"Forgive me for being cynical, but why does one think that money to build and maintain this base came out of either the US Marine Corps budget or the Army Corp of Engineers, thereby shielding the actual funding amount that goes to Israel each year?
The U.S. has built and filled with weapons, bunkers all over Israel, ostensibly as supply depots for US forces operating in the ME.
Except this doesn't wash, since the US has bases and storage depots all over the ME.
The ones in Israel are for Israel's use, as the people in Lebanon found out--again--in the Summer of 2006.
Does Israel pay back what it pilfers from these US storage depots? Who knows for sure, but its highly unlikely.
The actual amount of money that our craven Congress gives to Israel each year may never be known. Who's to say that the 2.3 TRILLION dollars reported missing on September 10, 2001 from the Pentagon by former Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, who's to say a large chunk of the money didn't go to Israel? But those questions, along with over 3,000 people, were buried the next day, on 9/11.
Even before then and since, the government has repeatedly failed audits, with the Pentagon, NASA, Homeland Security and the Energy Department being the biggest losers of our money.
And those are the four departments that a vicious, sadistic and Apartheid state like Israel, would love to get technology and weapons from. Especially the Energy Department, since that is where control and the financing of America's nuclear arsenal is located.

Here, at Israel’s new National Urban Training Center, the Israeli Defense Force’s Ground Forces Command is preparing forces to fight in four theaters: Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank and Syria."
