Let 'em Eat Candy

Yes, AmeriKans, a candy bar is a MEAL now!

Just like ketchup is a vegetable!

"Candy bars, during the Depression, were really America's fast food.... marketed in a way that would suggest to people that this was a cheap meal." --says Steve Almond, author of "Candyfreak"

You KNOW what they are made of, too, don't you?

YUP!!!!

"Despite sour economy, candy doing sweet business; Consumers see treats as a cheap splurge" by Martha Irvine, Associated Press | June 25, 2008

CHICAGO - Analysts at The Nielsen Co., which tracks consumer habits, go as far as calling the candy business "recession-proof," compared with other discretionary items, such as tobacco and carbonated beverages (though beer also tends to do well when the economy is hurting).

Given a choice between being miserable and straight, and miserable and drunk, which one would you take?

They note that consumers are cutting back on longer-distance shopping trips to save gas. As a result, they are spending more at drug and convenience stores with big, easy-access candy sections.

Then there's the "feel good" factor.

"A dollar candy bar treat in the face of filling up the gas tank for nearly $100 can be a powerful psychological motivator," says James Russo, vice president of marketing for Nielsen's food sector.

Candy's reputation for getting people through tough times is longstanding.

During the Great Depression, a nickel chocolate bar was sustenance. Some had names such as "Chicken Dinner."

Obviously, THIS is WHERE WE ARE HEADED, AmeriKa; otherwise, there wouldn't be an ARTICLE in the PAPER!!!

Yup, a "SHIT DINNER" candy bar for... DINNER!!!

"Candy bars, during the Depression, were really America's fast food," says Steve Almond, author of "Candyfreak," a book that examines the economic history and allure of chocolate. "They were expressly marketed in a way that would suggest to people that this was a cheap meal."

Bought with a CHEAP PIECE of CURRENCY!

Such strategies helped some candy makers and sellers weather a weak economy.

One of them was the McKeesport Candy Co., a wholesaler in Pennsylvania that was established in 1927. Now the company does business on the Internet as Candyfavorites.

But even if consumers are willing to spend, this isn't an easy time for the candy industry, says Jon H. Prince, president of both companies.

"Are we going to say that business is easier now that gas is $4 a gallon? Probably not," he says, noting such factors as the cost of transporting candy.

Oh, boo-hoo, go suck on a... candy?!

It's also a time when you're likely to see the biggest candy makers consolidating, much like the airline industry, says Pat Conroy, a consumer products specialist at accounting and consulting firm Deloitte & Touche USA LLP. The rising price of ingredients is part of the issue.

Earlier this year, the Hershey Co., one of the nation's biggest candy makers, raised its prices and, last year, announced job cuts and a plan to close several US manufacturing plants, causing merger speculation.

And just try telling me their isn't a GAY AGENDA being pushed!

What FUCKING SICKIES are in the ADVERTISING WORLD anyway?!

"Heinz urged to hold the mayo - and the kisses" by Associated Press | June 25, 2008

LONDON - Heinz Co. said viewer complaints prompted it to pull a British television advertisement for mayonnaise that showed two men kissing.

WTF?!?! In an ad for MAYONNAISE?

The ad for Heinz Deli Mayo depicted a kitchen scene involving two children, a father, and a male deli cook with a New York accent, whom the children addressed as "Mum." At the end of the ad, the cook kisses the father as he leaves for work.

Oh, IN FRONT OF CHILDREN even!!!!

PERVERTS!!! FUCKING PERVERTS!!!!

Where are the SEX ABUSE CHARGES, huh?

The Advertising Standards Authority said it received 202 complaints, some that said the ad was offensive, inappropriate, and unsuitable for children.

Heinz said the ad was withdrawn because of "consumer feedback." A Heinz spokesman said the company apologized if it had offended anyone.

"Heinz pulled the ad in the UK because our consumer research showed the ad failed in its attempt to be humorous and offended people on all sides of the debate," said a second spokesman Michael Mullen. "Heinz apologizes for its misplaced attempt at humor and we accept that this ad was not in accordance with our long-standing corporate policy of respecting everyone's rights and values."

Seriously, WHAT the FUCK were you guys thinking?!

Seriously, how can this NOT BE an AGENDA PUSH, folks?!

I, for one, am tired of having GAYNESS shoved down our throats (no pun intended) in the DIVISIVE, Zionist-controlled MSM, folks!!!

British gay rights group Stonewall said it was shocked Heinz had yanked what it called an "innocuous" ad and urged gay consumers to boycott the company.

Go ahead; you guys are 10% of the market at best!

The ad, which was launched on British TV just over a week ago and was meant to run for five weeks, was taken off the air Friday, Heinz said.

The ad did not run in the United States."

Gee, I WONDER WHY!!

And WTF?

The ad was GOOD ENOUGH to subject the British to but not US?
