Britain to Wiretap "Al-CIA-Duh"

If this will reduce detentions without charge, why is Brown pushing for an extension of that, too?

Pffffffffttttt!!!

"Britain: Brown Backs Use of Wiretaps in Court" by REUTERS

"Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave the green light for wiretap evidence to be used in court cases, provided strict conditions are met. The move would end an unusual culture of secrecy surrounding telephone taps in Britain, one of the few countries where secret tapings are not used to secure convictions. Advocates say the use of wiretap evidence would make it easier to secure convictions of terrorism suspects and reduce the need for harsh measures like lengthy detention without charge. The security services are against the plan, fearing exposure to public scrutiny would undermine their tactics."

What tactics?

These?
