"33 held in Theater District sweep; Police posed as drug buyers for months" by Brian R. Ballou, Globe Staff | July 18, 2008

They worked the Theater District, selling crack cocaine to club-goers, nervous tourists looking to score, and local addicts. But in with the mix of potential customers were undercover teams of Boston police officers and state troopers, who for months posed as buyers and gathered information.

Yesterday, Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis announced the arrests of 33 people on drug charges. Suspects ranged in age from 14 to 54 and included a woman from Framingham, a homeless man, and several people recently incarcerated on other charges.

The sweep was dubbed Curtain Call. The sweep was made about a week after Boston police rounded up 50 suspected gang members and drug dealers in some of the city's toughest neighborhoods.

Most of the 33 were picked up yesterday morning on outstanding warrants. Last Wednesday, the Suffolk County Grand Jury, relying heavily on intelligence collected by undercover officers, issued indictments against 23 of the suspects, most of whom police rounded up early yesterday.

Davis described many of the suspects as well-known "impact players." Yesterday, during the news conference, the mug shots of 11 suspects were taped to a fold-out table.

Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley said illegal drugs have plagued the area for some time. "The Theater District is sort of in a no-man's land in terms of enforcement, and the area has had problems with drugs for more than 20 years," Conley said.

I guess these other guys were in the wrong gang, huh?

"10 arrested during series of Lowell gang raids" by Maddie Hanna, Globe Correspondent | July 20, 2008

Police arrested 10 people and seized weapons ranging from a MAC-11 machine pistol to semiautomatic handguns as well as bags of marijuana and $69,500 in cash during a series of gang raids Friday in Lowell.

The raids were the culmination of a 10-month investigation by city, state, and federal officials, who yesterday said the arrests and seizures dealt a significant blow to the Tiny Rascal Gang.

"We're talking a violent criminal enterprise that was very significant in the city of Lowell," police Superintendent Kenneth Lavallee said. "We've made a major move here."

Lavallee said the Tiny Rascal Gang has about 100 local members, most of whom are of Southeast Asian descent. The gang was founded in California, Lavallee said, and has gradually spread east.

The gang's membership has grown in Lowell as the city's Cambodian population has expanded, he said. Gang members have also been arrested on drug and firearm possession charges.

Yeah, but if you mention immigrants and gangs, the agenda-driving MSM tags you as a racist!

They just here trying to feed their families!!!

I'm so sick of being fed MSM slop, readers!!

How many times do I have to type it, anyway?

Lowell police, State Police, US Attorney Michael Sullivan's office, the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the FBI contributed to the investigation, officials said."

Sig Heil!
