"Environmentalists ambushed; 2 die

DAKAR - Fifteen gunmen ambushed a vehicle belonging to an international conservation group in an eastern Congo gorilla reserve, killing two people and wounding three others, officials said yesterday. The assailants looted GPS trackers and personal items in Monday's attack in Virunga National Park, said Thierry Bodson, the local head of the environmental group, the World Wildlife Fund. The park is home to some of the world's last remaining mountain gorillas. The victims who were killed, both women, were not identified (AP July 10, 2008)."
