Osama "dead or alive" bin Laden would rather lose his kidney than pass up the opportunity to celebrate the eighth anniversary of September 11, 2001, on the United States. And like clockwork, he resurfaced in an 11-minute, al-Sahab-produced audiotape last week (sorry, no video, just a still picture), where he states how a series of grievances had "pushed us to undertake the events of [September 11]".

But there may be no mobile dialysis machine operating in a mysterious cave somewhere in one of the Waziristan tribal areas of Pakistan after all. According to David Ray Griffin's new book, Osama bin Laden: Dead or Alive? and based on a Taliban leader's remarks at the time, the mellifluous Saudi jihadi died of kidney failure in Tora Bora on December 13, 2001. Problem is, by that time, according to local mujahideen, Bin Laden had already escaped across the mountains with a bunch of al-Qaeda diehards to Parachinar, in Pakistan, and then to a shadowy underworld.

A decoy? A ghost? The devil himself? Who cares? Bin Laden, the brand, is still very good for ("war on terror") business. All this with the Barack Obama administration insisting the US is fighting the elusive, seemingly eternal Taliban leader Mullah Omar and the Taliban plus al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, while General Stanley McChrystal - General David Petraeus' former top death squad operator in Iraq - insists there is no al-Qaeda in Afghanistan (but he wants up to 40,000 extra troops anyway).

Last week, Asia Times Online published Fifty Question on 9/11. The article stressed the questions were only a taste of the immense, mysterious 9/11 riddle. (Arguably the best 9/11 timeline on the net may be seen here.

Due to overwhelming reader response, here's a follow-up with 20 more questions - with a hat-tip to all who joined the debate.

1. In the first months of 2001, three years after Bin Laden's 1998 fatwa against the US, Mullah Omar wanted to "resolve or dissolve" the Osama-Taliban nexus in exchange for Washington maneuvering to lift United Nations sanctions. Would anyone from the first George W Bush administration confirm a solid Taliban offer? Kabir Mohabbat, a Houston-based, Paktia (Afghanistan)-born businessman also involved in the (failed) 1990s negotiation for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan pipeline, and then named by Bush's National Security Council as a key Taliban contact, has sustained that was the case.

2. Eight names on the "original" Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) list of 19 Muslim hijackers happened to be found alive and living in different countries; the FBI has always sustained that the identity of the hijackers was established from DNA collected at all four sites - the World Trade Center (WTC), the Pentagon and the Shanksville, Pennsylvania, crash site. Would the FBI explain how is that remotely possible?

3. All four planes referenced in the official narrative have thousands of parts with a serial number, plus tail numbers. Any one of these would have been enough to identify the plane(s). How come all of these parts disintegrated or vaporized? Why was not a single one of them recovered and/or matched up with all the mass of data about these four flights?

4. How come cell phones miraculously find a signal and work properly at 10,000 meters?

5. How to explain the enormous surge in "option puts" on both United Airlines and American Airlines on September 10?

6. How come the passport of alleged hijacker Satam al Suqami (and not Mohammed Atta, as reported) was miraculously found amid massive World Trade Center debris - either by "police and FBI" or by "a passerby who gave it to the NYPD", according to different versions?

7.Why was a military grade of thermite - a super-explosive - found at all sample sites surrounding Ground Zero? A peer-reviewed, scientific journal analysis is here.

8. How come Barry Jennings, who worked for New York City's Housing Department, reported on 9/11 to ABC News how he heard an explosion on the 8th floor of WTC 7? Jennings happened to die just a few days before the release of the NIST report on the WTC 7 collapse. A great number of actual 9/11 witnesses also heard and saw explosions going off inside the Twin Towers long before their collapse. A montage of news reports about these explosions can be seen here.

9. Why did the BBC confirm live on air the collapse of the WTC 7 building - which was not even hit by any plane - no less than 23 minutes before it actually collapsed? In the BBC live report, the WTC7 building is shot still standing.

10. Why there has been no investigation of Dov Zakheim? He was a prominent member of the Project for the New American Century group, and chief executive officer of SPC - a company making systems for remote control of airplanes - for four years prior to 9/11. Six months before 9/11, he became supervisor of a group of Pentagon comptrollers responsible for tracking no less than $2.3 trillion missing from the Pentagon books; many of these comptrollers died on 9/11.

11. The "five dancing Israelis" question. How come Oded Ellner, Omer Marmari, Paul Kurzberg, Sivan Kurzberg and Yaron Shmuel had set up a video camera on top of their white van pointing at the Twin Towers even before they were hit? Later they were seen celebrating. The FBI established that two were Mossad agents and that their employer, Urban Moving Systems, was a front operation. The investigation about them was killed by the White House. After being deported from the US, they admitted on Israeli TV that they had been sent to New York to "document" the attacks. How about other reports of vans packed with tons of explosives intercepted on New York bridges?

12. How come two US employees of Odigo, an Israeli instant messaging company based in Herzliya, the headquarters of Mossad, received an SMS about an attack on the WTC two hours before the fact?

13. How come there was no investigation of ICTS International, owned by Ezra Harel and Menachem Atzmon, and crammed with former Israeli Shin Bet agents? This was the company responsible for airport security at Dulles, Logan and Newark airports on 9/11.

14. Why was there no full investigation of the circumstances related to how Larry Silverstein leased the WTC only seven weeks before 9/11 - as facilitated by New York Port Authority chairman Lewis Eisenberg? Silverstein over-insured the WTC against terrorism and made an astonishing profit.

15. Why were anthrax packages mailed to the only two US senators who voted against the Patriot Act?

16. Why did situation room director Deborah Loewer follow Bush to Florida on 9/11 - considering that's not part of her job description?

17. Where are the full tapes from the Pentagon's security cameras? The hole in the Pentagon may be the most glaring hole in the official narrative - as the destruction caused by a Boeing 757 was simply not compatible with the size of the hole. Why were no significant plane debris and remains of passengers ever found?

18. Why did the 9/11 Commission not consult reputed engineers and architects to show that in the real world, steel and concrete skyscrapers simply cannot dissolve into molten metal and fine powder in only 10 seconds after very localized and relatively low-temperature fires? Kerosene simply cannot melt steel.

19. Why did the 9/11 Commission not consult airline specialists who insist trainee pilots who had practiced on very light aircraft for a few weeks simply cannot land a jet on the ground floor of the Pentagon after allegedly slicing through half a dozen light poles and evading a series of trees, cars and overpasses?

20. How come no one investigated claims by the two co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission, Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, who wrote in the New York Times on January 2008 that the Central Intelligence Agency "failed to respond to our lawful requests for information about the 9/11 plot [and] obstructed our investigation?"

For many years now, there have been signals of a plan to create a single world government. This is hardly a new idea. Many leaders have desired global government throughout the ages. Hitler, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Attila, the Roman Caesars; every century or so humanity is cursed with a maniac or maniacs who are willing to slaughter millions of their fellow human beings for the chance to stand atop a temple built to their own vanity and scream "I am the King of the World" or variations thereof.

As you probably figured out by now, I oppose a one world government. History has shown that the larger a nation is, the more aggressive it tends to be, even towards its own people. What if Hitler had been elected leader of a global government? Who could or would have stopped him? What if a new global government falls into the hands of a Vlad Dracul, or Erzabet Bathory?

Second, national borders serve the same function to the planet that fire doors do to buildings and watertight doors do to ships; prevent a calamity in one location from becoming a catastrophe that destroys the whole system. If you prop open the fire doors and watertight doors it feels like things run faster and more smoothly, until a fire starts or the hull springs a leak. Indeed, it was globalization which allowed a US financial collapse to drag down much of the rest of the world with it.

Finally, when humanity has multiple nations, with old nations collapsing and new nations being created, society continues to evolve to find something better for itself. A single world government will first and foremost preserve and perpetuate itself. The status quo becomes the prime god of a one world government. Even the history of the United States, a supposed bastion of Democracy and freedom until recent events, shows a strict intolerance for alternative theories of government.

The sad feature of political power is that it attracts the very sort of people who should never be allowed to have it. Rulership of an entire planet is a powerful lure and those people willing to do anything to obtain such power are usually equally willing to do anything with it once they have it. Again, see history's prior examples for the precedent.

