Georgia's Spiritual Future President

It's doing the old NYT fade as quick as booze through a goose:

"Challenger Named in Georgian Election" by MICHAEL SCHWIRTZ

TBILISI, Georgia, Nov. 12 — Georgia’s opposition nominated the owner of a winemaking company on Monday to face President Mikheil Saakashvili in early presidential elections, scheduled for Jan. 5.

The candidate, Levan Gachechiladze, is a member of Parliament from the opposition New Rights Party and founder of Georgian Wines and Spirits. At a news conference on Monday, he accused Mr. Saakashvili’s government of terrorizing political opponents.

Mr. Gachechiladze, in an interview, adding that he and his opposition partners would do so using democratic means:

The first message will be that we have to destroy the regime of Saakashvili.”

Mr. Saakashvili announced early elections, a decision seen as both an attempt to quell political unrest and to catch the opposition off guard. The move to nominate a candidate appeared to be a show of unity for the 10-party opposition coalition, which in the past has seemed fractured.

So Saakashvili's PLAN WORKED!

He diverted attention to the upcoming campaign, just as he wanted!

SUCKERS!!!!!!

Though opposition members said they would begin campaigning for the presidency immediately, it was unclear how they would do so, given restrictions on political demonstrations and the news media under the emergency decree still imposed on the capital. The decree, extended until Nov. 22 by a Parliament dominated by the president’s supporters, was accompanied by a near-blackout on news and restrictions on political freedoms."

Gonna be a hell of campaign, huh?

How much you wanna bet
Saakashvili wins?
