But we have been trying numerous times this year, through the authorizing process, the appropriations process and speaking to the American public to accomplish that objective. And we’re frustrated, but we’re not giving up.”

The White House also hammered the Democrats in Congress. Dana Perino, the White House press secretary, promised a veto and accused the Democrats of ignoring gains in Iraq.