The push for global governance has been building. Various concocted reasons for the necessity of a global government are being presented to the public. Recently, Al Gore admitted that part of the agenda behind the global it-really-is-warming (honest) cult is to create the illusion of a global problem (climate change) to justify a global governing authority. Likewise, the hyping of the when pigs fly flu appears to be intended to create the illusion of a need for a global health authority, a "super" WHO, with enforcement powers.

Thus it is with a certain amount of surprise that I watched in recent days as the rug was pulled out from under the globalists by no less than Israel, and not just once, but three times!

The first time was when the United Nations voted to require Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and allow IAEA inspections. Israel has refused, and nothing more is expected to come of this.

The second time was during Ahmadinejad's speech at the United Nations. On queue, the US, France, Canada, New Zealand and a few other delegations all walked out of the room as soon as Ahmadinejad started talking about Israel's war crimes. These nations, it should be noted, purport to support freedom of speech. What is ironic is that in listening to Ahmadinejad's speech at the United Nations, he is only saying what the United Nations' own recent report on Israel's war crimes in Gaza is already saying. Those delegations that left in their haste to please Israel apparently do not understand that by so doing, they undermined the United Nations itself.

The third time was when the United States vowed that it would keep the United Nations report on Israel's war crimes in Gaza from ever reaching the International Criminal Court.

So here is my point. You cannot have a successful global government if you cannot govern the entire globe. You cannot have global government while one nation comports itself as if it is above the laws that all other nations live by. You cannot have a global government when one nation is held to be above criticism by the institutions of that very global government.

As long as Israel can commit war crimes with impunity, or ignore international nuclear safeguards, global government is impossible, and as of this display seen this last week, not even credible.

Iran has no nuclear weapons program, Israel does and Israel lets no weapons inspectors into their facilities. They are not a signatory to the nuclear arms pact while everyone else in the world seems to be. The boogeyman is appearing everywhere all of a sudden. The dead Bin Laden is making speeches, moon-walking like Baron Samedi or an Egyptian mummy if you prefer that image. Ayman al-Zawahri is broadcasting from an undisclosed location as an unidentified Mossad or CIA agent and the non-existent Al Qaeda is marching over mountains and across the seas and even walking in sky as they trot out their state of the art communications system that has everyone in the non-existent organization in constant contact with all their non-existent associates.

The FBI keeps getting caught running false flag operations and had the misfortune of lying to the New York City Police Commissioner who swept into the ‘setup’ and found… wait for it… nothing at all. Now the FBI is leaking all sorts of embarrassing information about New York City cops as a payback.

The economy is in the toilet. The Federal Reserve says they are not going to let investigators look at their cooked books. Apparently, the Rothschild’s, who own the Federal Reserve and J.P. Morgan and maybe the whole world (who knows?) aren’t happy with the demands that they show the world how much they’ve been stealing and for how long. The last time there was pressure for transparency with The Fed, ‘somebody’ shot the president.

The stock market is a marvel to behold. There’s no reason for it to be going up and so on and so forth, so we have to assume that Goldman Sachs and their kindred from the deep places in Mordor are artificially stroking the market until they can get to the point where they can unload all that useless paper on the public yet again.

Mikhail Shashkavili is swaggering around like a belligerent drunk at 5’ 2” and a hundred and twenty pounds, making noises like he’s going to have a cage match with a 900 pound bear. Georgia is one big Zionist summer camp so it’s no surprise what’s going on there.

Over and over the crack whore press repeats the lie that Ahmanedijad has threatened to wipe Israel off the map. Over and over they get busted for lying and they’re still at it. We’re hearing the usual lies about thousands of people being tortured and murdered in secret Iranian prisons. We’re hearing about how the election was fraudulent but it wasn’t. We’ve heard that Ahmanedijad is more dangerous that Hitler and yadda, yadda.

There’s only one predator nation that is responsible for all of the Mid-East chaos and that is Israel. They casually murder Palestinian women and children in front of the world; you are not allowed to believe your lying eyes. The Palestinians are squeezed into ever smaller areas while being denied medical treatment, food, well… anything they need they are denied. They are harvesting the organs of these captive people as if they were livestock and there was a demand for sweetbreads. It could be a culinary thing. It doesn’t have to be transplants. You have to analyze what would be the most evil thing and then you pretty much have it.

Anyone who can drop a million cluster bombs on the people of Lebanon AFTER peace had been agreed on is capable of anything; Bombing UN outposts? No problem. Driving large extended families out of their residences and machine-gunning them down in the streets? All in a days work. Strapping children to the hoods of their vehicles, while they look for people with white flags to assault with white phosphorus and DIME weapons, it’s a piece of cake.

This is the time of unveiling so we are seeing it all. The psychopaths are exposing themselves by their behavior each and every day. The whole world is coming to see what’s happening. An arrogant moron who was not legally elected once is replaced by a Mr. Slick who was going to put an end to the warmongering and… he expanded the operations.

High ranking members of the CIA went on record and said there was no Al Qaeda. It was a creation of the neo-cons that acted as a straw man for a public with straw in their heads. Members of intelligence services around the world; in Italy, Japan and other locations have all said that 9/11 was an Inside Job. Moving right along…

Like I said, this is a time of unveiling. This ‘is’ The Apocalypse and time is getting short for the long time miscreants who have visited so much suffering and terror upon people around the world. They’ve got thirty balls in the air as well as some chainsaws and flaming bowling pins and they’re coming down the street talking about Swine Flu; Al Qaeda, Pakistani insurgents, Iranian nuclear weapons programs and anything they can think of in a desperate attempt to get you to believe that they are not the responsible parties behind just about every bad thing going on anywhere at any time.

It seems to me that you have to be honest to see the truth. If you are not honest then your perspective is skewered by your dishonesty and denial. This is why they can’t tell the truth and why a certain portion of the public can’t believe the truth. Every day the magnitude of the lies and the dreadful behavior of the few are being seen more widely and more deeply into.

Given all of the things I’ve pointed out here it seems pretty certain that any day now… any day now they are going to launch a series of violent actions that can be blamed on the people they want to destroy because… because that is what they do. They kill and maim. They bankrupt and release diseases and toxins. They’re made differently than you or I. They aren’t human. They wear the mask but a beast is behind the mask. It’s an ancient thing that has moved through the human herd for centuries and centuries. It’s coming out now and they don’t know what to make of it. They managed well over the years as they set traps and practiced treachery, accusing whomever they pleased of the actions they committed themselves. Things aren’t going according to plan though.

Wherever you are is wherever you are. I don’t know what to tell you about that. I’d stay out of the cities though. These people are serious and completely devoid of conscience. Look at what they have done in previous decades. When you can print the money you can call the tune. When you can print the money you can decide who gets the money. Since no one can see what you are doing you can do anything you want. It’s a nice setup.

I don’t know how it’s going to shake out but it’s coming to a head. I can’t lose the feeling that they are going to shoot themselves in the foot. The cat’s been out of the bag for awhile now. The awareness of the sleeping public increases every day. They’ve got away with it for a long time. Maybe they will continue to and maybe they won’t. I’m thinking there’s more going on that they or we know about. We’ll see.

When is an American Not an American?

"How much violence against Americans overseas will U.S. accept?

HERE’S a riddle. When is an American not an American? Answer: When he or she opposes crimes committed by Israel.

Tristan Anderson of Oakland, Calif., stood in a Palestinian village, Ni’lin, taking photographs March 13. He was shot in the head by a special high-velocity tear gas grenade and is grievously injured.

He wasn’t hurt by an Arab "terrorist." He was shot by someone in the Israeli army, which the United Nations says is illegally occupying the West Bank of Palestine.

Anderson was in the village taking part in a demonstration against theft of land. The Israelis intend to take a quarter of the village land and give it to Jewish-only settlements.

Now, you might think our government’s leaders would be screaming bloody murder about what was done to an innocent American. Think back to 1994, when an American who committed vandalism in Singapore was to be caned on his buttocks. Practically every politician in the country was outraged, and said so. Even President Bill Clinton made a statement.

When Israel is involved, it’s all different.

On March 16, 2003, Rachel Corrie of Washington state was run over and killed by a bulldozer in the Gaza Strip while trying to prevent Israelis from knocking down a Palestinian’s house. American and British eyewitnesses saw the bulldozer operator watch Corrie as he plowed over her, yet the Israeli investigation ruled it was an accident. No Israeli was punished in any way for the killing. The U.S. government did nothing for her family.

