Blogging the DemocraP Convention

That's where I gotta go to get any real news.

"Bill not convinced about Obama’s Prez skills"

New York: Former US president Bill Clinton, whose role in Democrat presidential hopeful Barrack Obama’s election campaign remains to be worked out, is still far away from saying that Obama was ready to don the mantle of US President. According to the report, that’s probably not what the Obama campaign wanted to hear from the former commander in chief.

"Clinton Advisers Skipping Obama Speech"

A number of Sen. Hillary Clinton's top advisers will not be staying in Denver long enough to hear Barack Obama accept the nomination for president, according to sources familiar with their schedules."

"Protesters interrupt Pelosi speech

"A major CodePINK for Peace action disrupted the Unconventional Women symposium Monday morning, delaying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's talk with former U.S. Ambassador Swanee Hunt at the Buell Theater.

When Pelosi sat down on stage, CodePINK protestors who had infiltrated the sold-out auditorium unfurled anti-war banners reading "IMPEACH!" and "STOP THE WAR" and shouted at Pelosi.

"Nancy, you lied to my face," one yelled. "Do your job!" said another. Some peace activists say Pelosi, one of the most powerful women in American politics, sold out on the issue of the war in Iraq."

"Police, protesters clash as Dems convene in Denver

DENVER —Denver authorities were busy early Tuesday processing about 100 people who were arrested when police officers and protesters clashed about a mile from the site of the Democratic National Convention.

The confrontation erupted Monday night as police in riot gear tried to disperse a crowd of about 300 people that was disrupting traffic near the Denver City and County Building.

Police said they were forced to use pepper spray when members of the crowd, some carrying rocks, rushed a police safety line. But one protester said officers charged the protesters with no warning.

AP Television News video showed one group of protesters counting down from 10 and then charging at police. They quickly retreated as police shoved them back. Some of the officers gripped their batons, one hand at either end, as they pushed the protesters back.

Agent provocateurs!

It was believed to be the first time a police-protester confrontation turned physical and the first time officers used any kind of chemical spray since demonstrations began on Sunday, a day before the convention.

Ron Kovic, a paralyzed Vietnam veteran and anti-war activist who led a peaceful march the day before, hurried to the scene in his wheelchair from his downtown hotel after he heard about the confrontation. "We must remain nonviolent. We must have the high moral ground," he told the crowd.

RIGHT!!!

Which is why ANY VIOLENCE is being caused by AGENT PROVOCATEURS!! That is their job! To DISCREDIT the PEACE MOVEMENT!

DENVER -- On Monday, Denver police spent the day intimidating and provoking peaceful protesters. By day's end there were entirely too many police with too much time on their hands. They were eager to arrest people in Denver. It didn't matter if the people were simply walking down the street. Medics were even detained.

Flashing a wide variety of weapons, Denver police positioned police gangs around the peaceful Food Not Bombs. Police even made a single file procession through the heart of Food Not Bombs' peaceful dinner. As people were eating, Denver police made one of the silliest processions ever through a dinner of rice and lentils.

After spending the late afternoon in bizarre staging and intimidation tactics, Denver police began spraying people with pepper spray and shoving people randomly by day's end Finally, apparently bored and itchy to arrest, they arrested people for their dog cages.

That is not how AP described it at all!
