McCain, responded that it was ironic that Leach, who supported campaign finance reform, would back Obama, who has opted out of public financing. And why cut, web Globe? I'm looking at it in my paper:
Leach also promoted Republican Senator Chuck Hagel, who toured Iraq and Afghanistan with Obama last month, as a possible Democratic vice presidential pick.
But Hagel's spokesman said later that he will not endorse either Obama or McCain and will sit out the presidential race."
I guess it is cut because it is not newsworthy; however, that never stopped them from taking up print speculating on VPs before.
Hagel a Bilderberg guest, btw.
Think that has something to do with the snip!?
Oh, by the way, here is more proof the MSM polls are bogus.
They are SELLING ANOTHER RIGGED ELECTION, folks!
"Poll of 19 faith groups says Obama is leading McCain
In recent presidential history, Republicans have swamped Democrats among voters who regularly attend worship services - and in the last two nail-biters they provided more than the margin of victory.
But a new poll out is the latest to suggest that this November will not be a repeat.
The Barna Group, which tracks faith groups, said Democrat Barack Obama is leading Republican John McCain 43 percent to 34 percent.
Obama's campaign yesterday highlighted the findings that, of the 19 faith groups tracked in the poll, McCain is only leading among evangelicals. Still, like other national polls, it shows the race appears to be tightening. Obama led 50 percent to 35 percent in the same poll in early June.
Yeah, yeah, selling us the preconceived cover story!
McCain has long been viewed with some suspicion by the Christian right, and he has not solidified support among those leaders and voters. He badly needs to do so to win in November.
The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press compiled exit poll data showing that in 2004, President Bush beat Democrat John F. Kerry 58 percent to 41 percent among voters who said they attended services once a week - and 64 percent to 35 percent among those worshiping more than once a week.
Sorry, but the EXIT POLLS were supposedly WRONG in 2004!!!!
WTF is with the LYING AmeriKan MSM, readers?
In 2000, Bush defeated Democrat Al Gore with similar margins. In both elections, those attending services at least once a week made up more than 40 percent of all voters (Boston Globe)."