Now, it’s Tristan Anderson’s turn to face abandonment by his government.

He suffered a large hole in his forehead. Part of his brain had to be removed. An eye is severely damaged.

The tear gas grenade that hit him from less than 60 meters is a new-generation weapon. It can be shot over 500 meters because the grenade is self-propelling.

What are American politicians saying about this outrage? U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd says nothing. U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro says nothing. U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman? You might as well expect it to snow in Stamford in July.

What about the State Department, which is charged with protecting American citizens overseas?

On a TV show, Andrew Parker, U.S. consul general in Tel Aviv, said the State Department was "concerned," that it was awaiting an Israeli government report and that the United States had issued travel warnings about Israel.

That’s it. After all, the United States is a powerless country. It only gives Israel billions of dollars every year and every advanced weapon in the book. What’s the United States to do to protect its citizens against Israel?

I videotaped a similar West Bank demonstration in 2007. It was in Bil’in, which is fairly near Ni’lin. Palestinians, international supporters and more than a few Jewish Israelis walked with banners toward the separation wall, or as some Palestinians call it, "the Annexation Wall." Before they got anywhere near it, Israeli armed forces started shooting hundreds of tear gas grenades and rubber coated bullets. A Palestinian was shot in the head with a rubber bullet.

The violence being used against demonstrators is getting worse.

In Ni’lin, demonstrators are met with live bullets. One was shot in the leg the same day Anderson was injured. Four Palestinians have been killed in the last year, the youngest 11 years old. Demonstrators face being shot at with "skunk," which is described in the Jerusalem Post as a "foul-smelling liquid" and is believed to be sewage water. "A terrible stench — the smell of a rotting, dead animal," said Dr. David Nir, an Israeli peace campaigner. "Like jumping headfirst into a sewer."

Ni’lin actually made it to the news in the United States last July. An Israeli soldier shot a Palestinian protester who was under arrest, handcuffed, blindfolded and standing next to him.

This would have been ignored except for a youth with a camcorder, who caught it all and put it on YouTube.

The guilty soldier got a slap on the hand, eventually.

Anderson is 37 years old. He faces the possibility of many operations, loss of the eye and permanent disfigurement.

Will some American in government speak up for him? Are you listening, President Barack Obama?

And that was the way it all ended, during that fateful week in September, 2009, the week when one man, President Barack Obama turned the old order upon its head, giving us the blessed New Order we all share in today, in peace and harmony, no longer shackled to the wheels of war that drove the old solutions to humanity’s problems.

You see, it wasn’t always so. The world never knew real peace until our generation. Before the beginning of the current era, all of mankind’s resources were dedicated to an inhumane struggle for domination. There was no hope, as fear was civilization’s primary organizational factor. Alliances of mutual defense were created, borders were drawn, creating lines to be defended at all costs. People today cannot understand what went down in the past; very few of us are aware of the terrible price that was paid to create communities of men from cave-dwelling proto-humans. A global society that has been estranged to the world of fear can hardly fathom the “Week of Change” that marked the beginning of an era of harmony, that began with one man’s inner turmoil and ended with a decisive determination to create a better future for all mankind.

Between Sunday, the 20th of September and Saturday, the 26th, 2009, all the major actors on the world stage, including many of the bit players, were busily pursuing their only desire, the destruction of the earth for perceived self-advancement. President Obama was meeting with all the world’s leaders, trying to hammer-out a new economic order and hand the Middle East to Israel, while carving-out Africa, Central Asia and South America for the ruling cabal, when…something changed…Obama changed.

Maybe it was the deep vision of innocence he glimpsed in his daughters’ eyes, or a brief window into the potential future, into our time, the era of global harmony, but something within the man changed. I like to think that it was something that was already within him, that was there lying dormant, all along. During that fateful, wondrous week, the President of the United States of America remembered the people and the hope that had once inspired the Nation. He remembered the vision of hope that had often been shared by man and woman alike, as a Nation of simple folks struggled again and again, trying to see that the right thing was done, no matter how great the personal price and sacrifice that might be called for. He saw the great human need that screamed its own painful reality into every unhearing ear. He saw that he alone, was the key to fulfilling the need and fanning the flames of hope into a mighty transforming prairie fire of change, burning at the grass roots, feeding the flames of motivation that he had been helplessly calling for, up until then. The President of the United States took an extremely radical step and reclaimed the power of his office from the deceitful hands of the ruling class.

During the “Week of Change,” Obama was front and center, all over the world stage, fronting for the ruling empire, carrying-on with business as usual, never letting-on to the public or the corporate bosses what he had in mind, or the steps he had, in fact, already taken. Somewhere in the deepest recesses of the Pentagon, steps were taken to eliminate Israeli options for a first-strike on Iran, setting the stage for the peace pacts that soon followed, beginning with a nuclear free Middle East, as the first step to worldwide disarmament. The rogue spy agency, the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) was secretly harnessed, with all its assets impounded effectively ending the “intelligence-driven” war in Central Asia, giving oversight over the source of America’s continuing aggression to domestic intelligence (FBI). The Federal Reserve Bank was closed, with all of its assets seized, setting the stage for a global economic realignment and equitable settling of debts. With this decision, the US Government was bound by agreement to make good on all of its debts incurred while financing the global war of aggression, this included war reparations.

The world war of American aggression was immediately brought to a close, with all US forces bound by mutual agreement to serve the interests of the host governments, while an orderly withdrawal of American troops was made and all foreign bases turned-over to local authorities. The United States war machine was bound by mutual agreement to rebuild everything that it had been destroyed in its war of global conquest, effectively converting many military assets into construction and transportation equipment, “swords into plowshares.” Economic reparations extended to America’s racial wars, as well, providing massive economic stimulus to its black minority and several Western states to the remnant of the Native American Indian population.

Of course the repercussions for President Obama were many and they were severe, with multiple assassination attempts made upon himself and his family being the most immediate blowback for his bold moves, as well as the unforgettable attempted military coup which took place the following week and several smaller coup attempts in the ensuing months. Were it not for selective loyal government agents that Obama had grown close to in his journey to the Oval Office, and the millions of patriotic loyal Americans who flooded the streets and surrounded the White House at first word of the first attempt on the President’s life, we might not know the blissful existence that all of us now share. Were it not for the few, in support of the brave one, life as we know it would be over. The lucky few who survived the devastation that the ruling elite had planned would not even know what real hope was, any longer. What was potentially one of the darkest days in humanity’s history was converted into an everlasting light. Like flipping a switch, human potential came forth from the darkness that imprisoned it, into the light. Once freed, the good heart of mankind radiates outward, in all directions, filling the void of meaninglessness, pushing-back even further the edges of the stifling darkness that once imprisoned our souls.

Whatever explains it all, I thank God for it everyday, at regular intervals. The more I read from the remaining texts of that dreadful era, the more thankful I become. My research into the events that brought us to this point help me to understand the man behind the myth and the myth behind the man. The more I learn about Barack Obama, the more I realize that he is just a man, a man a lot like myself. He was not compelled to take the bold steps that he did, on the contrary, all the forces in his life, the really powerful ones that elevated him to his high position of service, were all pushing him onto an opposite path, to continue humanity’s destructive course. But there was a Higher Force behind it all, evincing a pattern of hope and opportunity for all, that, until then, could only be glimpsed, but never clearly seen. Lucky for us all, this one man turned-out to have a deeper desire to see through the matrix of despair, to catch sight of something much more.

Thanks to the concern of a single man, humankind, in fact, all the earth’s creatures, evolved just a little bit. Maybe I am reading too much into all of this.

Maybe its all just one man’s dream.

We attended an AE911 meeting recently. Compelling presentation. Pretty clear to most of us one or two hundred in the room (allied despite age, color, socioecopolitical differences) what had happened on 9/11.

One guy, though, started yelling in the back. He wasn't disagreeing. He was fed up. Frustrated. He wasn't crazy or unbalanced, either. Just fed up. He was asked to pipe down, but couldn't and he left. On the way out the door he shouted: "It's a spiritual battle." And so it is. A spiritual battle.

