From The Heart of Darkness

I've not a clue what is going on here, but it caught my eye:

"Congo: Villagers flee as fighting intensifies"

KINSHASA - Fighting between army troops and insurgents forced villagers to flee parts of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday, UN officials said. Fighters loyal to renegade General Laurent Nkunda captured an area around cellphone company installations, prompting a counterattack from the army, said Major Vivek Goyal, a spokesman for the 18,000-member UN peacekeeping force. He said the army also attacked Nkunda's troops around the towns of Mushake, Nyanzale, and Kimoka. There was no immediate word on casualties. Villagers streamed out of the battle zones, adding to the tens of thousands who have already been displaced in Congo's North Kivu province, said Patrick Lavand'homme, an official with the UN humanitarian agency. "In terms of shelter, to find spots for all these displaced, the situation risks becoming very serious," Lavand'homme said in an interview broadcast on UN-backed radio (AP)."

I know I don't focus on the continent much, but why is this only a World Brief?
