Six Polish soldiers were charged with murder and with violating international law in what prosecutors called an unprovoked attack in Afghanistan that left six civilians dead. The group is accused of firing mortars and machine guns without “any simultaneous, direct threat,” a military prosecutor said. The dead civilians included children; three women suffered wounds that resulted in the amputation of limbs. The soldiers were sent to the village after a Polish patrol struck a roadside bomb nearby.
