The Price of a Bag of Weed

The words inhumane instantly popped through my mind.

"Two arrested in marijuana case

Prince George's, Md., police said yesterday they have arrested a deliveryman and another man they believe are involved with a scheme to smuggle 417 pounds of pounds of marijuana by shipping packages addressed to unsuspecting recipients - including one sent last week to the wife of the mayor of Berwyn Heights. The Prince George's Sheriff's Office SWAT team and county narcotics officers raided the home of Mayor Cheye Calvo and his wife, Trinity Tomsic, after intercepting a package shipped through Fed-Ex addressed to Tomsic and filled with 32 pounds of marijuana. During the raid, officers broke down Calvo's door and shot and killed the family's two black Labrador retrievers (Washington Post)."

WTF?

Why? What did the INNOCENT DOGS ever do to anyone?

Of course, it is o.k. for the government to run the biggest drug operations out there!!!!

Update:

"Berwyn Heights mayor to ask for investigation into raid" by Doug Donovan August 7, 2008

"Berwyn Heights' mayor today asked federal officials to investigate possible civil rights violations stemming from last week's raid of his Prince George's County home by police officers who shot and killed his two dogs, his attorney said.

Mayor Cheye Calvo and his wife, Trinity Tomsic, asked for a U.S. Department of Justice inquiry during an afternoon news conference today outside their Berwyn Heights home.

Calvo's home was raided by the county Sheriff's Office SWAT team and narcotics officers after a package of marijuana addressed to the house was seized. Police obtained a search warrant and officers broke down their door and shot and killed the family's two black Labrador retrievers, Payton and Chase.

During the raid last Tuesday, Calvo's mother-in-law was handcuffed and laid on the kitchen floor next to the body of 7-year-old Payton, said Timothy Maloney, the couple's attorney. At the same time, the mayor -- wearing only his underwear and socks -- was forced to walk backward down his stairs, hands in the air, before being handcuffed and laid on his living room floor.

And since it happened to an important person, CNN gave it breaking coverage.

I wish the low-level commissars would wake the fuck up regarding the fascism.
