The Ron Paul Campaign

AOL "spam proof" Straw Poll

Republican hopefuls are chasing the Democrats' Hillary Clinton. Marvelous.

Now, where is Ron Paul in all of this heady discussion about these Republican "leaders," as it were?

The "polls" say he is at about 4 percent. Whose polls? AP? Gallup? Fox News? Certainly not us.

These so-called polls are as biased and abusive as their sponsors.

The ugly and awful truth of the matter is that Ron Paul has actually won each and every televised GOP debate to date, and the GOP establishment is too embarrassed to admit it or even back him against the Democrat hopefuls.

As an analogy, this is clearly a case of the Oscars vs. the People's Choice. However, the People's Choice Award does not have to hire a Big Seven accounting firm to conceal the ballots. The "people's poll" is winning this one hands down, and Ron Paul is leading the way.

Pity the losers of the Iowa caucuses and upcoming primaries. I give my support to Ron Paul for president of these United States. - William Gaillard, Prescott

Ron Paul on MSNBC: Are His Supporters Even Represented in the Polls?

"Gambling 911
Thursday December 20, 2007

"If the media doesn't handle it correctly, that's their problem not mine," said Congressman Ron Paul in regard to the story of his incredible record-setting 24-hour fundraising of more than $6 million being buried in the back of some major newspapers.

"Gambling911.com has been reporting on the Ron Paul campaign and its phenomenal support for over nine months now," expressed Carrie Stroup, reporter for the website who has been following the Ron Paul run. "We're more inclined to watch the betting trends than we are the polls."

And Ron Paul explained on MSNBC Tuesday why the polls may not be very accurate these days as in past years.

"Some of our people don't have land-based phones, they just have cell phones and many didn't vote in the last go-around so they don't even get called," Paul said.

He even used the man behind Sunday's biggest one-day fundraiser ever, Trevor Lyman, who Ron Paul said "has never voted before in an election".

"He's 37 years old but he just represents one of millions who is totally disgusted, so something special is going on."

Paul disclosed he will be spending his money heavily in Iowa as opposed to saving it for a state that has a strong Libertarian streak, New Hampshire.

"The MSNBC segment was an excellent one," declared Stroup. "It was fair towards the political candidate who is deserving of recognition by the mainstream media simply for the amount of money raised, regardless of what these conglomerates might think of him."

Ron Paul is listed with 10-1 odds of becoming the next US President at Sportsbook.com, a 4th place showing but in close proximity to Mitt Romney (8-1 odds) and Mike Huckabee (9-1 odds).

Ironically, Tuesday was the first day that Ron Paul was not generating the most number of hits among US Presidential candidates at the Gambling911.com website. It was, of all people, John Edwards gaining interest....but perhaps not for the right reasons. Reports began surfacing late Tuesday evening that Edwards may have fathered a love child out of wedlock. The National Enquirer was due to release the story, complete with photos. Whether such a story can be confirmed or not remains to be seen, but these are certainly interesting days ahead as we inch closer and closer towards the primaries.

Karl Rove Worried About Ron Paul "Momentum"

"Karl Rove Worried About Ron Paul "Momentum"; Bush's brain fears "bandwagon effect" could trump national recognition in early Republican primaries" by Paul Joseph Watson Prison Planet Thursday, December 20, 2007

"

Without mentioning his name, Karl Rove made it clear during a recent appearance on Hannity and Colmes that he is worried about people jumping on a bandwagon and supporting a candidate who picks up momentum as a result of the early Republican primaries being bunched together tightly.

Since Rove had already discussed the other Republican candidates in the Fox News piece, he could only have been referring to Congressman Ron Paul.

The man who was dubbed "the architect" and "Bush's brain" told Hannity he was concerned that the thick and fast style of the early primaries would hinder Americans from making a "more considered judgment," increasing the likelihood of a "bandwagon effect" overcoming "national reputation." Here's the quote in full.

HANNITY: Do you lean towards one strategy over the other? Or you don't want to say?

ROVE: I don't want to say. I —

HANNITY: You do, though.

ROVE: But it is interesting to see that everybody has made their strategic bets. I'm not certain, incidentally, that this is helpful for the country, for this to be settled so quickly. I mean, people do need the time — this process ought to be spread out over time, in my opinion, because it allows more people to participate, more people in the country to develop a deeper understanding of who the candidates are, and for the people of America to make a more considered judgment.

This thing is happening so quick on so many different battle fronts that I'm not certain, regardless of who makes the — who bet on the right strategy, there is going to be a bandwagon effect, no, national reputation is going to count — no matter which way that works out, I'm not certain it is necessarily in the best interest of the country.

With the media desperate to exalt Mike Huckabee's campaign as some kind of alternative to the standard Neo-Con fare, it's clearer than ever that the establishment are trying to run a dead horse against Hillary Clinton to ensure her victory.

