Occupation Iraq: Death Toll Rising

For Iraqis and Kurds:

"Iraq's 'Chemical Ali' to hang this month"

"by John Affleck, Associated Press | March 1, 2008

BAGHDAD - .... Witnesses testified that Iraqi government forces attacked women and children, burned crops, killed livestock, and forced civilians into detention camps....

See PALESTINE and ISRAEL for the appropriate comparison TODAY!

Aras Abdi, 43, who lost 12 relatives in the Halabja attack: "On the other hand, the execution will not improve our lives. We have been neglected by the Kurdish regional government."

.... According to an Associated Press count, at least 729 Iraqis were reported killed through Thursday in February, up from at least 610 Iraqis killed in January. At least 29 US troops were killed in February, down from 40 the month before.

And even that is low, readers.

The surge has seen around 300 dead per day, 10,000 per month -- with 1.2 million Iraqis dead since the invasion.

Meanwhile, on the Kurdish front:

"Turkey pulls troops from northern Iraq"

"by Alexandra Zavis, Los Angeles Times | March 1, 2008

BAGHDAD - Turkey announced yesterday that it had pulled its troops out of northern Iraq, concluding a large-scale offensive against Kurdish separatist guerrillas....

Yeah, except they really didn't!!

"The army plans to establish 11 temporary bases south of the border with Iraq"

Oh, man, I'm tired of the MSM lies.

PKK spokesman Ahmed Denis disputed that the withdrawal was complete. Although he agreed that Turkish troops had left the Zab area, the focus of some of the most intense clashes in recent days, he said some remained in other places....

The Turkish military claimed to have "eliminated" 240 militants during the offensive, which it said took the lives of 24 Turkish soldiers and three village guards. It also claimed to have struck hundreds of infrastructure targets, including shelters, command centers, and weapons positions, as well as communications, training, and logistic facilities.

Translation: Turkey flattened the place!

The militants have disputed the Turkish casualty accounts, which they say are exaggerated. They said they have killed at least 100 Turkish soldiers but have not provided a figure for their own dead.

The military said it would continue to monitor the area and said it would return if necessary....

Sigh!
You know what I'm thinking, readers.

Turkey maintained throughout the operation that its forces would avoid civilian areas and target only PKK bases. But the Kurdish regional authorities in Iraq claimed that several bridges were destroyed....

"It is very clear that an established group like the PKK will not be eliminated with one or two more cross-border operations. Turkey needs pinpoint operations against the group's leadership, like Israel's operations against Palestinian groups," said Sinan Ogan, head of the Turkish Center for International Relations and Strategic Analysis in Ankara.

Is this guy fucking nuts?!?!

Doesn't he KNOW about the DEAD PALESTINIAN CHILDREN, readers?

I think I'm going to be sick!