The author of another blog somewhere in the InterTubes, an exceedingly well-done little blog on 4th and "5th" generation warfare asked his readers, his readers who were demanding another 9/11 commission, or an explanation, he asked them (paraphrasing):

"Let's say you get your proof. They did it. Great. So, who is it exactly that are you going to tell?"

What was his point?

Folks, you're telling either (a) The Converted or (b) the Plotters and Powerbrokers themselves. What's the point? "A" knows, and "B" could care less.

Why not do something useful? Like what?

Well CERTAINLY NOT violence (as our esteemed host, Mike, points out, repeatedly and clearly).

But...you COULD disconnect from cable. Right?

Think of it....if hundreds, if thousands...if millions of people...Disconnected From Cable TV subscriptions... and all gave the reason "I am tired of the lies and the distractions", that would make a difference.

Think it through, folks. You're a corporate drone. You get around the watercooler. Suddenly, more than half the folks there, who have decided to disconnect, don't know that Michael Jackson died (while Israel loaded white phosphorous), don't know that Britney was out without her panties (while they burnt humans alive with it), don't know that "our team" won "the game" (while murdered bodies were returned by the Zio-Sraelis from Abu Kabir without any organs left in them.)

Suddenly, the trivia level would drop 99%.

Suddenly, ABCNNMSNBCFOX revenues would drop 5, 10, 15, 20%.

Somebody would notice.

So...why not (and ladies and gentlemen, I mean this with positive intent and in the most respectful way possible) why not Shut The Fuck Up and Stop Buying Cable?

It's simple, really. You can still watch movies, catch an occasional interview on YouTube. Can still rent Netflix, etc. By all means, still drop a dime in Mike's box each month. Do the same, a fortoriori, over at smokingmirrors.blogspot.com

But why not REALLY make a dent with your voter-dollars? Stop Buying Cable.

Because nobody REALLY cares what your fucking opinion is, do they?

Earlier this year a BBC Newsnight report claimed to have uncovered documents showing the Bush administration made plans to secure Iraqi oil even before the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US. Based on its analysis of PSAs in seven countries, it said multinationals would seek rates of return on their investment from 42 to 162 per cent, far in excess of typical 12 per cent rates.

Most of these attacks on 9/11 end up focusing not on the evidence itself, but on one inevitable question: “Why do ‘conspiracy theorists’ believe what they believe?” Of course, this question is coming from the self-same media conglomerates who speak in unanimity against 9/11 Truth and then wonder why newspapers are going the way of the dodo and people are turning off the TV in droves, so we can assume the question is either disingenous or that the corporate media bigwigs are, shall we say, intellectually challenged.

The biggest hole in the official theories is the fact that there is absolutely no forensic evidence supporting the Bush conspiracy theory. Certainly --no airliner wreckage was recovered in New York and the surviving steel was ordered destroyed by Bush but not before traces of thermate were recovered and subsequently tested, analyzed and confirmed. The presence of thermate is very nearly the smoking gun. Without thermate, the steel girders of WTC would never have weakened, collapsed or melted as they were, in fact, photographed.

WTC 7 is another fatal flaw, a nail in the Bushco coffin. WTC 7 was not struck by any airliner of any size. It was seen standing behind a BBC correspondent even as she reported its collapse. Clearly --she had gotten the official 'release' but screwed up by reporting this planned event before it, in fact, occurred. The fall of WTC 7, never struck by airliners, is a classic example of a controlled demolition.

At the Pentagon, only one engine rotor was found --not the two that would have survived to be recovered had an airliner struck the Pentagon. Moreover, the only rotor found was about one third the size of two rotors that would have been recovered had a 757 struck the Pentagon. There was no fuselage, no airliner wreckage! Unless the laws of the conservation of matter and energy have been repealed, a 757 weighing some 80 tons or more would have left behind just that much debris. Certainly, the small of amount of debris might have been carried off in wheelbarrows.

Desperate 'officialists' concede that no airliner fuselage was found. It 'vaporized', they 'explain'. Nonsense! The fuselage is of aluminum and according to every scientific, official or university source I have found, aluminum will not 'vaporize' at temperatures less than 11000 degrees F. According to NASA, 11000 degrees F is 1000 degrees hotter than the surface of the sun. So --you can rule that out!

Officialists also claim that DNA testing confirmed both passenger and 'hijacker' IDs. There are at least two things wrong with that assertion: 1) there are NO Arab names on the official autopsy report released to Dr. Olmsted in response to his FOIA; 2) if the fuselage vaporized as is claimed, then no DNA IDs would have been possible. DNA is often said to decompose when heated but, in fact, the effect is even worse: it literally melts. As heat is applied, bonds that join the two nucleotide strands may break.

The two molecules [nucleotides] are stabilized in this structure due to noncovalent bonds, mostly hydrogen bonds and vanderWaals forces. These bonds are not strong; accordingly, when the temperature rises sufficiently, the double helix is said to "melt" into its two component molecules, and will reassociate upon slow cooling under appropriate salt conditions. So, the issue is not decomposition so much as disassociation upon exposure to too high a temperature; and the reason for the disassociation is that the energy input of the heat overcomes the ability of the noncovalent bonds to keep the molecules together.

At the 11000 degrees F required to 'vaporize' the fuselage, I dare say no DNA would have survived, no DNA ids would have been possible at all. So --which is it? Did the fuselage vaporize or not? Were the DNA ids performed or not? The officialists simply cannot have it both ways.

The truth, however, explains everything. Lies explain nothing. The truth is: no airliner struck the Pentagon. The only 'official autopsy report' known to exist was released to Dr. Olmsted via his FOIA request. There were NO ARABS on the list!

Take the case of Flight 93. Saeed Alghamdi has been protesting his innocence of 911 since the event. If Saeed were guilty, he would be dead! If Saeed were guilty he would have been blown to smithereens over PA. A dead Saeed might be evidence of Bush's theory. Alive, he is living proof that Bush's official conspiracy theory is a pack of black hearted lies that have harmed the American people, the world and, most certainly, the cause of peace. Bush is the primary suspect for several reasons:

• Those who lie about crimes do so to cover up guilt. Bush has never told the truth about 911.
• Bush has not merely lied; he has actively, consistently and deliberately tried to cover up the crime of 911 with overt and identifiable instances of obstruction of justice, lies, and overt intimidation. This --I believe --is persuasive evidence of his guilt and/or complicity.

Tim Roemer let the cat out of the bag when, like Donald Rumsfeld, he referred to a 'missile' that struck the Pentagon. And that, I believe, is the truth that Bush would cover up and lie about.

If Bush had been innocent of the crime, he would have ordered every scrap to be placed in evidence. Instead, he obstructed justice by ordering destroyed the evidence of mass murder an high treason. If Bush had been innocent, why would he have ordered the destruction of evidence that might have proved his innocence in court? Within months of WTC collapse, tons of metal from the collapsed towers were sold to scrap yards in New Jersey where it was then sold to recyclers in the US and overseas. As the recent discovery of thermate proves, every shred, every scrap of 911 metal was evidence which, if examined, might have explained the collapse or pointed an accusing, indicting finger! Perhaps it is that last fact that explains the haste with which this 'evidence' was destroyed.

If Bush were innocent, then why would he have ordered the destruction of evidence that might have exonerated him? The only answer is that Bush is not innocent and ordered the destruction of evidence that would, in fact, prove his guilt of the crimes of mass murder and high treason against the sovereign people of the United States, the Constitution, US Criminal Codes and every moral code known to mankind since leaving the caves and savannahs.

Let's get on with the trials. Let's bring the guilty bastards to justice! There is no future until the demons of the past are dealt with, resolved and put to rest. No future is promising that is built upon a foundation of lies, high treason and the mass murder of US citizens by its own government.

"Random Thoughts About 9/11

Here we are once again: The anniversary of the most important world-changing event since Pearl Harbor. Like many other crucial historical dates, people remember exactly where they were and what they were doing on that date. I don’t want to get into all of the evidence for or against the government’s version of exactly what happened this day but, suffice to say, I definitely don’t believe what we’ve been told.

Basically, I want to think about some of the more human aspects to this, how we all think about it and why. Much of our lives and this country’s financial health in the last eight years and many years into the future, revolves around this seminal event in our history.....

Whenever I see photos or footage of people falling from those buildings, I’m drawn to it in a way that makes me feel ashamed. It’s like looking at photos of the dead. I think most people have a morbid curiosity about such things, but do not want to admit it. Yet it’s true, people look at things like that because they know inside themselves, sooner or later, they too will be like that.