As polls have shown, only Congressman Ron Paul could beat Hillary should they go head to head for the presidency, and that's why people like Rove are scared stiff of the Texan building momentum during the key early primaries.

We are committed to finding a new way of doing politics that is free from the domination of big money, political party bosses and the corporate-owned media.

"Ron Paul wins GOP straw poll"

"JOSH VOORHEES
Aiken Standard
Friday, December 21, 2007

The front-runners for the Republican presidential nomination had to take a back seat in Aiken Thursday to a long-shot candidate with a small but loyal band of supporters.

Texas Congressman Ron Paul, a strict constructionist, was the surprise winner of the Aiken County Republican Party presidential straw poll with 30 percent of the vote.

"I don't necessarily know if our results will hold come Jan. 19 during the state primary, but I do think the poll reflects the opinions of those that are very active in the party," said Andy O'Bryne, party chairman.

Paul, who up to this point has been treated as a footnote in the GOP race, is known for a loyal base which routinely raises money, buys political signs and even stages campaign events on its own accord in the Texan's name.

In a recent South Carolina poll conducted by CBS News and released Wednesday, Paul was not even listed in the final results. Typically the congressman receives somewhere between 5 and 7 percent in national polls.

"I think Congressman Paul has energized the libertarian portion of the party," said O'Bryne. "They are a mature but active group. But I think that some of their issues are not necessarily in line with the consensus of the rest of the party."

Among the issues that Paul and his supporters have disagreed with the party base on is the ongoing war in Iraq. Paul, who favors isolationism in regard to foreign policy, has repeatedly spoken out against the war and for the return home of U.S. soldiers.

While Paul was the winner of the straw poll, some of the more well-known candidates also placed well. In second was Fred Thompson, a former Tennessee senator, with 28 percent, followed by MikeHuckabee, former Arkansas governor, with 17 percent; Mitt Romney, former Massachusetts governor, with 11 percent; Arizona Sen. John McCain and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, both with 6 percent; and California Congressman Duncan Hunter, with 3 percent.

The straw poll, which was relegated to one of the smaller rooms in the Aiken County Council complex because of a council meeting, was a standing room only affair as more than 100 people showed up to cast a vote in support of their favorite candidate to succeed President George W. Bush in the White House.

Ron Paul is leading in the national polls! 33%

by Robert Werden
Nolan Chart
Friday December 21, 2007

The pollsters insist that polls conducted over the phone are the most scientific way of accurately assessing a candidate’s viability. This statement couldn’t be further from the truth. What it all boils down to in the end is votes. On Caucus and Primary day you cannot phone in your vote and for all the Ron Paul supporters you cannot click your vote either. You must show up in person and cast your ballot live.
The Ron Paul brigade has proven they can vote. Ron Paul wins every single internet poll as well as almost all cell phone text message polls after network debates.

The question media pundits are constantly asking regarding the huge internet voting and fund raising success of Ron Paul is can he translate his tremendous support into Caucus and Primary votes?

Well let’s take a look at what that means. To the media, polls are success. Polls determine who gets the most media coverage. Polls determine who gets endorsed by big names in both politics and from Hollywood.

The Ron Paul supporters have proven online votes and text message votes, but have they proven votes in person, where you actually have to leave your computer or couch and travel somewhere, listen to a bunch of stump speeches then wait in long lines to vote? The only test of that are straw polls. Straw polls are actually a rehearsal for Caucus and Primary day. They are held in almost every state and require a person to travel (sometimes hours away), sit through speeches and stand in lines to vote. Furthermore straw polls are also GOP fund raisers, so in order to vote you often have to pay about $35 to $55.

So now you’re getting to the question the media pundits are asking. The translation to actual votes!

There have already been close to 50 official straw polls throughout the country. There is a website that keeps track of these events and tallies the scores just like the Media and pollsters do. Now remember straw polls are the closest you can get to actual voting. There is no spammers clicking on 50 internet polls per day, there is no phone polling to the miniscule reminant of the decimated Republican Party. These are real people taking the day off to go and support their candidate. So without further ado here are the results.

Source www.usastrawpolls.com

As you can see the candidate with the most number of Straw poll wins is Ron Paul. Also notice that the current break through front runner in the phone polls Mike Huckabee has won only 2 straw polls.

Candidate# Wins

Ron Paul 25

Fred Thompson 24

Mitt Romney 22

Rudy Giuliani 7

John McCain 5

Mike Huckabee 2

Duncan Hunter 2

Alan Keyes 0

Now here is the really shocking statistic of these real life votes. If you look at the total straw polls and average Ron Paul’s polling percentage the same way phone polls are averaged, the percentages of votes for Ron Paul is 33.02%.

