"Aid flights to Darfur cut back by UN; Funding dwindles as conflict endures" by Stephanie McCrummen, Washington Post | June 11, 2008

NAIROBI, Kenya - Humanitarian flights that deliver doctors, aid workers, and supplies to remote areas of Sudan's western Darfur region are being cut because of lack of funding, the UN World Food Program said yesterday.

The threat of bandits on Darfur's roads during the past year has forced aid groups to increasingly rely on helicopters and other flights to gain access to the region, where an estimated 2.5 million people are displaced because of conflict.

The air transport is provided by the UN's Humanitarian Air Service. But funding for the service, which costs about $77 million a year, has become tenuous as the conflict has dragged into its fifth year.

Yesterday, the air service grounded one of its six helicopters and reduced the number of flights because of lack of funds.

The United Nations said the air service - a fleet of 20 planes and six helicopters - needs an infusion of $20 million by June 15 to maintain full service in the next few months.

The program has a total budget shortfall of $48 million this year, UN officials said.

Yup, TRILLIONS for OCCUPATIONS, BILLIONS to BANKS and ISRAEL, but they can't come up with a lousy $50 MILLION to AID PEOPLE?!?

You'll have to excuse me, readers, but I'm going to grain of salt the urgency from now on regarding Darfur.

It doesn't make the papers for... forever, and then they trot it out for... what?

WHAT AGENDA is being PUSHED?

Oh, and the SIEGE of GAZA?

Where's that today -- or any day, for that matter?

"People are weary," said Laurent Bukera, head of the North Darfur Area Office for the World Food Program, referring to donors. "After so many years, people think that this service is a given. I find this really worrying that we have to wait until the last minute" to scramble for funds.

About 14,000 aid workers are in Darfur, which is home to the largest humanitarian relief effort in the world.

Bukera said that the loss of one helicopter immediately translates into hundreds of aid workers being grounded.

Specialists estimate that 400,000 people have died during the conflict in Darfur, which began with the Sudanese government and its allied militias waging a brutal campaign to crush rebels who complained of economic and social injustice.

I don't know if I should take at face value the WP's "background myths" anymore, readers.

Because of the shit lying media and the shit-lying schools, I don't know what to believe anymore!

And the death toll rose by 100,000 in a few days?

"The UN says 2.5 million people have been forced from their homes by the Darfur conflict, and the death toll could be 300,000."

WTF?! Why is the MSM embellishing (or obfuscating) again?

Why isn't this FRONT PAGE news if it is such a genocide, dammit?

Of course, 6 MILLION are dead in the Congo, but that never makes my Zionist-controlled War Dailies.

But suspicious events like plane crashes sure do!!!

"Airliner in Sudan ignites, kills dozens; More than 100 flee Airbus A310 before it burns" by Mohamed Osman, Associated Press | June 11, 2008

KHARTOUM, Sudan - A Sudanese Airbus carrying 214 people veered off the runway in a thunderstorm and burst into flames late yesterday, killing dozens unable to escape the inferno. Officials said more than 100 people fled the plane before it was engulfed by towering orange flames.

After TWA 800 and 9/11, I view ALL plane crashes as suspicious and this one no different.

The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that 103 passengers and all 11 crewmembers survived. It said some other passengers might have gone home directly from the crash on the rain-soaked runway after crewmembers helped them through the emergency doors.

The death toll wasn't immediately clear. Reports right after the crash said about 100 were killed, but officials later put the toll at dozens without being more precise....

The fire's roaring flames dwarfed the Airbus A310's shattered fuselage as firefighters sprayed water with little apparent effect, Sudanese TV footage showed. Members of the media were kept away but an Associated Press reporter heard several explosions after flames engulfed the aircraft.

A survivor at the airport told Sudanese TV the landing was rough, and there was a sharp impact several minutes later.

"The right wing was on fire," said the passenger, who did not give his name. He said smoke got into the cockpit and some people started opening emergency exits. Fire soon engulfed the plane, he said....

The AP reporter at the scene said the plane appeared to have left the runway as it landed at Khartoum International Airport.

Ibrahim, the airport director, told Sudanese TV that the plane "landed safely" in Khartoum and the pilot was talking to the control tower and getting further instructions when the accident occurred.

"One of the engines exploded and the plane caught fire," Ibrahim said. He said bad weather did not cause the crash, which he blamed on a technical problem.

Spokesmen for the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board in Washington said they were monitoring the situation.

WhyTF would they be involved in a SUDANESE AIR CRASH, readers? WTF?!?

The Khartoum airport was shut down until this morning, officials said.

Sudan has a poor aviation safety record.

In May, a plane crash in a remote area of southern Sudan killed 24 people, including key members of the southern Sudanese government."

Excuse me? That SURE DOES STINK!!!!

And I just caught a waft of MORE STINK!!!!

"World Briefing | Africa: Kenya: Plane Crash Kills 2 Officials"

"A Kenyan cabinet minister and an assistant minister were killed when their small plane crashed near the Masai Mara game reserve. Kipkalya Kones, the roads minister, and Lorna Laboso, assistant minister for home affairs, both in the leading opposition party, were flying to a town west of Nairobi to oversee a local election."

STINK!!!!!

CUI BONO?

PLEASE don't ride in any small airplanes, Barack Obama!!!!
