"California: Water Plan is Revised"
San Diego took another step toward a pilot project that would purify treated sewage to increase the supply of drinking water in a reservoir. The City Council voted 5 to 3 to override a veto by Mayor Jerry Sanders, who had rejected the plan as costly, unnecessary and unpopular with the public. The city’s Water Department will now write a plan for the project, which would make San Diego, confronting possible water shortages next year, one of the few places in the country that augments drinking water reservoirs with purified sewage (New York Times)."
