"Bhutto gets new death threat, will avoid mass rallies" by Associated Press October 24, 2007

KARACHI - Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto said yesterday that she had received a new death threat but will start campaigning in Pakistani cities in the next couple of days, avoiding mass rallies.

Bhutto said her lawyer received a letter from an unidentified "friend of Al Qaeda," threatening to slaughter her "like a goat."

[Was it on ISI letterhead?]

Bhutto, at her heavily guarded residence in this southern city:

"There are elements who want to kill us. They are petrified that the Pakistan People's Party will return [to power]."

[Yeah, who would that be? Mushy told you to stay away, right?]

The authenticity of the letter could not be confirmed. Bhutto said the writer claimed to be the "head of the suicide bombers and a friend of Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden,."

[Oh, O.K.! Ha-ha-ha-ha!]

Bhutto, after months of talks with the nation's president, General Pervez Musharraf, could see them working side-by-side in the next government.

[And CUI BONO, readers?]

"Bhutto Receives New Death Threat, Aide Says" by SALMAN MASOOD

KARACHI, Pakistan, Oct. 23 — Adding to concerns about the security of the opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, a close aide said Tuesday that Ms. Bhutto had received a new death threat, in the form of a two-page handwritten letter.

The letter, written in Urdu, came Tuesday morning in Karachi to Farouq Naek , the lawyer for Ms. Bhutto.

[Well, then, it's all legit, right?]

Mr. Naek, who is also a senator, said in a telephone interview:

There was great emphasis on two things in the letter. First, the letter read that no woman can be a prime minister and second, the assassination attempt will be made with a knife.”

The letter warned Ms. Bhuttoof a “big surprise” and the possibility of being attacked by a “woman commando.” It was not signed, but mentioned that it came from a “head of suicide attacks and a friend of Al Qaeda and Osama bin Ladin,” Mr. Naek said."

[Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!]

The Pakistan Peoples Party also said Tuesday that Ms. Bhutto was being restricted from leaving the country. Farhatullah Babar, a spokesman for Ms. Bhutto, said her name had been placed on an exit control list a day after her arrival in Pakistan.

[Hey, it's Pakistan's
WATCH LIST -- and Benazir made it!

Mushy wouldn't have his IS bomb the good lady, though, right?

Not for a CUI BONO political move?!]

Mr. Babar said a letter to the Interior Ministry asking for the removal of her name has been sent: “This is against the Constitution.”

[No wonder Bush likes Musharaff!]

Muhammad Ali Durrani, the Pakistani information minister, said he was unaware of any such step by the government. He said he would check on it.

Sherry Rehman, the information secretary of Ms. Bhutto’s party, said Ms. Bhutto remained undeterred by the threats, but added that Ms. Bhutto had asked the government to provide security not only for her, but for all political leaders."

[Aren't they doing that anyway?]
