"California: Board Members Recalled Over Blackwater Plan"
Residents of Potrero, a rural community in east San Diego County, voted to oust five members of the town’s planning board who endorsed a bid by Blackwater Worldwide to build a training camp. Three of the board’s nine members have already been removed because Blackwater opponents revealed that they had been improperly appointed. Election officials counted the recall ballots Tuesday night, said Deborah Seiler, registrar of voters for San Diego County. The five board members elected to fill the seats of the recalled board members oppose Blackwater’s development of an 824-acre tract of land near Potrero, close to the Mexican border, people on both sides of the debate said (New York Times December 13, 2007)."
