But, but, but... I LUV Wal-Mart?!
Waaaaaahhhhhh!!!!
"Times not tough for Wal-Mart; CEO says the world's largest retailer is 'uniquely positioned' to succeed despite economy's woes
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is benefiting as rising gasoline, food, and medical costs limit the amount US consumers have to spend on everyday needs, chief executive H. Lee Scott said.
Isn't that nice to know as you eat your breakfast bowl of shit -- if you can afford one.
Those expenses are "eating up more and more from our customers' pockets," Scott told shareholders yesterday at the annual meeting in Fayetteville, Ark. "Wal-Mart is uniquely positioned to succeed, not just in this economy, but in these times."
Almost as if it were PLANNED, huh?
The world's largest retailer said yesterday that May sales at stores open at least a year rose 3.9 percent, faster than it predicted, as lower prices on groceries, medicines, and laptop computers attracted shoppers who are also grappling with job losses and the worst US housing market in a quarter century....
Investors have pushed Wal-Mart's shares to near a four-year high, including a 23 percent gain this year. Wal-Mart fell $1.43, or 2.4 percent, to $58.37 yesterday. International sales may exceed $100 billion this year, said Mike Duke, Wal-Mart's international chief. The retailer is still exploring opportunities in Russia, he said.
In the United States, Wal-Mart is targeting consumers "living paycheck to paycheck just to get by," said Schoewe.
In late April, Wal-Mart started cashing rebate checks for free, targeting Americans who are to receive more than $100 billion in economic stimulus checks through July."Yeah, WHERE is THAT CHECK?! I haven't gotten mine yet!!!!
By the way, I saw Daniel Estulin on the I.N.N. network (which local cable access picks up), and he described this as part of the economic plan of the ruling elite.
He sketched out a scenario where corporations will literally direct how and to whom you are going to give your money.
It appears the process has begun.
