"He was a good son. Neighbors liked him. Early Sunday morning, he was killed when he drove a stolen 1997 Ford Taurus into the side of a downtown building, apparently as he fled police.... "
But there is no agenda-pushing going on with the pro-illegal immigration Boston Globe.
"Police say teen died when car hit wall; Officials say he may have been fleeing trooper" by Brian R. Ballou, Globe Staff | August 28, 2008
LAWRENCE - Eighteen-year-old Joel Abreu was, in the words of his uncle, "the same type of kid you usually see," quiet, caring, trying to make his way in the world. He had dropped out of high school but was working on a GED. He was a good son. Neighbors liked him. Early Sunday morning, he was killed when he drove a stolen 1997 Ford Taurus into the side of a downtown building, apparently as he fled police, authorities said.
The crash, at 3:47 a.m., woke several people living in second- and third-story apartments in the building near the intersection of Lawrence and Common streets. Emergency crews had to rip apart the car with heavy cutting tools to get to him. Witnesses said a blanket was placed over his body.
Hours later, many of Abreu's friends set candles and flowers where the accident occurred and wrote solemn poems and messages on the sidewalk with a black marker. Carmen Morales, a neighbor at the Beacon Court Housing Development, took her toddler grandson, Jean-Carlos Martinez, to the scene yesterday afternoon. She leaned on a parked car and cried while gazing at the candles, set in the shape of a cross. Morales traced her grandson's tiny hand and fingers onto the concrete using the marker. "Joel used to come over and play with my grandson, who was always happy to see him," she said.
At Abreu's home on Duckett Avenue, where he lived with his mother, relatives and family friends gathered to console one another.
Nestor Geronimo, Abreu's uncle, said he did not know where his nephew was headed or coming from when the accident occurred. Geronimo, 34, said Abreu had lived with him for about four months recently and described him as athletic and quiet. "He was the same type of kid you usually see, trying to enjoy life, partying. He was really a good son to my sister, and he never did anything bad to anyone."
Partying? Had he been DRINKING before he STOLE the CAR?
Never did anything bad -- except STEAL A CAR!!!!!!!!!!
The car Abreu was driving was registered to a Lawrence man. David Procopio, State Police spokesman, said the owner of the Taurus did not realize it was stolen until authorities contacted him yesterday after the crash. The owner then filled out a stolen car report, Procopio said.
The state trooper initially noticed Abreu driving with no lights and a broken side mirror on Route 114, and the trooper turned on his lights to get Abreu to stop.
At 3:30 in the morning he had the LIGHTS OFF?!!
The teenager refused and turned onto Lawrence Street. About 20 seconds later, the trooper watched the Taurus hit the side of the building. Procopio said that the trooper was not in a chase with the Taurus. Procopio would not say whether the Taurus was speeding before the accident.
Yup, he refused to stop for the police and drove into a wall!
What happens when you don't stop for the cops, readers?
Patrick Sleeper, who was staying with his mother in one of the apartments above the scene of the accident, said the Taurus "was completely crushed" and pointing straight into the wall.
Geronimo said Abreu had recently returned from the Dominican Republic after vacationing there for about three months. Abreu, his mother's only child, was born in the Dominican Republic but has lived in Lawrence since he was a baby. Abreu attended Lawrence High School but dropped out and was pursuing his GED. He worked for a brief time at a local Market Basket store and loved sports, especially football and basketball.
So what did he do here? Drug dealer? Illegal?
I'm not surprised the BG doesn't say!
He was such a great kid -- a THIEF -- but a great kid!
The SELECTIVE JUDGMENTS pushed forward by this rotten-shit AmeriKan press is quite sickening!
If it were a Muslim behind the wheel, the paper would be screaming terrorism, but because it is some illegal bum!!!!
Geronimo said, "I really don't know what exactly happened this morning because I've heard different stories, but none of that matters because he's gone. That's all [there is] to it; he's gone."
--more--"
Yeah, he was a GREAT CAR THIEF!!!
Now, readers, I am not for anyone dying in this world, but WHY is the Boston Globe LIONIZING a CAR THIEF?!!!
Maybe if he hadn't stolen the car?
