RMEILE, Lebanon — A roadside bomb exploded Tuesday near a United Nations peacekeepers’ vehicle in southern Lebanon, slightly wounding two soldiers from the Irish contingent, United Nations and Lebanese officials said.
On Monday, Shaker al-Absi, the leader of the militant group Fatah al Islam, released an audio recording vowing to attack the Lebanese Army, which defeated his fighters in a bloody three-month battle at a Palestinian refugee camp last summer.