Source http://www.ronpaul2008.com/straw-poll-results/

33.02% is the media pundits answer to their question of translation to actual votes.

So if you were hesitant to throw your endorsement towards Ron Paul because of the Medias assessment of viability, your likely in a genuine position to justify Ron Paul as your candidate.

I say, welcome to the Ron Paul Revolution.

Ron Paul: the GOP Front-Runner

".... The only measure by which Ron Paul is doing poorly are the telephone polls. He is slowly growing even by this measure, but generally lags well behind the other candidates. Even while marveling at some of his successes, talking heads always remind us that he is “nowhere in the polls” and quickly turn the discussion to questions of how a candidate who obviously does not have much support could possibly be doing so well in other respects. It is time to acknowledge that the polls are flawed, and the only thing that needs explaining is how a candidate with so much popular support could be doing so poorly in them.... "

Ron Paul will win by a landslide

"Analysis/Opinion-Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman, Ron Paul, can win the presidency. Contrary to the pundits and media propaganda, Ron Paul is best positioned to win the GOP nomination.

Ron Paul has more money than his opponents and is just starting to gain momentum. As a result of massive popular support Paul’s donor base is huge and donors are not close to reaching contribution limits. Paul’s opponents are going broke and their donors are maxed out. Ron Paul may raise 20 million this quarter and chances are he’ll raise more the next quarter.

To get an idea of how strong Paul’s support is consider this. Ron Paul received donations from over 123,000 people this quarter. If one out of 100 voters donate to a presidential candidate that means Paul has the support of over 12 million primary voters. My guess is that less than 1 out of 100 voters donate in a primary.

Of Paul’s opponents, John McCain and Mike Huckabee are broke and don’t have the funds to compete on Super Tuesday. Both candidates appear to be media creations in this election and don’t have that much popular support. If it weren’t for undeserved free media they wouldn’t be on the radar screens.

Giuliani was forced to go with his big state strategy because he ran the risk of getting creamed in early primaries. He appears to be a lead balloon and runs the risk of losing some of those big states to Paul. Thompson just hasn’t taken off. There is a chance he could get revived in South Carolina but he may not make it that far.

Romney is self financing his campaign and can go the distance, but how much of his personal wealth is he willing to squander?

Recent commentaries and political talk have mentioned the possibility of a brokered convention. This is an early admission by pundits that Ron Paul can’t be stopped, and a hope that he won’t have 50% of the delegates allowing his opponents to broker a deal to deny him the nomination.

Paul is unique among GOP candidates because his support is national. He can compete in every state.

The primary calendar has been frontloaded which was deliberate to keep second tier candidates (candidates not bought and paid for) from having a shot at winning the nomination. It is doubtful that when planning the schedules anybody had a clue that Ron Paul would be one of the only candidate that could be competitive on February 5th

Iowa, Wyoming, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina, Florida, Maine are all up for grabs prior to Super Tuesday which is on February 5th. Given the low expectations Paul only needs to win one of these to show that he can win prior to Super Tuesday.

The Iowa caucus on January 3rd will be a tough start for Paul. He hasn’t spent that much time in Iowa and may not have the organization that Romney does to win the caucus. Placing in the top five is all that is needed there. A third place would be huge.

Two days later on January 5th is the Wyoming Caucus. This state is a neighbor of Utah and Romney may have a strong organization here as well. Paul may do well here though.

January 8th in New Hampshire is where the campaign really starts for Ron Paul. He doesn’t need to win it but he probably will. Buchanan won this state in 1996 running on similar campaign themes with 27% of the vote. Paul’s support is much broader.

Paul’s odds look good for Michigan on January 15th. The state is a foreclosure war zone and Paul’s blaming of the Federal Reserve for creating a housing crash may resonate well.

January 19th Nevada and South Carolina are up for elections. Paul should win Nevada and has an outside shot at South Carolina.

On January 29th Florida is up. This is the state where Giuliani has circled his wagons. If he’s still in the race it will be an uphill battle for him especially if Paul has momentum generated by a couple victories. There is evidence of Paul support in Florida on the ground just by observing bumper stickers and yard signs on residences but Giuliani also has some visible support.

Of course, if Paul wins New Hampshire the momentum generated from that victory is likely to steam roll his campaign through all of the above mentioned states setting him up for the knock out punch on Super Tuesday.

If Ron Paul doesn’t have the nomination sewed up on Super Tuesday, Paul’s delegate rich home state of Texas will be the final nail in the coffin come March.

The point is it is already too late to stop Paul. He’s going to win the Republican nomination.

As a general election candidate Ron Paul will win a 50 state landslide against any Democratic nominee.

Ron Paul’s opposition to the war in Iraq, and defense of the Bill of Rights, and Civil Liberties, may actually dig deeply into the Democratic vote and overwhelmingly attract independents to his campaign.

