There are two types of political candidates. There are those who start strong and those who finish strong. Republican Ron Paul says he's shooting for the second option.
The Texas Congressman is in Sioux City Tuesday spreading what he calls the Ron Paul Revolution. KMEG 14's Denise Hnytka explains.
Compared with this summer, Ron Paul says he's feeling much more optimistic about his standing in the race for the Republican nomination. He told a Sioux City crowd he hasn't hit his peak just yet.
Bill Stegmeier hops on the South Dakota for Ron Paul Mobile. It's a bandwagon that's logged close to 7,000 miles. Inside the van are just a couple of guys looking for someone to believe in. They're guys who haven't found it in the typical front-runners.
"He supports the average working man," said Nicholas Hudelson. "And that's what I am. I work for a living."
Ron Paul says they're the reason he's making a surge this late in the game.
"It's really striking a cord with a lot of people," said Ron Paul. "A lot of young people have joined the campaign, and its reflecting in the fundraising. The fundraising actually gets easier and easier for us."
It's a humble take on politics in a campaign of celebrities and endorsements.
"I know I don't want to be last," he said. "We're striving to go to the top. That's about all I can say. For a long time we've been written off. We'd win all these polls after the debates and people would say it's just a couple of his friends that can use the internet."
But in reality, it's a couple of friends and the Ron Paul Mobile.
Ron Paul was actually the Libertarian candidate in the 1988 Presidential Election. But now the party wants him back in their corner. Ron Paul says while their offer is flattering, he has no intention of going back to the Independents.

"Ron Paul Dominates Both GOP And "Open" Caucuses --..."
"On December 7, 2007 in cities and small towns across the country, Democrat, Republican and "Open" Caucus groups formed independently online and Caucused face-to-face on National Caucus Day. The first-ever National Presidential Caucus is now history and the results are in.
On the Republican side, Ron Paul obliterated the field for the GOP generating the preference of 50% of GOP Caucuses. Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson follow, generating 33.3% and 16.6% of Republican Caucus preferences, respectively.
Among votes in Open Caucuses, Ron Paul wins with 62.5% of Open Caucus votes, followed by Barack Obama (18.75%), Fred Thompson (12.5%), and Hilary Clinton (6.25%).
Results were tallied from 19 independently formed Caucus groups (Republican, Democrat, and Open) that met on Friday, December 7th, 2007 in Dallas, TX (2D); Sarcoxie, MO (O); Boise, ID (R); Needham, MA (D); Carthage, MO (O); Manhattan, KS (D & R); Pineville, MO (O); Richmond, MO (O); Costa Mesa, CA (O); Springfield MO (R); Winston-Salem, NC (O); Overland Park, KS (R); New York City, NY (O); and Joplin, MO (R), Warrensburg, MO (R), Roselle Park, NK (D), and Philadelphia, PA (O)...."
And yet, we get this from the shit MSM:
"Sneering shills for the Elite dumbfounded by Ron Paul grassroots campaign"
"Priceless.'Old Media' is making itself obsolete with moronic comments by the paid shills for the Establishment, trying to explain away the Ron Paul phoenomenon with a typical dismissive attitude expected of the controlled media attempting to manage the election by pre-selected choices that only answer to upholding the status quo while American sovereignty and liberty goes up in flames because of execrable policies.
The Elite is losing its grip on the minds of the American public with its ever-waning influence.
Up yours, Elite!
They lost their grip on mine!
And WHY did Ron Paul win today's debate?
"Weak dollar 'bad sign,' Ron Paul says""Sioux City, Ia. - Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul expressed concerns Tuesday that the weakness of the U.S. dollar will affect the nation's foreign trade picture.
The Texas congressman spoke to about 200 people at the Sioux City Convention Center on a day when the Federal Reserve cut a short-term interest rate and the stock market took another plunge.
"Our dollar has had support from overseas, and these people have been willing to loan money to us. Now, things are changing, and it's going to change this whole country," he said. "A weak dollar is a very, very bad sign."
Paul said his fiscal policies have drawn increasing numbers of supporters to his campaign as the economic situation has worsened.
Paul advocates doing away with the Federal Reserve, which he blames for every economic downturn the United States has experienced in the past 80 years.
When the dollar starts dropping, he said, "it reflects that the foreign governments and foreign holders of our money are losing confidence in us, and I think this is a very significant thing."
The devalued dollar is playing a "major role" in the foreign trade picture, he said. It was easier to print and export U.S. dollars and buy items overseas, and "Good jobs have gone overseas," he said.
“It’s sort of like the individual with endless credit when all of a sudden, the bank quits lending to him, and his standard of living goes down,” Paul said. “Our dollar has had support from overseas and governments have been willing to loan money to us. Now things are changing and it’s going to change our whole country.”"
Yup, drawn supporters LIKE ME -- once a Democrat!
