TAUNTON - Authorities were searching last night for the killer of two brothers who were fatally shot yesterday in a Taunton apartment where young children were present, police said....
The slayings occurred in a rear apartment of a white three-story house on Somerset Avenue (Route 138). Investigators searched inside and outside the apartment last night with flashlights.
The investigators also used spotlights to illuminate the scene and dusted the apartment's door for fingerprints as stunned neighbors watched.
"This is a very quiet neighborhood," said Susan Festa, 43, a neighbor who went outside to watch investigators work at the scene. "This is a complete shock. Nothing like this ever happens here."
Police said the slayings were the first this year in the city of nearly 57,000 in the state's southeastern corner."
