MRSA Madness

Another stink story -- literally, in this case!

"Health Officials Try to Calm Parents About Staph" by JENNIFER MEDINA and RAY RIVERA

Some angry and nervous parents kept their children out of a Brooklyn middle school yesterday, the day after learning about the death of a student who had been infected with a virulent, drug-resistant strain of bacteria. But school and health officials tried to assure parents that all the proper procedures had been followed and that there was no cause for panic.

The city’s health commissioner, Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, said that because the boy had not been involved in any organized team sport at school, there was no need to screen every student. He emphasized that the most important precaution was for students to wash their hands and not share personal items like towels and sports uniforms.

WTF?!?!

Is this a panic scare for Pavlovian testing, or is the bastard trying to minimize some bio-weapons stealth infection?

And what kind of schools do we have where the kids are sharing, what, jocks?

Where the schools are filthy?

We have BILLIONS for WAR, yet we can't keep the kids from getting sick from sloth?

Just have to wash hands?

Something just don't smell right to me, people!

Felix De La Cruz, who kept his sixth-grade daughter, Natalia, at home yesterday, went to the school around lunchtime to ask questions of officials, like where Omar contracted the infection:

I won’t send my child back until I can be sure it’s safe. I can’t be sure. The gym, the school has been sanitized, but I want more answers before I bring my daughter.”

I'd say keep her home for good and HOME SCHOOL, sir!!!!!

Joel Lonergan, the head of school facilities at I.S. 211, said that in their wash-down of the school, custodians wiped off all flat surfaces with a disinfecting solution. The cleaning was completed Thursday night. A complete cleaning is done about three or four times a year, Mr. Lonergan said.

Then WHAT is the PROBLEM?

Dr. Frieden commented: “Just please remember that cleaning of the environment is very unlikely to make any difference in the spread of infection. It’s something that’s done so people feel better, but this isn’t what’s going to reduce the spread of bacteria.”

Sigh! Then WTF?

School and health officials said they did not plan a scrub at other schools. Several students said soap at the school was often difficult or impossible to find.

Billions for Wars, not even SOAP for the kids!!!! I'm starting to get angry!

Mr. Lonergan said that soap dispensers were checked each morning and that there should be soap readily available:

It’s a custodial issue. We inspect the schools on a regular basis, unannounced. So we would pick that up. But it could have been that a child was in there before and emptied the soap dispensers.”

This Health Commissioner is great, huh? Y

Yeah, we check the stuff daily, must have been vandalism by the kids.

Gimme a fucking break!!!

And the kids hear this shit.

They are not fooled, and they are likely offended!

Like I am! Pfffffttttt!

Lloyd Clarke, a retired teacher, said he had given his daughter, Sabiyah Warren, a bottle of hand sanitizer:

It’s pretty horrific, but I am sure everything is under control now. I trust the school and the health department.”

Yeah, trusting the ol' health and school departments, huh?

The same one that poisoned your kids, and then blamed them for being dirty and stealing soap?

Read some of my Health or Education posts, readers!

Sabiyah added that she was “a little scared at first,” and that her teachers had instructed her and her classmates to “make sure to wash our hands, use our sanitizer and make sure to not share things with other children.”

Yeah, atomize the kids from each other, and drill out the sharing instinct.

Ever see two small kids together with candy and no adults around?

One kid usually offers the other some unconditionally.

Selfishness is TAUGHT!

Across the region, health and education officials are scrambling to keep better track of MRSA cases in schools, and to educate teachers, students and parents on how to prevent the infection’s spread. Yesterday the Connecticut governor, M. Jodi Rell, authorized a new program that will enable the state health lab to pinpoint MRSA outbreaks more quickly by using DNA to determine whether bacteria from different patients are related."

See where it's all heading, readers? Alex Jones was frikkin' right!!!!

Of course, after telling you to relax and wash your hands, the Times pushes the panic button with the article next door:

"MRSA Warning Signs and Preventive Measures" by TARA PARKER-POPE

The bacterial infection surfacing in schools and other settings around the country is called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA. It is primarily a skin infection, often resembling a pimple, boil or spider bite at its onset. But it quickly worsens into an abscess or pus-filled blister or sore and can become serious if it enters the bloodstream.

Experts say that patients who have sores that will not heal or that are filled with pus should see a doctor and ask to be tested for staph infection. They should not squeeze the sore or try to drain it — that can spread the infection.

What in the world did they loose on our children?

The vast majority of MRSA cases happen in hospital settings, but 10 percent to 15 percent occur among otherwise healthy people, often those who are prone to cuts and scrapes, like children and athletes. MRSA typically spreads by skin-to-skin contact, crowded conditions and the sharing of contaminated personal items.

Which kids are all up and in each other? WTF?!

Groups who seem to be at increased risk include those who have regular contact with health care workers, those who have recently taken antibiotics like fluoroquinolones or cephalosporin, military recruits, prisoners and men who have sex with men.

So where do our children fit in here?

WHAT the FUCK?!?!

Experts advise parents to remind children and teenagers that personal items like brushes, combs, razors, towels, makeup and cellphones should not be shared. And extra vigilance should be used in health clubs and gyms — staph grows rapidly in warm, moist environments.

Can I use your cellphone? No!

This is really stinking, folks!!!

It's a test drill to see how obedient everyone is, and how gullible we are.

And I'll bet they grow good in a government lab, too!!!!

The necessary precautions should be explained to student athletes, particularly those in contact sports who often suffer cuts and spend time in locker rooms. Gym equipment should be wiped down. Scrapes and sores should be kept clean and bandaged — minor cuts and scrapes are the way MRSA takes hold.

They are not now? Not enough money for supplies or a nurse, huh?

But BILLIONS for WARS and WAR PROFITEERS!

Experts also note that the misuse or overuse of antibiotics allows bacteria to evolve and develop resistance to drugs. Antibiotics should be taken only when necessary, they advise, and patients should take the full course of pills prescribed.