To be standing in the windows of one of those Towers, desperately breathing in the air and with an inferno raging ever closer to you and wondering if you can possibly find a way to live. Only minutes before, the day was so normal — absolutely sunny and beautiful — and then, all of sudden, comes a terrible explosion literally out of the blue. Flames, smoke and heat drive you towards the windows and fresh air. Finally, with no options left, you decide to hurl yourself out into space, knowing you will soon brutally crash into the ground. It’s all simply too unfathomable for us to really understand. The utter fear that they must have felt, still rings across the years to this day.

For many years afterwords, I believed in the government’s theory of this event. In fact, I laughed to myself that people actually believed it false, something that everyone saw take place in “real time,” before their eyes and which never could have been orchestrated by our own side. Or so I thought.

And how could anyone possibly do something as horrible as this to their own people? I had heard some garbled story about five “Mediterranean” men arrested in New Jersey and wondered just what that was about and then why it disappeared so quickly. I watched the news about all the recriminations and revelations about incompetence and blindly accepted that, too. I mean, after all, the government could screw up an iron wedge!

But many things did not seem to add up. The inconsistencies and omissions spoke volumes — the more I looked into it, the more problems I found. No, I’d pretty much discounted all the outlandish stuff out there. I knew they were websites touting totally ridiculous theories like video fakery, laser-projected imagery, stealth jets and the like. I avoided all that, as much as possible.

But other things stuck out like giant thumbs. The five “Mediterranean” men turned out to be Israelis. My friend in Manhattan had actually read an article about it in the Bergen Record, a New Jersey local paper. Now, if these guys were indeed Israelis and were there before the first plane struck the North tower, than that would mean one thing — one very, very big thing: They had to know in advance. The article said the police had found maps on these men maps marked in such a way that the police immediately believed them to have been a part of the attack itself. And they also took photos of themselves celebrating and holding up lighters like they were at a rock concert — and all the while innocent people were obviously dying, for chrissakes.

The whole police business was covered up and classified. I read that the FBI confiscated everything and even told the local police keep quiet about it. The company these men worked for, called “Urban Movers,” closed up overnight and the Jew owner hurried himself and his family on to Israel (leaving everything behind). It’s certain that Urban Movers was an Israeli MOSSAD front operation. The five men were released and allowed to return to Israel by a dual-citizen of Israel, Michael Chertoff, previously in charge at the FBI and then as Director of “Homeland Security.”

All this, is not even half of the story. God, it’s so obvious the whole deal was MOSSAD from the very beginning. Of course they covered it all up.

I know the government can and does manage to keep secrets and that the media is more than willing to stay silent. With the continued revelations in the public about 9/11, mostly from the tireless efforts of just a few American Patriot civilians and the foreign press — I knew many of these facts should have received non-stop attention from a “free media.” It was then that I realized, with a sickening feeling in my gut, that we never really did have a free media, after-all.

It was a beautiful fall day when the attack came literally out of the blue. NORAD appears to have had a exercise called “Vigilant Guardian” or possibly even a ”live-fly” hijacking exercise called “Vigilant Warrior” for that very morning, maybe even for the exact same hour.* The 9/11 Commission hid this daming fact from the American people. Could this exercise have been used as cover to confuse and paralyze our people?

Now, after finding out more about the Dancing Israelis of 9/11, I read just about everything I could about 9/11. Both pro-government theory and the so-called “Truther” movement. Eventually, I concluded that the government was indeed hiding many things about it and more than likely, knew about it all in advance, at the very least. Many other details and evidence painted a much more horrifying conclusion: That Zionist elements within our government had an active hand in the whole thing.

I believe that this will all come out one day. There is way too much going on over this to be kept hidden away forever. The media has shown a purposeful disconnect with the public on this and it’s easy to see why. If 9/11 was ever fully revealed, then the actions and agendas of powerful forces, those who seek to turn this country and people into what they think we should be, not what we want to be, will be shockingly evident.

And yes, the Jew has good reason to fear this exposure because he knows that the only way something like this could be covered-up to this extent, is because the mainstream media is going along with the government’s version of events. Just like how they patently ignore anything to do with the North American Union, all of the Globalist’s doings and virtually anything negative pertaining to the State of Israel. These news people should be more than ashamed of themselves. They do not have our interest in mind.

And they know well that Jewish extremists, rabid Zionists and the MOSSAD have no problem with inflicting collateral damage in the pursuit of their global ambitions, both here and in the Middle East. Collateral damage as in people jumping to their deaths off skyscrapers on a beautiful fall day, eight long years ago.

Never forget those people who died that day and learn everything you possibly can about it while you still can. And, most importantly, be willing to speak up about it to every one you know. Don’t let people use ridicule to silence you: This tactic is directly attributable to Jews who purposefully make up crazy stuff as “disinfo,” right along with a media that we know cannot be trusted any longer as a “free press;” a media that should have the interests of America before the State of Israel, but obviously doesn’t.

"The Israeli Occupation of America: How Israel Gained Control of American Foreign Policy

"Israel need not apologize for the assassination or destruction of those who seek to destroy it. The first order of business for any country is the protection of its people."(Washington Jewish Week, October 9, 1997.)

I came from a country occupied militarily by Israel to the land of "the free and the brave" only to find out it too was occupied politically by Israel.

The Palestinian people, holding on to whatever shred of hope they can, are counting on the day Americans see the error of their ways and change their opinion of the whole Middle East situation and understand it for what it truly is-A conquered, oppressed people living a hellish existence under a maniacal, occupying power and who will then contact their representatives in Congress and have them put the heat on Israel in fulfilling the agreements she made years ago with the PLO such as Oslo, Taba, Camp David, Wye River, the Road Map, or even Annapolis.

The sad fact however is that the Americans-as much as they champion themselves as a "free people"-are in no better shape than the Palestinians. On the contrary, the American position is worse than that of the Palestinians. The Palestinians can identify the enemy-he is the one with the gun and blowing away their loved ones. They KNOW they are occupied and oppressed. They KNOW how Israel occupied Palestine, killed its inhabitants and forced the majority of those who survived the carnage out of their homes and lands to then live as strangers in refugee camps.

The Americans however, have no idea. Like a drug addict who thinks he feels great after shooting up, he does not realize he is a slave, to his substance and to his pusher. The history of how the Zionists' controlled England is not shrouded in mystery. Through Jewish control of the British government the Balfour Declaration was drafted that "gave" the land of Palestine to the Jews after WWI, a land they did not own or possess.

But how in the world did they occupy the United States politically? There is no real "Balfour Declaration" we can point to as proof.

Or can we?

Jewish influence in American politics-while there from the earliest days and certainly apparent during the Wilson, Roosevelt and Truman administrations-did not become the force it is today until the Kennedy era, or, rather, AFTER the Kennedy era.

As all know, in 1961 John Kennedy became the 35th President of the United States, a presidency cut short as a result of his assassination in Dallas on November 22, 1963. Robert Kennedy, the president's younger brother was Attorney General of the United States and therefore the head of the Department of Justice.

What is little-known is that the Kennedy's realized early on that indeed the country was in trouble and that something needed to be done about it. The trouble in this case was the influence slithering its way into American political life from a far-away state only about 12 years old known as Israel. Both Kennedy brothers, learning politics at their father Joseph's knee, understood the dynamic of this thing known as "Jewish interests", how it would play out and what the repercussions would be for America.

Of the many issues revolving around Israel and the Zionist question the two more important as pertains the Jewish state were (A) Israel's nuclear program, and (B) the issue of an organization known as the American Zionist Council.

According to Pulitzer Prize winning author Seymour Hersh, President Kennedy was profoundly committed to nuclear nonproliferation and was categorically opposed to nuclear weapons in the Middle East, which meant opposing Israel's nuclear program. Hersh states that JFK exerted heavy pressure on Israel to stop the program and was serious about it. At the time Kennedy was in the middle of crises mode with the Russians in trying to arrange a nonproliferation treaty with them and therefore Israel's nuclear program would be a big embarrassment. In addition to being an embarrassment it would open up the possibility of a nuclear conflict with Russia, given her allies in the Middle East, something made all the more believable in the aftermath of the Cuban Missile Crisis that almost resulted in a nuclear war between the two giants. John Kennedy had nightmares about the prospect of nuclear proliferation, saying "I am haunted by the feeling that by 1970, unless we are successful, there may be ten nuclear powers instead of four, and by 1975, 15 to 20.... I see the possibility in the 1970s of the president of the United States having to face a world in which 15 or 25 nations may have these weapons. I regard this as the greatest possible danger and hazard."

