Malik asks militants to surrender before talking peace
PESHAWAR: The government on Sunday rejected the offer of the Bajaur chapter of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan to unilaterally cease fire in the agency where fierce fighting between the security forces and militants has been raging for over two weeks, claiming scores of lives.
Taliban militants announced a unilateral ceasefire and offered peace talks to the government, but threatened action if security forces did not stop the ongoing offensive. The military authorities said they heard such reports from the media but did not receive any instructions from the government to stop the operation against the militants launched two weeks ago.
