Story Iraq: Hidden Front

Not really "news," is it?

"Turkey pounds rebel caves as leader vows more attacks" by Suzan Fraser/Associated Press October 31, 2007

ANKARA, Turkey - Turkey's prime minister said yesterday increased military action against separatist Kurdish rebels was "unavoidable."

Turkish helicopters pounded rebel positions near the border with rockets for a second day, and Turkey brought in troops by the truckload in an operation against mountainside emplacements.

Then why didn't the MSM report it yesterday?

Turkish Cobra attack helicopters blasted suspected PKK targets in the Mount Cudi area, near the southeastern border with Iraq, for a second day, the private Dogan news agency reported. About 100 rebels are believed to be hiding in mountainside caves.

Gee, I wonder who gave them the Cobras.

And WTF? "Suspected" terrorists?

If they are not, well, Turkey has a history of wiping people out in holocausts, don't they?

Fight hard, Kurds! Your lives really do depend on it!

The fighting has killed three Turkish soldiers and six guerrillas, local news reports said.

Attack helicopters escorted four Black Hawk helicopters as they transported soldiers to and from the mountain.

Who do you think sold them the Black Hawks?

Dogan reported a 100-vehicle military convoy traveling from Cizre toward the border.

The Iraqi region is heavily reliant on Turkish electricity and food imports, as well as Turkish investment in construction.

That is a real CUI BONO stink, right there!

Yeah, they want to kill each others markets? Stink!

Some Turkish legislators have suggested shutting down the Habur border crossing - the only vehicular route into Iraq from Turkey.

No wonder Turkey and Israel are such good buddies: They can both laugh about the collective punishment and war crimes they have inflicted upon indigenous populations!!

Ha-ha-ha!

Jamal Abdullah, a spokesman for the Iraqi Kurd regional government, complained that economic sanctions "would represent a collective punishment against Kurdistan's people."

Yeah, that's right!

He warned that Turkey and the US Army also would suffer if the border crossing was closed. About 70 percent of US air cargo headed for Iraq goes through Turkey, as does about one-third of the fuel used by the US military there.

Oh, then that was just a hot-fart-mist of threat then!!

Massoud Barzani, the leader of Iraq's Kurdish region, called for a peaceful solution at a news conference after a meeting of the regional parliament in Irbil:

"We believe that military action is not the solution. We are not part of this problem and we will not allow anyone to drag us into a war that is not our war."

Whatever, Kurd, as Turkey and USrael dismiss that out-of-hand!

I think you've already been dragged in through
P.J.A.K., Kurd!

And the NYT? Silent today.
