"Germany: Move to Ban Scientology"
The interior ministers of the nation’s 16 states as well as the federal interior minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, “consider Scientology to be an organization that is not compatible with the Constitution” and will work to ban the organization, Berlin’s interior minister, Erhart Körting, told reporters after a meeting. They gave no specific examples, but the most recent annual report on extremism compiled by their agencies criticized the organization for disregarding “basic and human rights, such as the right to develop one’s personality and the right to be treated equally.” Officials estimate there are 6,000 members of the Los Angeles-based Church of Scientology in the country (AP)."
