The Return of Reverend Wright

Just about says it all, doesn't it, readers?

UP YOURS, shit MSM!!!!!

"'Deafening' applause for Rev. Wright as he returns to Chicago church"

"Rev. Jeremiah Wright was greeted with "a thunderous, almost deafening, round of applause and standing ovation" last night when he returned to his Chicago church for a service held in his honor, Chicago's CBS2-TV reports. The station has both a story and a video report.

Wright recently retired as pastor of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, which counts Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama among its members. The clergyman has been in the national spotlight because videos of some sermons he gave in the past show him saying -- among other things -- that blacks should sing "God damn America." The attention led Obama last month to deliver an address on the subject of race and the things that Wright had said. Obama condemned Wright's words, while also saying he could no more disown the pastor than he could disown a member of his family.

At last night's service, CBS2 reports:

Several speakers defended Wright against what they feel have been unfair attacks in the media.

Addressing the recent controversy, Trinity's current pastor the Rev. Ottis Moss III, said "the church will not be silent." He went on to stress the importance of the church having a voice.

Another speaker, Dr. Conrad Worrill praised Rev. Wright's theology as "consistent with the black church's tradition of freeing us from oppression."

Worill went on to liken the present day persecution of Wright to that of Jesus Christ saying Jesus was not politically correct and "Jesus upset the status quo" and so did Rev. Wright.

Wright did not speak, the station says. He has not yet spoken publicly about the controversy.

The Chicago Tribune writes that "thousands gathered" last night and that:

Wayne Watson, chancellor of the City Colleges of Chicago, called Wright one of his heroes.

"You have fought the fight. You are a man's man. You have maintained independence from corporate elite and from politicians. I guess what I'm saying is you are your own man. You are our man. You are God's man."