Secret letters and secret meetings between Kennedy and Ben-Gurion give a clear picture of the difficulty Kennedy faced in negotiating with the Israeli Prime Minister who stated many times that nothing will save Israel but nuclear power. According to author Michael Collins Piper in his book Final Judgment Ben Gurion wrote Kennedy saying: "Mr. President, my people have the right to exist, and this existence is in danger."

It does not take a skilled translater to figure out what Ben Gurion was saying, namely that Kennedy's opposition to nuclear weapons in the Middle East was seen as an existential threat to the Jewish people and their newly-formed state. Going further, Kennedy insisted on inspections of Israel's program as evidenced in a secret letter sent to then-Israeli Prime Minister Levy Eshkol that stated that American support of Israel "could be jeopardized" if the Americans were not allowed to inspect the Israeli nuclear facilities.

As if the aforementioned were not enough, there was another front in this private war between Kennedy and the "Jewish state" equally important in its scope if we are to understand what kinds of forces were at play here that led to America's change of policy with regards to Israel. It involves the issue of spying, bribery and the direct controlling of American politicians by a foreign power and the one creature at the center of all of it was something known as the American Zionist Council and the Kennedys' insistence it register as a foreign agent under the provisos of FARA, the Foreign Agent Registration Act passed by Congress back in 1938 to prevent German agents in the U.S. from buying their way into the American system of government and public opinion. The purpose of FARA was "to insure that American public and its law makers know the source of information- propaganda intended to sway public opinion, policy, and laws."

In other words the Kennedy's understood the danger of the Zionist Movement on the United States of America and treated it just like Germany was treated during the Hitler years. The Kennedy's understood the reality of the situation as it existed during their days in government, that the AZC was an agent of a foreign government, Israel, which would prevent it from buying American politicians and exerting the kind of influence over public opinion making that for all intents and purposes is now is a fait accompli.

Negotiations went back and forth between the Department of Justice headed by the President's brother Robert and the American Zionist Council. The council refused to register and the DOJ tried to exert pressure on them, even going so far in one instance as giving them 72 hours to register, but at no avail. Examining the newly-de-classified documents containing the minutes of those meetings between the DOJ and the AZC one can see the language of gangsters being used. In one of those documents dated May 2, 1963 the head legal counsel Simon H. Rifkind for the AZC explained to the representatives of the DOJ the nature of the AZC, saying "The council is composed of representatives of the various Zionist organizations in the United States" and thereby, in effect, it represented "the vast majority of organized Jewry within this country." The message was clear here-As far as organizations go it is big and powerful. Judge Rifkind obviously wanted to make sure the Kennedy's knew they were picking a fight with a gorilla and not some small mouse.

He did not stop there but went further by stating that the vast number of Jews who adhered to the principles of Zionism could not understand how "our administration" could "do such harm to the Zionist movement and impair the effectiveness of the council by insistence on registration."

Here Judge Rifkind made sure he used the phrase "our administration" instead of "our government" to make a specific point, namely that he was talking about Kennedy personally, that it was the Jews responsible for him getting elected and that if he continued with his agenda he was in effect entering into a war with organized Jewry.

Another meeting very much worth noting was held on October 17, 1963 between DOJ and AZC. In this meeting Judge Rifkind insisted on non registering, citing that fact that "It was the opinion of most of the persons affiliated with the Council that such registration...would eventually destroy the Zionist movement" and adding that he did not believe his clients would "file any papers or sign any papers indicating that the organization was an agent of a foreign principal". In other words, "Screw You America and your laws, we'll do what we want" as well as threatening the administration and telling them who really ruled the country, not the Kennedy brothers but rather the persons "affiliated" with AZC. Once translated from Gangsterese into understandable political language, this statement was in effect a direct warning/threat to the Administration that the war was on. It is up for grabs whether or not the Kennedys understood this to be the real threat it was, but nevertheless the Administration decided to continue with its position.

On November 22, 1963 President John Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. As the AZC went away into the sunset, AIPAC came riding in, born and led by the same persons who created and managed AZC for the same purpose. This time however, the message went out clearly for all on Capitol Hill to hear and understand-"Do not stand in our way of influencing public opinion, policy, or laws."

Obviously, the message has been effective, as all American leaders save a few such as James Traficant have done as instructed. According to the former Congressman, Israel receives $15 Billion worth of aid from the American Taxpayers without a single discussion or a single argument on the floor of either the house of Representatives or the Senate. Why? Because no one dares to question it. Why is it that most of our politicians make pilgrimage to Tel Aviv and the "wailing wall" in Jerusalem to get the blessing of Israel before they are even approved by their own political parties here in the United States? Why is it our Congress is always split down the middle on all other issues presented to them except when it deals with Israel? We all still remember the comment made by former Israeli Prime Minster Ariel Sharon to his Foreign Minister Shimon Peres in October 2001: "Don't worry about American pressure, we the Jewish people control America." When people with eyes to see state that fact they are called anti-Semites, despite the fact that what is being said is the truth.

The "control" Sharon spoke about has been there for a long time now. Consider what the late Senator Fulbright (who chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and who held hearings back in 1963 regarding the AZC and the fact it should be registered as a Foreign Agent registration) said when speaking on the CBS television program "Face the Nation" had to say-

"I am aware how almost impossible it is in this country to carry out a foreign policy not approved by the Jews...Terrific control the Jews have over the news media and the barrage the Jews have built up on Congress... the Jewish influence here is completely dominating the scene and making it almost impossible to get Congress to do anything they (the Jews) don't approve of."

These words were not spoken by a researcher or a reporter but by a brave American hero who actually lived through and experienced the Jewish influence over our political system and media.

This Israeli political occupation of the United States should not go on unchallenged, and American Jewry should understand that secrets cannot be hidden from the people forever. Nothing less than a revolution will correct this situation. The corrective action should be taken at the ballot boxes by electing people who are not afraid to challenge AIPAC and the likes and make America's Foreign Policy truly American and not Israeli.

As a first step in this process, let us keep the words of our dear martyred President John F Kennedy in mind- "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable".

Jahshan expressed her great concern after the victim was transferred to an unhealthy isolation cell after she complained formally against the sexual abuse by the warden. She said that the jailer spread the victims cell with poisonous chemicals and locked the door of the cell after five minutes.

The health of the minor is deteriorated after breathing the chemicals. She is vomiting and suffering of constant headache. The inhuman situation and ill treatment which the minor suffers is a clear violation of the duties contracted by Israel by signing the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and other treaties of international humanitarian law. The incarceration of this minor is equally a violation of obligations acquired by Israel to protect civilians, as she is incarcerated and mistreated by Israel solely for being a Palestinian.

Finally someone with enough sanity to give them a voice to tell their side of the story. I cannot say enough about Ken, we know him very well, he is a fine individual and it is a shame the British government (and the American government!!) do not have more like him. In a world exclusive, Ken Livingstone discusses religion, violence and the chances for peace with the Hamas leader Khaled Meshal

The key to peace in the Middle East is restoration of international law and the recognition of the right of both Palestinians and Israeli Jews to live in peace and security side by side. As President Obama says, there is no peace process today. Israel's prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, continues to extend illegal settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and maintain a near-complete blockade of Gaza. Palestinians fire ineffectual rockets into Israel. Israel regularly attacks Palestinian territories with modern weapons.

No major conflict can be resolved without each side talking to the other. That was the case in South Africa, Ireland and countless other situations where people said they would never talk to their opponents. I was vilified in the Eighties for saying that, to resolve the Irish conflict, you had to talk to Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.

In the Middle East, peace can only be achieved through discussion between the elected representatives of both the Israelis and the Palestinians - and that means Hamas, which won a big majority in the last Palestinian parliamentary election, as well as Fatah. This does not mean that I agree with the views of Hamas, Fatah or the government of Israel. Far from it: I do not. For example, I think a number of passages in the original Hamas charter are unacceptable and should be repudiated. Many observers believe that this is also the view of some in Hamas.

