It's when the Times midsections a piece on the front page. above the fold.
I have been a consumer (ha-ha, of you know what, reader) of this type of thing for a number of years.
So, here is today's lead with the new Judy Miller, Mike Gordon.
"Assessing the ‘Surge’: Hints of Progress, and Questions, in Iraq Data" by Michael R. Gordon September 8, 2007
[So your week-ender shit-eater will gain the impression that, "the surge is working," as they head off on their Saturday fun!!
DISGUSTING!!!!
Now, I didn't read it. I'm sick of taking up time with political propaganda.
Like the withdrawal of troops headlines earlier this week, then, oh, no, no, that's not true.
But WHO HEARS that LAST PART?
Well, A LOT OF US do!! Blogs!!]
In reaching the turn-in page, I glanced and noticed something. so I returned to the front page:
"The most comprehensive and up-to-date military statistics show that American forces have made some headway toward a crucial goal of protecting the Iraqi population. Data on car bombs, suicide attacks, civilian casualties and other measures of the bloodshed in Iraq indicate that violence has been on the decline, though the levels generally remain higher than in 2004 and 2005."
[Really, Mike?
With about 35 people being reported killed per day -- by their own numbers -- how can this be?
Please explains the rise in Iraqis killed over the summer, as submitted by your own newspaper in an Sunday article.
Never mind the real number of Iraqis killed in this mis-begotten, murderous and woeful "surge," averages around 300 per day, although the shit War Dailies never report this.
That is exhibit A, reader! You need more?]
Gordo's answer:
The data, which was gathered by American military officials in Baghdad and which include the most recent figures for August, raise a series of important questions. Can the drop be sustained over the coming months, especially with the approach of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month in which violence has often increased?
Can the reduction in attacks ever be deep enough to make possible the kind of political reconciliation that American officials say has been arrested by the sectarian fighting? And can the improvement be preserved when American troop levels decline and the Iraqis assume more responsibility for their own security?"
[You forgot, "Is the information even accurate," a-hole!!!!!]
The unclassified version of the National Intelligence Estimate “Prospects for Iraq’s Stability,” which was released Aug. 23... noted that that overall attack levels had fallen “in seven of the last nine weeks.
The American military is not the only organization reporting that violence in Iraq has dropped. Iraqi government statistics on wounded and dead civilians generally run somewhat higher than those recorded by the American military. (American military officers say that General Petraeus’s command uses Iraqi government data, but omits reports that it concludes are duplicative or which cannot be corroborated.)
Still, the trend is similar: both the American and the Iraqi reports note a roughly 50 percent drop in
[And that is where the turn-in is.
COINCIDENCE??? Wait until you see what's inside!!
You know, the inside of the paper (where week-ender shit-eaters probably don't go like a lot of people -- read the front, forget the back).
THIS IS WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE INSIDE!!!!]
in the number of civilians who have been killed since the end of 2006. According to Iraqi government data, the number of civilians nationwide who died as a result of violent causes dropped to about 2,000 in August from about 4,000 in December 2006. American military statistics shows that the number of civilian deaths declined to 1,582 in August from 2,989 in December.
[THAT'S PROGRESS!!!!!!!??
ONLY 2,000 people DEAD last month!!!!!!!??
And that would ALL BY the UNITED STATES and it's ALLIES!
I stopped reading the piece at that point, because WHAT WOULD BE the POINT?!?!
The rest is ALL PROPAGANDA!!!!!!
Hey, don't take my word for it!
You can click on to my Times link for yourself, reader, and read the whole piece.]
