Romance at the Restaurant

"Co-worker sentenced in stabbing; Gets 8 to 12 years for manslaughter" by Martin Finucane, Globe Staff | September 17, 2008

A 39-year-old Dorchester man was sentenced yesterday to 8 to 12 years in prison for fatally stabbing a co-worker he believed had ruined his romantic prospects with a female colleague.

Ivan Lorenzo Sosa was convicted in the 2006 slaying of Carlos Borrero Jr., 30, in the kitchen of a restaurant at The Westin Copley Place hotel.

Forgive me, but the name and occupation beg the question: Illegal??

Prosecutors said Sosa and Borrero had been friends. But Sosa blamed Borrero for his failed romance with a server who worked in the restaurant, saying that Borrero had talked about him behind his back. Prosecutors said Sosa also was nettled by Borrero taunting him over the woman's lack of interest in the romance.

Are you kidding me?

This was done over a WOMAN?!!!

Speaking of woman and romance, whatever happened to Julie Donaldson?

The trial was scheduled for Sept. 8; how come the Globe never got back to it?

That's what the agenda-pushers do with so many items -- never get back and investigate them.