Yet, for too many people, Hamas as an organisation remains opaque. What they know about it is derived from a hostile media; it has no face. Most would probably think its leader is some disturbed Osama Bin Laden figure. In fact, al-Qaeda's supporters in Gaza are so hostile to Hamas that they have declared war on it.

For these reasons, I thought it important to interview the de facto leader of Hamas, Khaled Meshal, who lives in exile in Syria. Not every issue is clear. But at the beginning of any peace process, what matters most is engagement. Dialogue is necessary to get to clarity and mutual understanding. Sinn Fein did not answer every question at the beginning and neither does Binyamin Netanyahu today. The answers from Meshal come at a time of heightened tensions and renewed death threats against him, adding to the permanent danger of assassination bids not only by the Israelis, but also al-Qaeda supporters in the region.

I hope this interview will help to make the case for the dialogue that is needed, which I believe is inevitable. It is simply a question of how much suffering there will be, on both sides, before we get there:

Ken Livingstone: Could you explain a little about your childhood and the experiences that shaped your development into the person you are today?

Khaled Meshal: I was born in the West Bank village of Silwad near Ramallah in 1956. In my early age, I learned from my father how he was part of the Palestinian revolution against the British mandate in Palestine in the Thirties and how he fought, alongside other Palestinians using primitive weapons, against the well-equipped and trained Zionist gangs attacking Palestinian villages in 1948.
I lived in Silwad for 11 years until the 1967 war, when I was forced with my family, like hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, to leave home and settle in Jordan. That was a shocking experience I will never forget.

KL: What happened to you after the war?

KM: Soon afterwards, I left Jordan for Kuwait, where my father had already been working and living since before 1967. After completing my primary education in 1970, I joined the prestigious Abdullah al-Salim Secondary School. In the early Seventies, it was a hub of intense political and ideological activity.

During my second year at al-Salim school, I joined the Muslim Brotherhood (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun). Upon finishing my fourth year successfully I secured admission to Kuwait University, where I studied for a BSc degree in physics.

Kuwait University had an active branch of the General Union of Palestinian Students (GUPS), which had been under the absolute control of the Fatah movement. I and my fellow Islamists decided, in 1977, to join GUPS, which we had previously shunned, and contest its leadership election. However, working from within GUPS proved impossible; we felt constantly impeded and realised we Islamists would never be given a chance. By 1980, two years after I graduated, my juniors decided to leave GUPS and form their own Palestinian association on campus.

Many of the students had become disillusioned with the Palestinian leadership, who seemed intent on settling for much less than what they had grown up dreaming of, namely the complete liberation of Palestine and the return of all the refugees to their homes.

KL: What is the situation in Gaza today?

KM: Gaza today is under siege. Crossings are closed most of the time and for months victims of the Israeli war on Gaza have been denied ¬access to construction materials to rebuild their destroyed homes. Schools, hospitals and homes in many parts of the Gaza Strip are in need of rebuilding. Tens of thousands of people remain homeless. As winter approaches, the conditions of these victims will only get worse in the cold and rain. One and a half million people are held hostage in one of the biggest prisons in the history of humanity. They are unable to travel freely out of the Strip, whether for medical treatment, for education or for other needs. What we have in Gaza is a disaster and a crime against humanity perpetrated by the Israelis. The world community, through its silence and indifference, colludes in this crime.

KL: Why do you think Israel is still imposing the siege on Gaza?

KM: The Israelis claim that the siege is for security reasons. The real intention is to pressure Hamas by punishing the entire population. The sanctions were put in place soon after Hamas won the Palestinian elections in January 2006. While security is one of their concerns, it is not the main motivation. The primary objective is to provoke a coup against the results of the democratic elections that brought Hamas to power. The Israelis and their allies seek to impose failure on Hamas by persecuting the people. This is a hideous and immoral endeavour. Today, the siege continues despite the fact that we have, for the past six months, observed a ceasefire. Last year, a truce was observed from June to December 2008. Yet the siege was never lifted, and the sanctions remained in place. Undermining Hamas is the main objective of the siege. The Israelis hope to turn the people of Gaza against Hamas by increasing the suffering of the entire population of the Strip.

KL: How many supporters of Hamas and elected representatives of Hamas are there in prison in Israel? Have they all been charged and convicted of crimes?

KM: Out of a total of 12,000 Palestinian captives in Israeli detention, around 4,000 are Hamas members. These include scores of ministers and parliamentarians (Palestinian Legislative Council members). Around ten have recently been released, but about 40 PLC members remain in detention. Some have been given sentences, but many are held in what the Israelis call administrative detention. The only crime these people are accused of is their association with Hamas's parliamentary group. Exercising one's democratic right is considered a crime by Israel. All these Palestinians are brought before an Israeli system of justice that has nothing to do with justice. The Israeli judiciary is an instrument of the occupation. In Israel, there are two systems of justice: one applies to Israelis and another applies to the Palestinians. This is an apartheid regime.

KL: What part, if any, do other states and insti¬tutions, such as the US, the EU, Britain, Egypt, or the Palestinian Authority, play in the blockade of Gaza?

KM: The blockade of Gaza would never have succeeded had it not been for the collusion of regional and international powers.

KL: How do you think the blockade can be lifted?

KM: In order for the blockade to be lifted, the rule of international law must be respected. The basic human rights of the Palestinians and their right to live in dignity and free from persecution would have to be acknowledged. There has to be an international will to serve justice and uphold the basic principles of international human rights law. The international community would have to free itself from the shackles of Israeli pressure, speak the truth and act accordingly.

KL: Israel says that the bombing and invasion of Gaza last year was in response to repeated breaking of the ceasefire by Hamas and the firing of rockets into southern Israel. Is this the case?

KM: The Israelis are not telling the truth. We ¬entered into a truce deal with Israel from 19 June to 19 December 2008. Yet the blockade was not lifted. The deal entailed a bilateral ceasefire, lifting the blockade and opening the crossings.

We fully abided by the ceasefire while Israel only partially observed it, and towards the end of the term it resumed hostilities. Throughout that ¬period, Israel maintained the siege and only intermittently opened some of the crossings, ¬allowing no more than 10 per cent of the basic needs of the Gazan population to get through. Israel killed the potential for renewing the truce because it deliberately and repeatedly violated it.

I have always informed my western visitors, including the former US president Jimmy Carter, that the moment Hamas is offered a truce that includes lifting the blockade and opening the crossings, Hamas will adopt a positive stance. So far, no one has made us any such offer.

As far as we are concerned, the blockade amounts to a declaration of war that warrants self-defence.

KL: What are the ideology and goals of Hamas?

KM: Our people have been the victims of a colonial project called Israel. For years, we have suffered various forms of repression. Half of our people have been dispossessed and are denied the right to return to their homes, and half live under an occupation regime that violates their basic human rights. Hamas struggles for an end to occupation and for the restoration of our people's rights, including their right to return home.

KL: What is your view of the cause of the conflict between the state of Israel and the Palestinians?

KM: The conflict is the outcome of aggression and occupation. Our struggle against the Israelis is not because they are Jewish, but because they invaded our homeland and dispossessed us. We do not accept that because the Jews were once persecuted in Europe they have the right to take our land and throw us out. The injustices suffered by the Jews in Europe were horrible and criminal, but were not perpetrated by the Palestinians or the Arabs or the Muslims. So, why should we be punished for the sins of others or be made to pay for their crimes?

KL: Do you believe that Israel intends to continue to expand its borders?

KM: Israel does not, officially, have stated borders. When Israel was created in our homeland 62 years ago, its founders dreamed of a "Greater Israel" that extended from the Nile to the Euphrates. Expansionism manifested itself on different occasions: in 1956, in 1967 and later on in the occupation of parts of Lebanon in the Eighties. Arab weakness, Israeli military superiority, the support given to Israel by the western powers, and the massacres it was prepared to commit against unarmed civilians in Palestine, Egypt and Lebanon, enabled it to expand from time to time. Although expansionism still lurks in the minds of many Israelis, it would seem that this is no longer a practical option. Lebanese and Palestinian resistance has forced Israel to withdraw unilaterally from lands it had previously occupied through war and aggression. While in the past Israel was able to defeat several Arab armies, today it faces formidable resistance that will not only check its expansionism but also, in time, force it to relinquish more of the land that it illegally occupies.