His support for secure borders as an integral part of national defense is also a very popular issue that transcends parties.

If Ron Paul is the GOP nominee it won’t matter if Bloomberg or anybody else runs as a third party candidate. Once people go to Paul’s website and review his issues and record they either reject Paul’s ideas or they are sold. Paul will not lose any supporters to another candidate once they are in his camp.

Unlike media propaganda, the ideals of peace, freedom, and prosperity, are very mainstream. To the aging baby boomer population now on fixed incomes, Ron Paul’s challenging of the Federal Reserve’s ‘Inflation Tax’ is most welcomed. To the rest of America feeling the double whammy of an ‘Inflation Tax’ and progressive federal income taxes, Paul’s calls to end the income tax are a cause for celebration.

In fact, Paul’s calls for reforming the monetary system, the income tax, foreign policy, and protecting the Constitution, are a lot more mainstream than pre-emptive nuclear war, no borders, and a police state are.

Those media generated polls are as valuable as the media propaganda that pushed the nation to war in Iraq. People should have as much faith in polls as they do the Easter Bunny and computerized voting. Ron Paul is going to win by a landslide."

Analysis/Opinion-Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman, Ron Paul, can win the presidency. Contrary to the pundits and media propaganda, Ron Paul is best positioned to win the GOP nomination. "

"The Ron Paul Movement Makes Polls Irrelevant"

True American
Sunday, December 23, 2007

The mainstream media's precious polls have become entirely irrelevant in the race for the Republican nomination.

Why?

Ron Paul.

The following are the reasons why the polls that usually show Ron Paul in the single digits are going to be proven to be worthless when the Republican primary results starting coming in:

1. The polls count on predictable behavior where only certain people (2004 George W Bush voters) are going to show up to vote. This means that a majority of Ron Paul's supporters (Independents, disgruntled Republicans, Libertarians, & Democrats) are not even included in these polls.

2. Ron Paul has been left out of a lot of the polls. He's been hidden as "6 for other" in many of them. There have even been reports that when people select Ron Paul that they've been dropped from the polling database.

3. The polls do not consider the strength of support. Most supporters of the so called "mainstream" candidates such as Rudy Giuliani & Mitt Romney don't really believe in their chosen candidate. They know deep down that their candidate is nothing special and just represents "politics as usual." They know that these people will say anything to be elected. They usually support their chosen candidate based on very superficial reasoning that can be knocked down easily by any sort of logical questioning.

A. These soft supporters could easily be convinced to support someone else (like Ron Paul.) This is particularly important in caucus states.

B. These soft supporters are not as likely to actually go out and vote. This is particularly important if there is bad weather on the day of a primary election.

4. The polls do not take into account that many of the primaries are open. An open primary means you do not have to be a Republican to vote. This means that all of Ron Paul's independent and Democrat supporters will be able to vote.

5. Many Democrats and independents have changed party affiliation to Republican to be able to vote for Ron Paul in closed primary states. Of course these people are not included in the polls.

Because of all of this I predict that Ron Paul's supporters will do more than surprise the MSM in the upcoming primaries. I predict they will shock the MSM. I expect Ron Paul to win Iowa & New Hampshire.

"Ron Paul Shines on Meet the Press; Russert comes out swinging but gets knocked out before the final bell"

Nolan Chart
Sunday, December 23, 2007

It was the absolutely most aggressive interview I have ever seen by Russert on "Meet the Press" He dredged up every slimy thing he could find to attack Dr. Paul. Yet, Dr. Paul was able to rebut EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!.

My belief that DR. Paul is the man for our times has just been confirmed. He was able to answer every single, stupid attack that has been launched against him the the past weeks. For this, we should thank Tim Russert, even though I do not believe he did it for the betterment of the Revolution.

Be careful of the seeds you sow, Neo-Cons, for someday you will have to reap the Harvest. This interview was like a much needed summer rain. It will allow our Revolution to flourish. Dr. Paul is the the sunshine that gives us our energy to grow.

It was better than any boxing match I have ever seen. Neither competitor flinched, neither dodged nor ducked. For 30 minutes, they stood toe-to toe. Russert was knocked down in every round, but seemed to get up stronger. DR. Paul was stunned by a few jabs, but never staggered nor fell and always responded with a firm uppercut or roundhouse. 3 minutes per round, 10 rounds, RON PAUL WINS BY TKO!!!!

And now without the flowery analogies

I was terrified at every single questions Russert asked. I couldn't see how Dr. Paul could possibly give a satisfactory answer. but Dr. Paul KICKED HIS ARSE!!!!! Not only did he answer the questions, but, I think, put to rest a lot of crazy claims that have been leveled against him.

