Has Israel Lost America Because of Gaza?

This blogger says yes. I would simply add that they have already lost the PEOPLE of America, despite their heavy-fisted AmeriKan MSM apparatus bludgeoning away with propaganda and lies.

"Behind the scenes, Israel lost America in the middle of Gaza

by Divining the News (DTN)

Is Israel losing America. There seems to be a parallel with Georgia and the Gaza operation, as if both times the US was expected to offer back up and it did not.
.
We can imagine in the high power tactics of warfare that players (Israel) present a fait acccompli where other players (the US) are seen to have no choice.
.
The public spat between Bush and Olmert was telling. Rice was going to vote for a ceasefire and although Olmert protested he only got an abstention.

“She [Rice] was left shamed. A resolution that she prepared and arranged, and in the end she did not vote in favor.”

The U.N. diplomatic corps was astonished when the United States abstained on the 14-0 resolution Rice had crafted and claimed her country supported. Arab diplomats say Rice promised them she would vote for it. Source

There was the much reported US arms shipment from Greece that was tendered and then canceled. Global Research (GR) speculated that it was for a broader middle east war.

A very large delivery of US weaponry to Israel consisting of 3,000 tons of “ammunition” is scheduled to sail to Israel. The size and nature of the shipments are described as “unusual”:

But GR pointed out that arms shipments are made prior to conflict:

The ordinance required under “Operation Cast Lead” was decided upon in June 2008. Further to Tel Aviv’s request under the US military aid program to Israel, the U.S. Congress approved in September 2008 the transfer of 1,000 bunker-buster high precision GPS-guided Small Diameter Guided Bomb Units 39 (GBU-39).

The GBU 39 smart bombs produced by Boeing were delivered to Israel in November. They were used in the initial air raids on Gaza: Source

Then the shipment was canceled:

A U.S. military plan to ship munitions from a Greek port to a U.S. stockpile in Israel has been canceled due to the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Pentagon said on Monday. Source

Now Hillary Clinton’s nomination is being stalled, and she is a great friend of Israel.

US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has ruled out negotiations with the Palestinian Islamist militant group Hamas unless it drops its extremist stance, saying her position is “absolute”. Source

.

If Hillary is not confirmed it will be a major blow to any Israeli imperialist ambitions. And the thesis of this post suggests she will not be.

Although there was no mention of policies / interest groups, that is more likely what it is all about.

Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. Senate will delay a vote on Senator Hillary Clinton’s nomination to become secretary of state until tomorrow at the earliest after a Republican senator objected to her confirmation by voice vote today.

Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, said he insists on “a full and open debate” to examine potential conflicts of interests in donations to the foundation of former President Bill Clinton, husband of New York Senator Clinton. Source

Isn’t this a dig at Hillary? On the The Oprah Winfrey Show, To deflate:

Joe Biden’s wife on Monday let slip that her husband had his pick of being Barack Obama’s running mate or the secretary of state nominee. Source

.

Why was there no American presence at the Sharm Summit. Secretary of State C. Rice would have been expected to be there - by Israel’s side.

One guesses it is always the same group of people promising and perpetuating these wars. Is the Gaza debacle the reason Cheney showed up in a wheelchair for the inauguration today? Maybe he was overridden by the Secretary of Defense Robert Gates?

And in these uncertain times where none of us know what is next in our immediate lifes. Wouldn’t it make sense that the ruling power brokers are experiencing the same. The whole Gaza assault reeked of a bygone era, devised by people from the past

Justin Raimondo has a similar post (January 16, 2009):

the divergence of US and Israeli interests began to come out in the open: most of these were little noted, such as the end of the visa arrangements between the US and Israel that had given Israelis practically unlimited rights to travel and stay in the US. Another and not so subtle signal: the arrest of two top officials of AIPAC …

The Gaza offensive has caught the US off-guard, and brought simmering US-Israeli tensions to a boil. What Gaza signals is a new turn for the Israelis, a clean break, if you will, with their status as an American puppet in the Middle East. They are clearly going off on their own, intent on waging a war of unmitigated aggression against all their neighbors. Their expansionist tendencies have lately taken on pretty grandiose dimensions, as Seymour Hersh reported in his exposé of their activities in Kurdistan. That this little adventure was leaked to Hersh by sources in and around the US intelligence community and government circles was doubtless another contributing factor to the growing US-Israeli split. In the absence of a broader Middle East war, did Israel take a hammering on the ground?

[Israeli] tanks withdrew on Friday from the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City after 24 hours of constant shelling, leaving behind the corpses of Palestinian civilians (women and children).

Al Qassam Brigades and the Palestinian resistance announced that they destroyed more sixteen tanks in hard clashes as a response to the Zionist invasion to the area. Source

And how efficient were the precision Boeing GPS-guided Small Diameter Guided Bomb Units 39 (GBU-39):

The GBU-39 is one of the most modern weapons in the American inventory. …. unfortunately for the mass of innocent Gazans, the GBU 39 does not work as accurately as advertised. It has reliability problems, among other things, according to my sources some of whom have experience in using this weapon (indeed, one told me he thought its problems made it a step backward in effectiveness). source
