Boston's School Crises

Your tax dollars at work, Bostonian!!!!

"Busing for private pupils scrutinized"

"by Tracy Jan, Globe Staff | February 29, 2008

The Boston public schools, facing a growing deficit that will lead to severe budget cuts, spend more than $2 million a year to bus students to private and parochial schools around the city, even though the school system has no legal obligation to transport most of them.

Many of the buses traverse the city with far more empty seats than students. More than a dozen of the bus routes transport fewer than 10 students, according to a report presented to the School Committee this week. One bus brings a single student to a South Boston Catholic school, while another carries just one student to a private school in Hyde Park....

I'm not against this per se because we waste billions upon billions on wars; however, keep in mind this is from the same cats who will be up your asshole on your global-warming footprint.

Yet here they have empty buses cruising the city!

As public school parents have gradually learned about the practice, many have expressed anger that Boston is still transporting private and parochial school students whom the city is not legally obliged to bus. Critics of the service say it has become an expectation among tax-paying private school parents that would be politically costly to dismantle....

How come this matters to politicians, but their is no cost to supporting wars the American public wants ended, huh?

The elementary school students who attend private and parochial schools catch the bus on the same street-corner stops that serve public school students. Those private school students ride buses designated to stop at their specific school, leaving many routes serving only a handful of students....

Yup, the same government that will crawl up your butt over greenhouse gas emmissions!!!

The school system faces a $33.2 million shortfall in next year's $815.5 million budget....

Wasted money, all of it. Or else why are our kids so fucking stoo-pid?

Eliminating transportation for private and parochial school students could save the city up to $1.5 million a year, which includes driver wages, benefits, and fuel...

The School Committee... fearful of potential protests from private and parochial school parents... say they are not ready to quit busing private and parochial school students...."

That's the thing about these programs... they get created and the money flows forever -- needed or not.

That's why this country is going broke!

And look at what happens when students stick up for themselves.

Welcome to FASCIST AmeriKa, students!!!

"200 protest tardiness penalty"

"by Megan Woolhouse, Globe Staff | March 1, 2008

Two hundred students at the John D. O'Bryant School of Mathematics and Science in Roxbury protested a crackdown on tardiness yesterday by blocking doors and hallways and preventing hundreds of other students from getting to class on time.

School officials locked down the school after the protest, banning people from entering and exiting and keeping students in the same classroom the last two periods of the day.

Sort of like being in a JAIL, right?

Do me a favor, parents, home-school your kids so they don;'t have to put up with this shit.

"The headmaster put the school in safe mode," said Jonathan Palumbo, a spokesman for the Boston school system. "Any issue going on in the hallway needs to be addressed quickly."

The protest was unusual at the school, which typically has a well-behaved student body of 1,300 and boasts test scores in math that are among the top in the state....

Oh, it was GOOD KIDS who are SICK of the SHIT!!

GOOD for you, kids!

I'm proud of you!

.... When students came back from the recent school vacation week, the school's headmaster, Joel Stembridge, found many more students loitering in the hallways and taking seven to eight minutes to get to class, instead of the typical four minutes, Palumbo said.

Stembridge rounded up many of the tardy students Tuesday, bringing them to the auditorium and requiring them to write "a reflection" on why they were late.

WTF?!?! He's treating the kids like they are 2-year-olds!!!

NO WONDER they reacted the way they did!!

What a CONDESCENDING ASSHOLE this guy is!!!!

Yesterday the students responded. More than 200 blocked hallway and classroom doors, causing the entire student body to be late for class.

Palumbo backed Stembridge's actions. "Apparently they're upset with a reinforced policy," Palumbo said. "They did this, as opposed to taking a more healthy approach to voicing their displeasure."

And what would that have been, pray tell?

Stembridge said no such protest took place in his four years at the school. "We have 1,300 wonderful students and 1,300 amazing things going on here," he said. "It's sad that this is what we're in the newspaper for."

And it sad you did what you did!

Sig Heil, shitter!
