Just an interesting passage I ran across as I reviewed my history textbooks from school. This was found in the introduction to the 13th century.
"By the end of the thirteenth century, noticeable changes in weather patterns were occurring as Europe entered a period that has been called a "little ice age." A small drop in overall temperatures resulted in shortened growing seasons and disastrous weather conditions, including heavy storms and constant rain."