Ron Paul on NBC: U.S. Moving Toward “Soft Fascism”

Nick Langewis and David Edwards
Raw Story
December 23, 2007

“It reminds me of what Sinclair Lewis once said, he says: ‘When fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.’”

Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) argues to Meet the Press’ Tim Russert that in the statement above, he is not calling presidential contender and Republican competitor Mike Huckabee a fascist, but what could be the image of a cross planted in a recently released Huckabee campaign ad brought the quote to his mind.

Paul does, however, believe that the United States has adopted fascist leanings. Changes in the country’s tone, says the Congressman, such as the PATRIOT Act, questioning dissenters’ patriotism during the war, and civil liberties abuses indicate corporatism, or “soft fascism,” namely a stronghold by the military-industrial complex on society.

“So,” Russert follows up, “you think we’re close to fascism?”

Mentioning a documentary entitled “Freedom to Fascism,” Paul responds, “We’re not moving toward Hitler-type fascism, but we’re moving toward a softer fascism: Loss of civil liberties, corporations running the show, big government in bed with big business. So you have the military-industrial complex, you have the medical-industrial complex, you have the financial industry, you have the communications industry. They go to Washington and spend hundreds of millions of dollars.”

“That’s where the control is,” says the Congressman. “I call that a soft form of fascism — something that’s very dangerous.”

Ron Paul's Campaign: So Poorly Understood By All

Ron Paul is running a campaign that most seemed doomed to misunderstand because it is so unusual. Ron Paul is not running a traditional campaign, nor is he attracting the traditional supporters, in fact, Ron Paul is attracting those that have never been attracted to politics at all. That is because Ron Paul just makes sense. He is the man for the people, the real people not the corporations, or the big lobbyists, but you and me.

The media seems to have no idea that the common man is not pleased with the political system, so they try very hard to fit the Paul campaign phenomena in old boxes that do not fit in this case. It can be quite amusing. The funniest thing to watch is the media trying to explain these big money bombs that Ron Paul has brought in. The first one came on November 5, and brought in $4.3 million a figure that had every analyst scratching their heads and every candidate trying to copy the move.

The second one came on December 16 and brought in over $6 million dollars. Dennis Kucinich put on his own "money bomb" that he thought would bring in millions and instead it brought in less than $150,000. They all seem to think that it is the "concept" of the money bomb that is what did the trick. For this reason, many mainstream outlets are searching desperately for the mastermind behind these money bombs and have settled on Trevor Lyman, a man who agreed to help with the website. So the media thinks it now has its explantion for why Ron Paul did so well - he had a marketing genius behind him. Not so. Not even close. The Ron Paul phenomena is a phenomena because Americans are clamoring for Ron Paul's message. What they fail to understand is that neither fund raising day was Mr. Lyman's idea, in fact, Trevor Lyman had very little to do with either day, (even he will admit it) all he did was design and maintain a website, it took the work of multitudes to make the days successful. In other words, he was just one of thousands of cogs in the whole "money bomb" machine.

To advertise these two huge donation days, unknown numbers of Ron Paul's supporters made videos, emailed who knows how many people, discussed the ideas in their Meetup groups and generally told every single Ron Paul supporter: donate on day X. That is how it was done folks. No mastermind. No top down management. No input from the campaign. Just a good old fashioned game of telephone where one person told two people who told two people who told two people etc. (and maybe a few people who told five or ten thousand people). That is how the Ron Paul campaign is run: it is not run at all. It is just regular Americans who want to see this man win. Ron Paul received over ten million dollars just because a few people told a few people who told a few people and everyone who supports him came running to help: that is how much support he has.

Ron Paul's supporters are desperate to bring their candidate to the White House. They see what both parties have done to them and they are sick of it. On Sunday, December 16th, Ron Paul's supporters decided to celebrate anniversary of the Boston Tea Party by helping their candidate. What happened? Over 53,000 people donated and brought in a stunning six million dollars plus. This dollar figure broke all records and yet the mainstream media made hardly a peep about it. This day cannot be attributed to the genius of any one person, this happened because the American people are sick of what they are seeing and in Ron Paul they see hope. They see a man who speaks the truth and will not steal from them, he wants to return their dignity to them and stop the IRS completely because no one has the right to see your finances or to make you work for them. You own your labor, every bit of it.

Ron Paul believes that people should have freedom in this country, something we have gotten used to living without. For example, today's gamblers are so desperate to get the government off of their backs, they are willing to give up tons of liberty and freedom just to be able to gamble online again without any pesky questions of legality, indeed they are practicly selling their souls to get that right back. Well, they shouldn't have to agree to pay unlimited fees to the government and be subject to regulations that violate privacy and dignity just to be able to do what a free society would let them do with no strings attached. Ron Paul agrees. He thinks that people's lives, their very lives, belong to them and not to the government. This idea attracts nearly everyone who hears it. Of course those who are on the receiving end of the government's thievery are not too happy with Ron Paul. They attack every chance they get and call him a kook and try to pretend that the world of limited government and the return of liberty that Ron Paul is discussing is a crazy new concept. (That newfound concept is what started this country).

