As you are reading this post from a year ago today, readers, remind yourself that this could have happened yesterday, o.k.?
This is why I used to think purchasing the papers was important; however, it also shows you how the New York Times and Boston Globe (see below post) CENSOR their websites.
And why would the Times publish this picture of GRIEVING IRAQI WOMEN in the PAPER, but not link it to all you webbers? I'm looking right at it, readers!
So what's the excuse, Times, HANH?!?
Caption: "Mourning in Sadr City... Iraqi women in Sadr City, a Shiite neighborhood of Baghdad, grieved yesterday next to the coffin of a child who was killed in a string of mortar attacks that took place in Husseiniya, another Shiite district in the capital. The mortar attacks killed six civilians and wounded up to eight others."
Description: The photo shows a small box (the coffin) in the middle of a flat area (it looks like the side of a road). One woman is sitting on the curb -- five women grieving in the photograph. The coffin has a blanket-covered body inside, and is open (I can see no cover for the box). All of the women are dressed in full abayas.
On the right side, a woman is sitting in the road and slapping her forehead with her right hand, while her left hand is acting as a brace to her side. The woman is visibly anguished. Moving to the left, I see a woman standing up with a bundle of blankets and a BABY'S HEAD visible! She is looking down and to the left (reason to follow).
Still panning to the left, I see a woman on the curb. Next to her is a woman who is bending over and clasping the hand of another woman who has obviously FAINTED in GRIEF!!!! The woman on the ground is lying still with her eyes closed, and her left hand is still gripping her forehead. The woman holding her hand is in obvious distress at what has happened to her sister/friend.
Maybe the Times just doesn't like the photographer, a Mr. Adi al-Khazali, or his photographs (scroll down and view MANY IRAQI WOMEN and GIRLS!!!
Oh, and one thing about the "Al-CIA-Duh" in Iraq that the U.S. military claims they killed one year ago today (we got one in Somalia yesterday).
I don't have the sourcing, readers, but I know it is true, I'm looking at it and I know I got the quote from somewhere:
"coalition forces believe Masri is curently in Baghdad... but an Egyptian newspaper reported on July 6, 2006 that he is in Tura Prison in Egypt, and has been for seven years"
Gotta update those "Al-CIA-Duh" lists, guys!!! One year later, it is CLOSE the BOOKS on "Al-CIA-Duh!"
