Buses and Briefs

The first item was so heartwarming and heartbreaking it received a second post from me (see "NYC's Superheroes").

However, the Globe seemed to have buses on the brain today
.

Not only was their lead a story about raises for bus workers, but the World Briefs were dominated by buses.

"At least 20 killed when buses collide

SANTO DOMINGO - At least 20 people including several Italian tourists were killed yesterday when two buses collided head-on in the Dominican Republic. A car was also involved in the crash on a highway between the eastern cities of La Romana and Higuey, the country's Transportation Authority said. Preliminary reports indicated four of the 26 Italians on board were killed. The cause of the crash was not determined (AP)."

"15 killed, 20 hurt when bus plunges

BEIJING - A bus veered off the road and plunged into a ravine in central China, killing 15 people, the official Xinhua News Agency said yesterday. All the other 20 people aboard were injured when the bus drove off a mountain road in central Henan province (AP)."

Now certainly, any lives lost is newsworthy; however, here are other briefs they could have chosen... but didn't.

Why, readers?

"Witnesses: about 40 Somalis killed in 2 attacks

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Separate attacks with roadside bombs struck near a presidential motorcade and a military convoy in Somalia's capital region Friday, causing soldiers to open fire, witnesses said. About 40 people were killed, the witnesses said, but they could not say how many died from explosions and how many from gunfire. In a separate incident, witnesses said bombs targeted a convoy carrying Ethiopian soldiers on the road between Mogadishu and the town of Afgoye. Those soldiers fired at nearby traffic and refugee camps, the witnesses said."

Couldn't find any briefing material there?

Here's another one
:

"Military: Fighting in northern Sri Lanka kills 22

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) -- Air force jets pounded Tamil Tiger fortifications in northern Sri Lanka on Saturday, destroying a rebel bunker line as fighting intensified in the country's civil war, the military said. Heavy battles Friday across the front lines surrounding the dwindling area controlled by the rebels killed 22 guerrilla fighters, the military said in a statement Saturday. Raging battles in the Kilinochchi region killed nine rebel fighters. Fighting in Vavuniya, Welioya, Mullaittivu and Jaffna killed another 13, the military said."

Why not that one, Globe?

How about this one?

"Official: 460 militants, 22 troops die in Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistan's top civilian security official vowed Friday to "wipe out" Islamic militants in a volatile tribal region where the government says more than 460 insurgents and 22 troops have died in 10 days of fighting. Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik said Pakistani intelligence have reports that about 3,000 armed militants are present in the northwestern region of Bajur, which borders Afghanistan. He said they included Pakistanis, Afghan Taliban and Central Asians. "We will wipe them out," Malik told a news conference in Peshawar.

Any reason you didn't like that one, Globe?

We all know the answer to my question about the lying, divisive, distorting, obfuscating, Zionist-controlled, agenda-pushing AmeriKan MSM by now, don't we?