After bringing in the biggest cash haul ever in one day, the mainstream media made nary a peep about it. Can you imagine? Had any other man broken a record this stupendous and brought in six million dollars by doing nothing except accepting money that his supporters lined up to give him, the media wouldn't stop talking about it. When you stop and consider, it really is a remarkable feat - being so popular that your supporters don't have to be asked for money, they line up to give it to you (at one point during the day the servers at the Ron Paul headquarters were running so far behind all the donations the donors had to wait to be able to donate - and they did!) This is a big story here folks. The story of how Americans are fed up and when offered a way out they are running towards it as fast as they can. Either the corporate media are too bought and paid for, or they are too ignorant, but whatever the reason, they kept quiet. Oh, a few reported the facts, but almost none made a big deal out of what was a very big deal! Just one more reason to read Gambling911. Sometimes it seems like this site has more integrity than the New York Times! Speaking of which, coming up in the next few days if all goes well, one lone Ron Paul supporter, Mr. Lawrence W. Lepard will be spending his own money to run a full page ad in the New York Times so those readers can finally hear about the real Ron Paul. (Actually, this ad is more of a letter to the American people and he will be running it in ten New Hampshire newspapers as well.) He is spending his own money, all by himself to help Ron Paul. Now that is a man that deserves your admiration and credit!

Will Ron Paul win the nomination? No one knows. But he sure has a lot of supporters out there. In fact, nearly 25,000 of the donations on December 16th came from new supporters, which shows his campaign is still gaining a lot of ground. With the primaries almost here it is anyone's guess whether he can gather enough support to in time to win the nomination, but he is sure making it race worth watching.

If you would like to find out more about Ron Paul you can visit his website www.RonPaul2008.com or www.LewRockwell.com and look on the home page for the Ron Paul section. Nothing teaches you more about a man than to read decades of his writings. Ron Paul is the most consistent man running in this campaign and has been fighting for our rights for two decades in Congress - if a bill does not pass the Constitutional smell test Ron Paul votes against it. You will see. Go to Lew Rockwell's website and do some reading and then see how you feel about Ron Paul.

Wanna see Ron win ANOTHER STRAW POLL?

Ron Paul Rising

See if you can spam a vote, reader. I couldn't!

AOL "spam proof" Straw Poll

How about that Republican side, 'eh, readers?

And now on the most important future issue facing America:

Paul: Iran attack on Israel, illusion

"Maverick Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul says the leaders of Israel are impelling the White House to wage war on Iran.

"The government of Israel encourages Americans to go into Iran," Paul said Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press.

The 10-term Texas lawmaker added that neoconservatives have also been pushing the administration into 'bombing Iran'.

When asked what he would do as the US president 'if Iran invaded Israel', Paul said the illusion of the Islamic Republic's attack on Israel is like saying, "Iran is about to invade Mars."

The 72-year-old politician made the remarks as Israeli officials are stepping up their war rhetoric against Tehran, over its nuclear program despite the recent reports confirming the peaceful nature of the country's activities.

Ron Paul also made it clear that he would cut the 'billions of dollars' in annual aid Washington provides for Israel if elected President.

"Ron Paul Moves Up Six Points in Iowa Poll by American Research Group

James Freedman
Nolan Chart
Wednesday, December 26, 2007

One of the biggest criticisms Ron Paul has received has been his apparent inability to penetrate into double digits in scientific polls. Many reasons have been given for this both for and against the Paul campaign. However, polling results just released by American Research Group Inc suggest that the scientific polls may finally be catching up to where Paul's supporters claim he has been all along.

Just four days ago, a poll ARG took Dec. 16-19 showed Dr. Paul with the support of just 4% of Iowa caucusers. Four days later, a poll taken Dec. 20-23 by this same polling organization shows him at 10%, more than twice his previous support level. The poll shows nearly all of Paul's main opponents dropping in their support, including front runner Mike Huckabee who lost five points to 23%, down from 28% four days prior. The only main opponent who rose was Mitt Romney, whose support rose four points after an 11 point drop from their prior poll. This is most likely a bounce after a fall due to the controversy regarding Romney's religious beliefs.

Even more interesting, the same poll shows that Dr. Paul's support among women in Iowa is slightly higher than men, as 11% of women are expressing their support for Paul in the poll.

The poll doesn't say what its statistical margin for error is. Similar polls typically have about a 4 point error margin. If this poll has a similar sample size, it means that Paul's support has increased by more than the margin for error, which likely indicates that it is at least partly a genuine move upward and not merely a statistical anomaly.

