The Killadelphia Funnies

Isn't it nice that

"Local newspapers have poked fun at the initiative."

Yeah, I'd expect nothing less form shit-rags that lied us into wars!!!

Not like newspapers ever help solve anything.

From what I've observed, they only want to create diversions and divisions to push some other agenda --even if it means lying about it.

"Call to combat crime losing volume; Philadelphia wonders where volunteers went" by Erika Hayasaki, Los Angeles Times | June 8, 2008

PHILADELPHIA - Wazier El remembers the excitement that day in October when nearly 10,000 men gathered in a stadium to send a message to drug dealers, gang members, and gun-toting criminals: The violence must stop.

In a matter of days, the men vowed, they would patrol the streets of this city, where the homicide rate is among the highest in the nation.

But seven months later, many volunteers who once felt so full of hope have given up. The movement - "Call to Action: 10,000 Men: It's a New Day in Philadelphia" - has faced organizational and financial struggles. Frustrated with leadership, some volunteers have had second thoughts.

In the meantime, things in Philadelphia are not much better.

In May, police Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski was killed during a bank robbery - the third killing of an officer in Philadelphia in two years. Two days later, a news helicopter captured more than a dozen white police officers kicking and using batons to hit three black shooting suspects. Parts of the footage aired on television stations nationwide and reached audiences across the world via the Internet....

Yeah, noticed how the police brutality and the fascism get minimized?

Never mind that the kids were innocent, stopped as they were signaled to, and then were yanked out the car and pummeled.

I am so sick of the newspapers pushing police state agendas!!! Fuck them!!!

Following the beating, Mayor Michael Nutter said there was no indication that it was racially motivated. He did not excuse the officers involved.

"We are deeply disappointed in the actions that we witnessed on the videotape," Nutter said recently, adding that 19 officers identified in connection with the beating were put on desk duty. (Some have since returned to patrol.)

THAT'S IT?!? Some are BACK on PATROL?!

This nation is over, America. It is too late for you now.

The internal affairs department and Philadelphia district attorney's office are investigating.

Yeah, whatever. They actually mean, COVERING UP!

That's what "official investigations" are!

For El, 58, a carpenter who lost a son to Philadelphia's street violence two years ago, the mayor's expressions of concern are not enough. The city could have prevented such violence from escalating, he said, if it had worked closely with the 10,000 men who wanted to help.

Groups of volunteers had gone through safety training. El, who received a certification of completion Jan. 26, was appointed a squad leader. Then he heard from some men whom organizers had not contacted. When El brought the issue up, those in charge blamed technical problems. So he pressed on, knocking on doors with about 30 other volunteers, handing out fliers asking others to join. Cold weather cut down patrols. Once-eager volunteers drifted away.

This month, El told organizers that he, too, was quitting.

"People don't want to see progress," El said. "I am fed up . . . I see people dying in the community."

Sort of encapsulates the way I feel about the AmeriKan people and the wars.

"We knew something like this could have been prevented," Tyrone Johnson, 53, said of Officer Liczbinski's death.

"Maybe one of those guys who did the shooting could have been one of the guys we talked out of crime," said Johnson, who attended orientation, which drew 10,000 volunteers, in 2007.

Johnson, a chef, remembered the excitement he felt at the time, the hope that maybe his city would finally shed the nickname "Killadelphia."

But after the first meeting, he didn't hear anything again.

"I know I'm not the only guy who went there and is still scratching their head like, 'What happened?' "

"Call to Action" headquarters is 3 miles from City Hall. It sat empty one recent Friday afternoon. Purple fliers, left over from promotions for the October gathering, papered the windows. No one picked up calls to the main phone line.

Local newspapers have poked fun at the initiative. A headline on a Philadelphia Inquirer column read: "10,000 men - where are they?"

Here's an idea for a headline, Inquirer:

"4,000 U.S. Dead in Iraq -- Where is the U.S. Media?"

How about that one, huh?

Problem is, mine is NOT FUNNY!!!

And NEITHER is YOURS!!!!

A weekly paper featured a cover illustration based on the "Where's Waldo" series of books, depicting dozens of colorful figures spray-painting graffiti on buildings, holding sticks, and robbing people with guns. The headline read: "Can You Find the 10,000 Men?"

Here's another funny headline:

"Can You find the MISSING TRILLIONS war contractors have looted during this war?"

How's that one, AmeriKan MSM?

You know, WHAT EXACTLY do AmeriKa's newspapers do -- other than TELL LIES to ADVANCE WAR AGENDAS and DIVISION???

But leaders say the nonprofit program is moving forward.

Several hundred men began patrolling the streets in April after a winter hiatus, said organizer Norm Bond.

There have been 113 homicides this year as of mid-May, compared with 147 at about the same time last year.

Oh, and the rate of crime is DOWN?!? WTF, MSM?

Then WHY the HATCHET JOB on an idealistic, if failing program and why the CONTRADICTORY TONE in the article?

Why the HOSTILITY to CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT, shit AmeriKan MSM?

I think I just answered my question with my question, didn't I?

Some attribute that drop to the initial momentum behind the 10,000 volunteers. But everyone, is bracing for the summer - traditionally the most violent season."

Oh, yeah, it'll get worse anyway.

Never mind those statistics and numbers proving the MSM to be a bunch of liars.

And don't worry, they will be back in a couple of months "confirming" their lies and telling us how right they were and what a great job they did (see Iraq coverage).
