"China: Blair’s $500,000 Speech Is Panned" by AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE
Tony Blair was paid $500,000 for a 20-minute speech during a three-hour trip to a luxury housing development in southern Dongguan on Tuesday, Chinese newspapers reported as they questioned whether he was worth it.
No, he wasn't! Not at that ridiculous sum!
The fee was paid by a local property developer, and some newspapers criticized the whirlwind visit by the former British prime minister as a show of extravagance and said he produced little more than clichés.
The Guangzhou Daily said Mr. Blair’s Dongguan stop was just one of his “money-raking” trips in Chinese cities, including Hong Kong (Monday) and Beijing (Wednesday).
The China Youth Daily said that “there was nothing new” in the speech and that China was fast becoming a “gold-digging” market for international celebrities."
What's the matter, China? Don't like getting screwed like us?
