Just watched the murderous Anti-Christ put pen to paper and shred the Constitution.
IT'S OVER, PEOPLE!! YOU HAVE JUST ENDED FREEDOM IN THIS COUNTRY!!
THERE IS NO LONGER A BILL OF RIGHTS!!
Don't believe me? Fine. And what is "Law," anyway?
Well, it's language and the language of the bill:
"allows the president to identify enemies, imprison them indefinitely and interrogate them... beyond the reach of the full court reviews traditionally afforded criminal defendants and ordinary prisoners... does not just allow the president to determine the meaning and application of the Geneva Conventions; it also strips the courts of jurisdiction to hear challenges to his interpretation.
Bruce Ackerman, a professor of law and political science at Yale University, agreed that it strengthened the White House position:
"The president walked away with a lot more than most people thought. The bill further entrenches presidential power and allows the administration to declare even an American citizen an unlawful combatant subject to indefinite detention. And it's not only about these prisoners. If Congress can strip courts of jurisdiction over cases because it fears their outcome, judicial independence is threatened."
[Here is the scary ending]
How the measure will look decades hence may depend not just on how it is used but on how the terrorist threat evolves. If a major terrorist plot in the United States is uncovered -- and surely if one succeeds -- it may vindicate the Congressional decision to give the government more leeway to seize and question those who might know about the next attack.
[Or anyone Bush deems a "terrorist" or "terrorist sympathizer."
I'm not. I have no sympathy for W.
And if a plot is uncovered, be sure an FBI- (or some other intelligence) facilitator will be exposed.
A successful "terror" attack would be absolutely and outrageously a "false-flag" event, and EVERYBODY KNOWS IT!]
If the attacks of 2001 recede as a devastating but unique tragedy, the decision to create a new legal framework may seem like overkill.
Gary J. Bass, a professor of politics and international affairs at Princeton:
"If there is never another terrorist attack and we never obtain actionable intelligence, this will look like a huge overreaction."
[Therefore, Cheney will simply say to some neo-con black planner what Starship Captain Jean-Luc Picard used to say: "Make it so."
This legislation was not brow-beaten through in order not to use it!
C'mon, professor!]
Long before that judgment arrives, legal challenges are likely to bring the new law before the Supreme Court. Assuming the justices rule they retain the power to hear the case at all, they will then decide whether Congress has resolved the flaws it found in June or must make another effort to balance the rights of accused terrrorists and the desire for security."
[After what has been written, do YOU believe the Court will even be listened to?
Are you a fool? Know what kangaroo courts are?
When Bush puts pen to paper, we will FORMALLY BE in a DICTATORSHIP!
How much longer will I be allowed to publish? Will anything happen to me?
I am NON-VIOLENT! And I am SCARED!
The bill also retroactively gives Bush and company immunity (unconstitutional) from war crimes charges dating back to September 11, 2001 (according to CNN's Jack Cafferty of all people)!
Why?
To protect themselves from accusations of war crimes?
Because they have committed and are committing war crimes as I write this?
Because they FACILITATED 9/11?!?!
Never mind, America.
You can go back to sleep now.
Just don't come bitchin' to me when the shit hits the fan -- although I'll probably be long gone by then.
