Veterans Day War Front: Worshiping the Warfare State

And the Wartime Mass-Murderer-in-Chief that brought you them:

"Bush honors troops in Texas ceremony; Declined to chide Congress for delay on spending bill for veterans affairs" by Deb Riechmann/Associated Press November 12, 2007

WACO, Texas - As America marked the fifth Veterans Day since the invasion of Iraq, President Bush honored US troops past and present at a tearful ceremony yesterday for four Texans who died there.

Bush, at American Legion Post 121 in Waco:

"In their sorrow, these families need to know - and families all across our nation of the fallen - need to know that your loved ones served a cause that is good and just and noble. And as their commander in chief, I make you this promise: Their sacrifice will not be in vain.

These men and women saw the future of the terrorists' intent for our country and they said with clear voices, 'Not on my watch.'

America is blessed to have such brave defenders. They are tomorrow's veterans and they are bringing pride to our country. Their service is noble and it is necessary.

The enemies who attacked us six years ago want to strike our country again, and next time they hope to kill Americans on a scale that will make 9/11 pale by comparison
."

Remember that the false-flagging, inside -job mass-murderer said all that, will ya, reader?!

See what they have planned next for their "Al-CIA-Duh" assets?

In Washington yesterday, retired general Colin Powell and Senator Chuck Hagel, Republican of Nebraska, spoke at a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the National Mall. The black granite memorial was dedicated 25 years ago tomorrow.

Powell, a Vietnam veteran and former secretary of state who helped lead the nation into the divisive war:

"There are no politics here, no policy disagreements. [The memorial is a] sacred place."

Yup, here we must swear our fealty to the warfare state, even if it is constructed on the most base and deceptive lies imaginable!!!!!!

Since the V-shaped wall was completed, it has become a de facto shrine. More than 100,000 mementos of the dead and messages from survivors have been left there by the millions who visit it each year.

Vice President Dick Cheney, in a 10-minute speech:

"[Soldiers from World War I to] the current fight against terrorism have served their country valiantly and kept us free at the land we call home. Free to live as we see fit, free to work, worship, speak our minds, to choose our own leaders. May the rest of us never take them for granted."

Fucking Dogshit Liar!

Uh, Dick, about
STAND DOWN ORDERS on 9/11?!

Watch the
video!

Hundreds of people of braved the crisp November weather to witness Cheney's tribute and cheered when he offered personal regards from Bush. Cheney placed a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Cheney quoted General David Petraeus, the top US commander in Iraq, in saying troops there are fighting in a complex and challenging situation, and praised them:

"[A magnificent job. Our conduct of our military today and throughout our nation's history makes this country very proud. It is our prayer they will return in victory, safely home, to live out their lives and be here to observe many Veterans Days to come."

Dick's greatest dream. Veterans Days unending!

And I'm not proud of torture and mass-murder being carried out in my name for AIPAC, asshole!

But be sure to
worship the wars!

A Stark Reminder of War, 25 Years On by RAYMOND HERNANDEZ

WASHINGTON, Nov. 11 — Throngs of veterans gathered on Sunday under a clear sky on the Mall to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a stark symbol of a war that bitterly divided the nation.

In a poignant reminder of that tumultuous time, the veterans wept, prayed or reminisced at the stone memorial inscribed with the names of 58,256 Americans killed or missing in the Vietnam War.

Joe Hatathle, 63, who was an Army engineer in Vietnam and who traveled here from Rock Point, Ariz., to attend a ceremony to rededicate the memorial:

I can hardly explain how I feel. It’s a mix of sadness and pride.”

At a time when the nation is divided over the war in Iraq, the gathering was, to many in attendance here, a momentary break from the politics of war.

It was a sentiment that seemed to be summed up by the ceremony’s keynote speaker, Colin L. Powell, a Vietnam veteran who when he was secretary of state pushed the United Nations Security Council to adopt a resolution demanding that Iraq comply with weapons inspections or face the prospect of war.

Mr. Powell, at the ceremony, calling the memorial “a sacred place.”:

There are no politics here, no policy disagreements.”

The ceremony was one of many gatherings held across the country on Veterans Day.

At nearby Arlington National Cemetery, Vice President Dick Cheney laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns and, in a speech, paid tribute to members of the American military fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr. Cheney: “Gathered as we are today in a time of war, we’re only more sharply aware of the nation’s debt to the members of the armed forces. They are constantly in our thoughts.”

War is constantly in Dogshit's mind. Imagine my surprise!

The Vietnam memorial was dedicated on Nov. 13, 1982, a black, V-shaped monument of granite on the mall between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.

It was the creation of Maya Lin, who was an architecture student at Yale at the time. The selection of her design was controversial then. Ms. Lin did not attend the ceremony, but she sent a message that was read to the crowd saying, among other things, that she never foresaw the powerful emotional response the monument would stir."

WTF? Another Yalie?

Home of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, John Kerry, and
Skull and Bones?!!!

Not all veterans like the public, though! A lot of them resent the public.

Some veterans will observe day with resentment

Even though it is not us who are responsible for short-shrifting the vets when they return home.

Marine's mission on the home front

Turns out, the jingoistic, Support-the-Troops -- meaning support Bush's wars -- crowd doesn't take care of the vets when they return.

So don't be mad at me, vets!

And WOE to those who do not swear fealty to the perpetual warfare state -- even if they served!!!!

Buried on page B5, of course!

Foreign protests are more important than domestic ones.

Even when fake, like in Pakistan.

"18 arrested in antiwar protest by veterans" by Tania deLuzuriaga and Charles M. Sennott/Boston Globe November 12, 2007

More than a dozen members of an antiwar veterans group were arrested yesterday as they protested the exclusion of their message from Boston's Veterans Day parade.

Members of Veterans for Peace lined up in front of a podium at City Hall Plaza holding antiwar placards, as color guards from Massachusetts military units and JROTC bands from across the state filed into Government Center for a ceremony, sponsored by the American Legion, to honor veterans after the parade. Some protesters wore gags, which they later said symbolized the fact that, while they were permitted to march in the parade, they were prevented from carrying signs opposing the war in Iraq.

Winston Warfield of Dorchester, a member of the group:

"We were exercising our First Amendment rights. The First Amendment protects free speech, even when you don't agree with what's being said."

When Boston police asked the demonstrators to move from the front of the podium so that the Veterans Day services could continue, they refused. As the Boston Firemen's Band played The Marine Hymn, several protesters were placed in plastic handcuffs and led away.

Nate Goldschlag, a Vietnam-era veteran who was among those standing in front of the podium:

"Our free speech and civil rights are being abridged here. We are veterans, too, and we should be allowed to express our opposition to this war."

American Legion officials declined to comment.

Boston police said that 18 people were arrested - 15 men and three women. All were charged with disturbing a lawful assembly of people."

AmeriKa now a FASCISTA NATION!!!!!!!!!!

But the MSM dutifully hides it in the back pages, while SOME OTHER PLACE has unrest and unhappiness!

We all one big happy, war-supporting, Bush-loving populace here in the states!

Pffffffffftttttt!!!

FUCK YOU and your fucking WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!