What is even more interesting is that ARG typically reports that about 80-90% of the support for the top candidates is not likely to change. Yet, the percentages of support for each candidate appears to be swinging dramatically. This suggests that the "strong" support may not be as strong as the pollster thinks it is.

ARG also conducted a poll on Dec. 20 in which they found that 45% of Republicans are now dissatisfied with George Bush's economic leadership, up from 25% in November. That's a dramatic increase. Given the fact that only Ron Paul is discussing economic issues directly and in detail, this could be part of the reason why his support has jumped so much in just four days.

It's dangerous to read too much into these numbers, given the volatility that the scientific polling numbers have been showing from all pollsters over the past few weeks and months. Still Paulites and the Paul campaign have to feel encouraged, not the least because with this poll Paul appears to have finally broken into double-digits. With the Iowa Caucuses just eight days away, this could be the beginning of a Paul wind sprint to the finish line in his attempt to catch the frontrunners. Not bad for a 72-year-old ob/gyn.

" Ron Paul: Real Conservatives Don't Start Wars, They End Them

James Freedman
Huffington Post
Wednesday, December 26, 2007

Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) recently gained fame for breaking one-day online donation records, but he's still considered an underdog by many because of his single-digit polling and arguably radical views on a variety of issues. For one thing, he supports an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, a position that seems more at home with the Democrats these days. So why is he up there, debate after debate, standing out from the likes of Huckabee and Romney and McCain? Why isn't he trying to fit in if he wants to win the primary? Is he even a Republican?

He told me he is--just not the same kind as the rest of them.

"I think their definitions are different," he said. "Today, the Party has been taken over by a group called neoconservatives, and I don't believe they're really conservative. I think they're really liberal in the modern sense of the word--they're big spenders, they believe in entitlements, they believe in military adventurism."

Paul certainly doesn't believe in "military adventurism." He articulated an anti-preemption stance, geard toward avoiding another inextricable, Iraq-like conflict in the future. And unlike some politicians, he usually acts in accordance with his stated philosophy. For example, he was one of only six Republicans in the House to vote against the Iraq War Resolution.

"The traditional conservative--which the Republicans used to be--did not advocate aggressive war, usually got our country out of the wars such as after Korea and Vietnam..." he said. "We've done exactly the opposite. And because I'm a strict constitutionalist, this has separated me from the other candidates."

Some have called Ron Paul an isolationist, in part because of his views on foreign aid and the use of military force. He strongly disagreed with the association.

"I'm the last thing from an isolationist," he said. "An isolationist is a protectionist--they want to build walls around their country. They may want to bring troops home, but they also want to close the door for trade and travel and the spreading of ideas, and that's quite different. The Founders, I think, had it right when they said, 'Trade with people, be friends with people, but don't get involved in their internal affairs and don't get involved in entangling alliances,' and you'd be a lot less likely to fight people that you're trading with than if you have protectionist measures and sanctions on countries [like] we do today."

He added: "The same individuals who claim I might be an isolationist are the ones who are putting sanctions on countries like Iran and Iraq and Sudan, and yet the trade might stop us from fighting. I, for instance, think we should be trading with Castro, rather than putting sanctions on Castro, because it didn't do any good--after 40 or 50 years, it hasn't helped us a bit."

Finally, Paul believes that the United States should not be entirely dependent on other nations for its energy.

"I think the most important thing is to let the market set the price of energy and get out of the way of alternative energy," he said. "We've been interfering with the development of nuclear energy for 30 or 40 years. We don't develop any new nuclear power plants, but then at the same time we take money and we subsidize alternative fuels such as ethanol, which nobody's ever proven is an economically feasible alternative. So the most important thing is to recognize that the government bureaucrats and politicians have no idea what is the best alternative fuel, but if the market pushes the price of oil up, then people are going to say, 'Hey, they're running out of oil! And oil is now $200 a barrel, we better do something,' and the market's going to come up with the best alternative."

These goals may seem ambitious, but Paul is conservative about what he could accomplish unilaterally, stressing that he would need to rely on congressional support that a mandate, in the form of his successful election to the presidency, would grant him.

"You could [unilaterally] change the foreign policy and bring troops home and save a lot of money. And you could start repealing executive orders that have been so onerous. And you could refuse to enforce laws that are put on the books through regulations and by court orders or executive orders. So you could be discreet in what you enforce, but to really, really have the big changes, yes, you have to work and develop a consensus on what you're trying to do."

"Ron Paul's followers aim to stun the pundits

AARON GOULD SHEININ
Atlanta-Journal Constitution
Wednesday, December 26, 2007

Don't tell Ron Paul's supporters that their man is not going be the next U.S. president.

