Philly's Privatizated Schools Are Phailing

The article is strange.

It purports to claim that the privatizations of Philly schools have failed, yet they have improved according to the piece.

"Of the six schools being de-privatized, four are run by the New York-based for-profit school management firm Edison Schools Inc., which operates in 19 states and Washington, D.C., as well as in London. Edison was founded in 1992 by a group of educators, scholars, and business executives, including former Yale University president Benno C. Schmidt.

Sounds like a globalist effort.

So they have you either way, don't they?

Make $$$ of making kids dumb, or get the state schools to brainwash the kids.

And for some reason, people, I have a problem with making a PROFIT off OUR KIDS -- especially with TAXPAYER $$$!

The privatization effort was highly controversial from the beginning, with the arguments shaded by politics and ideology, and was opposed by many in the local community who feared that their schools were being used essentially to test an unproven theory: that the private sector using market principles could manage schools and produce results better - and cheaper - than the government.

Not when it is FOR-PROFIT it isn't!

And the government? They are
WORSE!

Let's face one thing squarely, readers: It is ALL TAXPAYER $$$$!!!!!!

And this is so difficult for a former Mass. lefty to accept, but LOCAL CONTROL of SCHOOLS -- period!!!!!!