KL: What are your principal goals? Is Hamas primarily a political or a religious organisation?

KM: Hamas is a national liberation movement. We do not see a contradiction between our Islamic identity and our political mission. While we engage the occupiers through resistance and struggle to achieve our people's rights, we are proud of our religious identity that derives from Islam. Unlike the experience of the Europeans with Christianity, Islam does not provide for, demand or recognise an ecclesiastical authority. It simply provides a set of broad guidelines whose detailed interpretations are subject to and the product of human endeavour (ijtihad).

KL: Are you committed to the destruction of Israel?

KM: What is really happening is the destruction of the Palestinian people by Israel; it is the one that occupies our land and exiles us, kills us, incarcerates us and persecutes our people. We are the victims, Israel is the oppressor, and not vice versa.

KL: Why does Hamas support military force in this conflict?

KM: Military force is an option that our people resort to because nothing else works. Israel's conduct and the collusion of the international community, whether through silence or indifference or actual embroilment, vindicate armed resistance. We would love to see this conflict resolved peacefully. If occupation were to come to an end and our people enabled to exercise self-determination in their homeland, there would then be no need for any use of force. The reality is that nearly 20 years of peaceful negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis have not restored any of our rights. On the contrary, we have incurred more suffering and more losses as a result of the one-sided compromises made by the Palestinian negotiating party.

Since the PLO entered into the Oslo peace deal with Israel in 1993, more Palestinian land in the West Bank has been expropriated by the Israelis to build more illegal Jewish settlements, expand existing ones or construct highways for the exclusive use of Israelis living in these settlements. The apartheid wall that the Israelis erected along the West Bank has consumed large areas of the land that was supposed to be returned to the Palestinians according to the peace deal.

The apartheid wall and hundreds of checkpoints turned the West Bank into isolated enclaves like cells in a large prison, which makes life intolerable.

Jerusalem is constantly tampered with in order to alter its landscape and identity, and hundreds of Palestinian homes have been destroyed inside the city and around it, making thousands of Palestinians homeless in their own homeland. Instead of releasing Palestinian prisoners, the Israelis have arrested an additional 5,000 Palestinians since the Annapolis peace conference in 2007 - actions that testify to the fact they simply aren't interested in peace at all.

KL: Does Hamas engage in military activity outside Palestine?
KM: No; since its establishment 22 years ago, Hamas has confined its field of military operation to occupied Palestine.

KL: Do you wish to establish an Islamic state in Palestine in which all other religions are subordinate?

KM: Our priority as a national liberation movement is to end the Israeli occupation of our homeland. Once our people are free in their land and enjoy the right to self-determination, they alone have the final say on what system of governance they wish to live under. It is our firm belief that Islam cannot be imposed on the people. We shall campaign, in a fully democratic process, for an Islamic agenda. If that is what the people opt for, then that is their choice. We believe that Islam is the best source of guidance and the best guarantor for the rights of Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

KL: Does Hamas impose Islamic dress in Gaza? For example, is it compulsory in Gaza for women to wear the hijab, niqab or burqa?

KM: No. Intellectually, Hamas derives its vision from the people's culture and religion. Islam is our religion and is the basic constituent of our culture. We do not deny other Palestinians the right to have different visions. We do not impose on the people any aspects of religion or social conduct. Features of religion in Gaza society are genuine and spontaneous; they have not been imposed by any authority other than the faith and conviction of the observant.

KL: It is suggested that the division in the Palestinian people between the West Bank and Gaza and between Fatah and Hamas, which obviously weakens their position, came about because Hamas seized power by force in Gaza. Is this true and how do you explain this division?

KM: Undoubtedly, division does weaken the Palestinians and harms their cause. However, the division is caused not by Hamas, but by the insistence of certain international and regional parties on reversing the results of Palestinian democracy. It dismayed them that Hamas was elected by the Palestinian people.

The division is compounded by the existence of a Palestinian party that seeks empowerment from those same regional and international parties, including the US and Israel, that wish to see Hamas out of the arena. Soon after its victory in the election of January 2006, every effort was exerted to undermine the ability of Hamas to govern.

When these efforts failed, General Keith Dayton, of the United States army, who currently serves as US security co-ordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority, was despatched to Gaza to plot a coup against the Hamas-led national unity government that came out of the Mecca agreement of 2007. The plot prompted Hamas in Gaza to act in self-defence in the events of June 2007. The claim that Hamas carried out a coup is baseless because Hamas was leading the democratically elected government. All it did was act against those who were plotting a coup against it under the command and guidance of General Dayton.

KL: Do those of other political or religious views such as Fatah enjoy democratic freedoms in Gaza? What is the situation of Hamas members in the West Bank territories controlled by Fatah?

KM: Some Palestinian factions have been inspired by Arab nationalism, others by Marxism or Leninism, and others by liberalism. While we strongly believe that these ideas are alien to our people and have failed to meet their aspirations, we insist that the people are the final arbiter on whom they wish to lead them and by which system they desire to be governed. Thus, democracy is our best option for settling our internal Palestinian differences. Whatever the people choose will have to be respected.

We endeavour to the best of our ability to protect the human rights and civil liberties of the affiliates of Fatah and all the other factions within the Gaza Strip. In contrast, the Palestinians in the West Bank under Israeli occupation and the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah continue to be denied their basic rights. General Dayton is in the West Bank supervising the ¬severe and brutal crackdown on Hamas and other Palestinian groups. More than 1,000 political prisoners, including students, university professors and professionals in all fields are hunted down, detained and tortured, sometimes to death, by the US-, British- and EU-trained and -sponsored Palestinian Authority's security force.

KL: Do you believe it is possible to reunite the Palestinian people? If so, how do you think this could be done and within what kind of timescale?

KM: It is possible to reunite the Palestinians. In order for this to happen two things are needed. First, foreign interventions and demands must stop. The Palestinian people should be left to deal with their own differences without external pressure. Second, all Palestinian parties must respect the rules of the democratic game and submit to the results of its process.

KL: Hamas's refusal to recognise Israel is frequently cited as an insuperable obstacle to negotiations and a peace settlement.

KM: This issue is only used as a pretext. Israel does not recognise the rights of the Palestinian people, yet this is not raised as an obstacle to Israel being internationally recognised nor to it being allowed to take part in talks. The reality is that Israel is the one that occupies the land and possesses superior power. Rather than ask the Palestinians, who are the victims, it is Israel, who is the oppressor, who should be asked to recognise the rights of the Palestinians.

In the past, Yasser Arafat recognised Israel but failed to achieve much. Today, Mahmoud Abbas recognises Israel, but we have yet to see any of the promised dividends of the peace process.

Israel concedes only under pressure. In the absence of any tangible pressure on Israel by the Arabs or by the international community, no settlement will succeed.

KL: Do you have a "road map" of interim steps which could realistically lead to a peaceful settlement of the conflict? Do you think Jews, Muslims and Christians can one day live together in peace in the Holy Land?

KM: We do, in Hamas, we believe that a realistic peaceful settlement to the conflict will have to begin with a ceasefire agreement between the two sides based on a full withdrawal of Israel from all the territories occupied in 1967. Israeli intransigence and the lack of will to act on the part of the international community are what ¬impede this settlement. We believe that only once our people are free and back in their land will they be able to determine the future of the conflict.

It should be reiterated here that we do not resist the Israelis because they are Jews. As a matter of principle, we do not have problems with the Jews or the Christians, but do have a problem with those who attack us and oppress us. For many centuries, Christians, Jews and Muslims coexisted peacefully in this part of the world. Our society never witnessed the sort of racism and genocide that Europe saw until recently against "the other". These issues started in Europe. Colonialism was imposed on this region by Europe, and Israel was the product of the oppression of the Jews in Europe and not of any such problem that existed in the Muslim land.

KL: What role do you think that other countries and organisations, in particular the US, EU and Britain, are currently playing in the Israel/ Palestine conflict and the divisions between the Palestinians?

KM: The role played by all these has thus far been negative. The attitude towards Israeli crimes against our people has been either silence or collusion. The policies and positions adopted by these parties have contributed to the Palestinian division or augmented it. On the one hand, conditions are stipulated that have the effect of torpedoing unity talks and reconciliation efforts.