No matter the evidence — the no more than 7 percent standing in early state polls, the lack of high-profile national campaign operation or the fact that the long-time Texas congressman hardly fits the modern Republican profile — Paul's legion of supporters believe, loudly, that their man will win the GOP nomination in 2008.

Voters here are flat determined to deliver the state for Paul when Republicans hold their primary Feb. 5.

Ike Hall, 40, Paul's Georgia campaign director and a radiation safety officer at Emory University Hospital, believes it will happen

"Yes, I do," Hall said. "Yes, I do. Mostly because of his phenomenally deep and diverse grassroots community. American politics hasn't seen anything like this."

The Paul grass-roots community is impressive. He owns the Internet, whether it's the more than 65,000 videos supporters have uploaded to YouTube, or the more than 50,000 "friends" Paul has on Facebook, the social networking site.

In metro Atlanta, Paul's backers also use Meetup.com to plan events and to communicate with other supporters. They have organized weekly rallies each Saturday at Freedom Park, sign-waving parties along busy intersections and canvassing groups to spread the word. The campaign opened its Georgia headquarters Dec. 16.

But the biggest reason Paul could actually make a run at the nomination is the more than $6 million he and his supporters raised online Dec. 16. The one-day event, believed to be the largest amount ever raised by an American political campaign in a single day, included contributions from more than 58,000 people. It helped give Paul a fourth-quarter fund-raising total of more than

$12 million. That's expected to lead the GOP pack.

In presidential politics, money is life.

In Georgia, Paul raised more than $108,000 through the end of September, more than former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, but considerably less than the other leading candidates.

Supporters say the Georgia campaign is just beginning.

"His message is so strong," said Justin Stout, 24, who was joined by a trio of other Paul supporters to brave the chill and drizzle on a recent evening to wave Paul signs at traffic along Ga. 5 in Douglasville. "His message of individual liberty is so strong. But we know we have to do this because the media doesn't seem to be giving us attention. He has to raise $6 million to get on the news."

Stout is correct in one sense. You don't see Rudy Giuliani supporters, or Mitt Romney or John McCain supporters, standing on street corners or interstate overpasses to get attention.

Speak to enough Paul supporters and several things become apparent.

• They speak of Paul in almost reverent, certainly respectful, tones. They don't call him "Paul," or "Ron," or even "Congressman Paul." It's almost always "Ron Paul," or "Dr. Paul," reflecting his background as a ob-gyn.

• Common themes emerge: honesty, strict allegiance to the Constitution and personal freedom.

• The media is against them, or at least ignoring them.

• The polls are wrong.

"Ron Paul: The Next Abraham Lincoln?

Philadelphia Will Do
Wednesday, December 26, 2007

Since I fell back on an old standby and made fun of Barbaro and somebody got mad at me (see comments), I figured I'd shoot at another fish in the barrel and make fun of Ron Paul.

I think people actually know who Ron Paul is now, since my mom says she likes his idea of getting rid of the income tax, which he apparently talked about on Meet the Press, and a bunch of other people knew who he was, too. This is the man who doesn't believe in evolution, which probably has no bearing on a president but still sort of creeps me out since it's, like, ninth grade science. Does Ron Paul not believe in Charlemagne from my freshman year world history class, too?

But nothing I can make fun of Ron Paul about is funnier than things his supporters write. Libertarians have been trolling the Internet since around 2001; Ron Paul supporters have just upped the ante by trolling real life with a blimp instead. Ron Paul supporters do not like jokes about Ron Paul. And Ron Paul supporters are dead serious about Ron Paul. Bla bla bla important presidential election whatever.

Fortunately, none of this will matter because some website reports there is a neocon plot to assassinate Ron Paul!

Basically, Paul has too good a shot at winning the presidency now with his double-digit poll numbers in one state and so the neo-cons are going to knock him off for some reason. But that's okay, says Ron, I'm ready to die for my cause.

Ron Paul himself has stated on a previous o ccasion that he is aware of the dangers of being such a bold icon for freedom and understands that political assassinations have occurred in the past.

In a June appearance on The Alex Jones Show, Congressman Paul acknowledged that such a threat is "real," agreeing with a number of historical examples where leaders were killed or attacked for successfully standing up to the system. "That's right. They'll do it," Paul said, making reference with Alex Jones to upstarts like Andrew Jackson, "The Kingfish" Huey Long, Bobby Kennedy, George Washington and even George Wallace.

Another secret service source told Estulin that the message scrolled across the bottom of the screen during Ron Paul's CNN interview on Tuesday, "Paul is dead, Paul is dead, Paul is dead," was potentially more than just a matter of quoting a joke made by Mike Huckabee about attacks on his campaign ads, but in fact could be taken as a threat or even a cue to Paul's would-be assassin.

Famed assassination victims George Washington and Andrew Jackson are so much like Ron Paul. The George Wallace comparison is a nice touch. He means this guy, right?
