"Officials work for release of citizen"
BERLIN - US authorities in Afghanistan have had a German citizen in custody since early January on grounds that he was on a US base without authorization, Germany's Foreign Ministry said yesterday. It said it is working to gain the release of the German, a man of Afghan origin. Der Spiegel said the man had traveled to Kabul to visit relatives and was on the base to buy a razor. US officials declined comment (AP)."
