"Clashes, explosion claim 25 lives"

COLOMBO - Sri Lankan troops killed 23 Tamil Tiger rebels in clashes in the north of the island in which a soldier also died, a military spokesman said yesterday. The clashes occurred in the northern districts of Vavuniya and Mannar on Friday. Something I know nothing about.

"Egypt, Saudi Arabia back peace summit"

CAIRO - Egypt and Saudi Arabia yesterday backed an upcoming US-sponsored Mideast peace conference as a way to set the stage for a final agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, said Suleiman Awaad, a spokesman for Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak. He spoke after a meeting between Mubarak and Saudi King Abdullah. It was still unclear, however, whether the two countries would attend the conference, scheduled for late November in Annapolis, Md (AP)."

Words cost little.

"Police detain three rights activists"

CAIRO - Egyptian police detained three members of a Christian rights group yesterday, including its spokesman and lawyer, the group said. In predawn raids, police entered the Cairo homes of Wagih Yakob, 45, spokesman for the Middle East Christian Association, which favors secularism, and another member of the group. Later in the day, police detained lawyer Mamdouh Azmy. They have not been charged (Reuters)."

I don't hear a peep from the great Christian president over here.

"Presidential vote is delayed again"

BEIRUT - With just two weeks left before the president has to step down, Lebanon's parliament speaker yesterday postponed presidential elections for the third time to give rival factions more time to find a compromise candidate. The 128-seat Parliament, dominated by anti-Syrian legislators, is scheduled to meet tomorrow for another attempt to choose a successor to pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud (AP)."

As long as their is no violence and they work their problems out, fine.

"UN chief opposes troops in Somalia"

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has opposed the deployment of UN peacekeepers to Somalia and suggested instead a multinational force. In August, the UN Security Council called on the secretary general to begin planning for the possible deployment of UN peacekeepers to replace an African Union force that has struggled to put troops in the chaotic country (AP)."

"14 Saudis are home from Guantanamo"

RIYADH - Saudi authorities received a group of 14 Saudis yesterday from the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the state-run-news agency reported. This latest transfer of detainees brings the number of Saudi nationals remaining in Guantanamo to 22, the Saudi Press Agency said. It quoted Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz saying that those returned will be referred to Saudi courts (AP)."

Oh, isn't that sweet?

Saudi sends us their patsies for 9/11, we let the alleged terrorist go, and we are warring with Afghanistan and Iraq (and soon to be Iran).

Pfffffffffttttttttt!!!
