You think because the AmeriKan MSM has LIED ABOUT IRAQ from the START and NEVER STOPPED LYING -- the latest manifestation being the surge success (to remove the war as a campaign issue) -- is the reason it DIDN'T REPORT on the GREEN ZONE SHELLING?
Green Zone shelling?
WTF?
I thought the U.S. had taken Baghdad.
"Turkish Troops Enter Iraq in Pursuit of Kurdish Militants"
"Turkey’s military said Friday that it had sent troops into northern Iraq on Thursday night, in what Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey called a limited operation to weaken Kurdish militants there.
At least 24 Kurdish fighters and 5 Turkish soldiers were killed during the ground operation on Friday, the Turkish military said, with at least 20 more fighters believed to have been killed in later artillery and air attacks. The operation, which continued into the night, destroyed a number of hide-outs and military caches, the military said....
The operation on Friday appeared to have been the largest ground incursion by Turkey into Iraq since the American invasion in 2003, but was not a sweeping offensive....
From a news organization that censors, hides and lies, I'll take the description with a grain of salt, thank you.
Five bridges were destroyed in the operation, despite Turkey’s assurances that no civilian infrastructure would be touched....
Turkish domestic politics were also in play. The military’s image was damaged in bruising political battles with Mr. Erdogan and his party last year, and a successful campaign against a common enemy could help repair it.
“Their success would ultimately help their image to get stronger,” Mr. Laciner said.
WHY the FUCK should KURDS have to pay for Erdogan's POLITICAL PROBLEMS at HOME?!
What the FUCK?!!!!!!
Turks sure have earned the genocidal designation!
This is DISGUSTING, readers!!
On Friday afternoon, the military air base in the southeastern Turkey town of Diyarbakir was buzzing with activity, said the state-run Anatolian News Agency, which reported that fighter jets and helicopters were taking off to monitor the border."
Sounds like this "operation" is a LONG WAY from being OVER!
"Turkish troops clashed with Kurdish militants in the snowy mountains of northern Iraq yesterday after staging a surprise land invasion, the most serious offensive in years in Turkey's 24-year conflict with antigovernment rebels....
The White House confirmed it knew in advance of the invasion.... There were conflicting accounts on the scope of the operation, which began Thursday night. Turkish media said 10,000 troops were on the move and had gone about 6 miles into Iraq to pursue Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, guerrillas, who use the border region to launch raids on Turkish forces.
The media indicated about 60 tanks had crossed the border, but some had returned to Turkey by yesterday afternoon. The operation was reportedly centered on the Hakurk region south of the Turkish city of Cukurca. CNN-Turk television, citing Turkish security officials, said the operation could last two weeks.
Late in the day, the Turkish military said five of its soldiers and 24 rebels had died in a clash inside Iraq and estimated at least 20 more rebels were killed by artillery and helicopter gunships. It said sporadic fighting was continuing.
Rebels said the Turkish reports on troop levels and casualties were exaggerated. They said two Turkish troops were killed in clashes.
"We don't think there are as many as 10,000 [troops]. Probably a lot less," said Fozdar Aresta, a rebel leader. Aresta said Thursday's aerial bombardments had been "very heavy" and that clashes continued yesterday. "We have the men and weaponry to face them," he said.
There was no way to independently confirm either side's assertions.
Turkey's military posted photographs on its official website showing troops clad in heavy boots trekking across a snow-covered landscape. In one photograph, a soldier propped his weapon over a giant snow mound. In another, a line of troops walked single file along a slushy road....
Well, that proves Turkey is telling the truth, huh?
In Washington, White House spokesman Scott Stanzel confirmed that Turkey, a NATO ally, had notified the United States of its plan, and he suggested that the United States had shared intelligence with Turkey before the movement....
So this invasion was U.S-approved!!!
Another knife in the back of the Kurds!
No wonder they don't trust anyone.
The conflict, which began when PKK rebels took up arms against Turkey's government in 1984, has... been building in the region since October, when Turkey sent about 100,000 troops to the border to counter increased PKK raids. Since then, there have been several aerial attacks and one minor ground incursion involving about 300 troops....
Yeah, it was the Kurds who started it by taking up ams and DEFENDING THEMSELVES against Turkish oppression.
Remember, readers, Turkey is a strong ally of Israel and Zionists control the AmeriKan MSM.
That is why there is such a skew in their historical background clips.
And this is only in the news to distract from what's below.
This goes on daily, readers, but the press only covers now?
The Kurdistan Regional Government also protested the Turkish actions. "This is against international protocols, and it is a violation of international laws," said a regional government spokesman, Fouad Hussein."
Go tell it to a Palestinian!
Still waiting for that AmeriKan War Daily reporting on the Green Zone shelling:
"Sadr boosts political standing with renewed cease-fire"
".... The daily toll from bombings and other attacks continued in Iraq yesterday.
A suicide bomber who struck as Sunni worshipers were leaving a mosque in the city of Amiriyah in Anbar Province did the most damage, killing four people. Anbar Province is a former Al Qaeda in Iraq stronghold that has seen a drop in violence as Sunni groups there have switched allegiances.
Meanwhile, the US military said Iraqi soldiers discovered 15 bodies near the town of Kazim al-Isrhail, about 20 miles northeast of Baqubah in the second of two mass graves unearthed Thursday in the volatile Diyala Province. Nine other bodies also were found buried in a field in the Baqubah area, the military said...."

Still no Green Zone mention:
"February 22, 2008
BAGHDAD --A series of rockets or mortars were fired toward the U.S.-protected Green Zone early Saturday.... Nearly 10 blasts were heard in the sprawling area in central Baghdad starting about 6:15 a.m., and the U.S. public address system there warned people to "duck and cover" and to stay away from windows.
Oh, readers, why didn't the Globe or Times cover this?
Maj. Brad Leighton, a U.S. military spokesman, confirmed the Green Zone was hit by indirect fire, the military's term for a rocket or mortar attack, but could not immediately provide more details....
The 4-square-mile area on the west bank of the Tigris River houses the U.S. and British embassies, the Iraqi government headquarters and thousands of American troops on the west bank of the Tigris River.
It has been frequently struck by rockets and mortar rounds, though the attacks have tapered off amid stepped up security measures and a lull of violence in the capital and surrounding areas.
Uh-huh!
