Story Iraq: Turkey Opens Up Northern Front

The war expands!

"As part of escalating border tensions in recent days, the Turkish military fired a barrage of artillery shells into the northern Iraqi village of Zakhu late Saturday and yesterday morning, according to news service reports from the region (Boston Globe October 15, 2007)."

"Turkey’s military on Sunday fired dozens of artillery shells across Iraq’s northern border, hitting villages in Kurdistan, said Col. Hussein Rashid of the Iraqi Border Protection Forces. Colonel Hussein said the Turkish strikes damaged structures in several villages in the northern reaches of Dohuk Province in Iraq, which borders Turkey, but caused no casualties (New York Times October 15, 2007)."
