The New York Times Hates the Chinese

That's the feeling I perceived from these back-handed comments.

That "paper" is nothing but hurtful now.

"Beijing Puts On Happy Face for Games, Without Wrinkles" by Charles McGrath

BEIJING — All Olympics are a little unnatural, of course: they are biennial intervals of make-believe when the world pretends to be a happier and friendlier place. And all Olympics depend on volunteers, high school and college students especially. The 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, for example, enlisted squads of smiling, bright-eyed students from Brigham Young and the other local universities.

But the Beijing Olympics are remarkable for the immense number of young people working at the Games, seemingly all of them cheerful, polite, friendly and determined to create a good impression.

They seem polite and friendly, but... but what?!

Why the DISTRUST and SUSPICION?

“We want to let the world know that China is powerful and that the Chinese people are very friendly,” said Wang Fei, a 20-year-old college sophomore who was working at the newsstand in the news media center.

The volunteers are part of a much larger script for what may be the most carefully stage-managed spectacle in Olympic history. The volunteers are so polite and friendly, in fact, that it can be a little disconcerting. It would be Stepford-like if the eagerness to please were not so seemingly genuine.

Seriously, WHAT are they COMPLAINING ABOUT?

The Chinese are TOO NICE?

What it reminds me of is the typical Zionist projection tactic, whereby they project what they are upon a designated target.

Yeah, the Chinese aren't sincere about welcoming people to their great party and moment in the sun, uh-huh!

As for Stepford-like qualities, you need go no further than the shit-eating AmeriKan public over here!
