Remembering Benazir Bhutto

Governments always honor those of their own class whom they have murdered.

Think JFK, Americans.

And the living war criminals?

They get statues and monuments after them.

What I found strange about this piece is their is no mention of the accused "terrorist"
Mehsud!

An oversight, or.....

And how come the MSM -- or anyone, for that matter -- isn't investigating that event?

"Pakistan honors slain leader on her 55th birthday; To honor Bhutto, death row will get clemency" by Munir Ahmad, Associated Press | June 22, 2008

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistani officials commemorated Benazir Bhutto's birthday yesterday with plans to rename an airport after the slain former prime minister, build a monument on the site of her assassination, and grant clemency to thousands of death row inmates.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced the measures in a speech to parliament, which observed a minute of silence for Bhutto, who would have turned 55 yesterday.

Bhutto, who was head of the Pakistan People's Party, was assassinated in a bombing and shooting attack outside a December election rally in the garrison town of Rawalpindi. The country was stunned by her death, and Bhutto's party went on to win February elections and form the new governing coalition.

Her birthday was marked in low-key ceremonies at her mausoleum in the town of Naudero, where dozens of somber supporters gathered to offer prayers. Some carried large portraits of her and demanded the arrest of her killers....

The Pakistan government said it was a lone killer, so WTF?

Gilani, a leader in Bhutto's party, used the occasion to recommend that President Pervez Musharraf clear the nation's death row and commute all its death sentences to life in prison as a tribute to Bhutto. Musharraf was expected to approve the measure.

The mass commutation, which would not prevent future death sentences from being handed down, would be a major victory for human-rights activists.

Last week, Human Rights Watch, an organization based in New York, said that about 7,000 people, nearly one-quarter of all prisoners in Pakistan, were awaiting execution. In 2007, 309 prisoners were sentenced to death and 134 were hanged, the group said....

HOLY CRAP!!!!

How come we never hear about ALLY Pakistan's BLOOD THIRST, huh?

Iran puts a couple of guys to death, and it's a least a BRIEF!

The government also decided to rename Islamabad International Airport after Bhutto and to erect a monument at the spot where she was killed as a reminder that "here was a leader who gave her life for the rights of the people of Pakistan," Gilani said."

Yeah, the question is WHO TOOK IT?
