THE POLL: The Field Poll, presidential race among likely California voters.
THE NUMBERS: Barack Obama 52 percent; John McCain 36 percent.
OF INTEREST: McCain got a bounce out of the Republican National Convention, narrowing the 24-point lead Obama held in California in July. McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate seems to have solidified partisan support for the two tickets and potentially hurt him among independents.
