"I could comment that since the US wants to kill Iranians AND Iraqis in ... well, it doesn't matter just where.

But what is really going on here is the old double-shuffle. Bush/Neocons/Israel can't sell you a new war with Iran. The lies abut 'nookular' bombs didn't work this time. So the plan is clearly to try and sell you the idea that we are ALREADY at war with Iran, and of course it is Iran's fault the US is doing so poorly in Iraq and Afghanistan, so that driving over the border and bombing the crap out of Iran is just a formality in an already ongoing conflict.

Those that argue against a new war with Iran will be accused of being cowards; of wanting the US to "surrender" in a war already underway."

What is China SUPPOSED to do? Open the gates and roll out the red carpet for our invading hordes?"

"Iraq: U.S. has no claim to oil boom
As Congress gears up to debate the Bush administration's latest request for an additional $108 billion in war funding for Iraq and Afghanistan, Iraqis are fuming at suggestions being floated by lawmakers that Baghdad should start paying a share of the war's costs by providing cheap fuel to the U.S. military.

"America has hardly even begun to repay its debt to Iraq," said Abdul Basit, the head of Iraq's Supreme Board of Audit, an independent body that oversees Iraqi government spending. "This is an immoral request because we didn't ask them to come to Iraq, and before they came in 2003 we didn't have all these needs."

"As a new article by investigative reporter Christopher Ketcham reveals, a governmental unit operating in secret and with no oversight whatsoever is gathering massive amounts of data on every American and running artificial intelligence software to predict each American's behavior, including "what the target will do, where the target will go, who it will turn to for help".

The same governmental unit is responsible for suspending the Constitution and implementing martial law in the event that anything is deemed by the White House in its sole discretion to constitute a threat to the United States. (this is formally known as implementing "Continuity of Government" plans).

As Ketcham's article makes clear, these same folks and their predecessors have been been busy dreaming up plans to imprison countless "trouble-making" Americans without trial in case of any real or imagined emergency. What kind of Americans? Ketcham describes it this way:

And they want UNCONSTITUTIONAL retro-immunity for their crimes, huh?

What does it matter?

Watch this Congress cave again over the summer!

"The Bush administration is refusing to disclose internal e-mails, letters and notes showing contacts with major telecommunications companies over how to persuade Congress to back a controversial surveillance bill, according to recently disclosed court documents.

The existence of these documents surfaced only in recent days as a result of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by a privacy group called the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The foundation (alerted to the issue in part by a NEWSWEEK story last fall) is seeking information about communications among administration officials, Congress and a battery of politically well-connected lawyers and lobbyists hired by such big telecom carriers as AT&T and Verizon. Court papers recently filed by government lawyers in the case confirm for the first time that since last fall unnamed representatives of the telecoms phoned and e-mailed administration officials to talk about ways to block more than 40 civil suits accusing the companies of privacy violations because of their participation in a secret post-9/11 surveillance program ordered by the White House.

Except it wasn't a post 9/11 program!!!

Bush's Wiretapping Began BEFORE 9/11!! and the New York Times Admits Bush Administration Spying Began in December of 2000... BEFORE TAKING OFFICE!

At the time, the White House was proposing a surveillance bill—strongly backed by the telecoms—that included a sweeping provision that would grant them retroactive immunity from any lawsuits accusing the companies of wrongdoing related to the surveillance program....

The debate over a new surveillance authorization is likely to be complicated by figures showing sharp increases in the government's electronic eavesdropping on U.S. citizens.... Later this week another report is expected to also show increases in secret wiretaps and break-ins approved by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) in terror and espionage cases. But even these secret wiretaps and break-ins—estimated to be about 2,300—tell only part of the story. They don't include other secret methods the government uses to collect personal information on U.S. citizens.

"‘D.C. Madam’ Kills Herself, Police Say "

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) -- A woman police believe to be convicted Washington escort service operator Deborah Jeane Palfrey committed suicide, officials said Thursday.

Police said the body was found in a shed near Palfrey's mother's home Thursday morning. There was a suicide note, but police did not disclose its contents or how she killed herself.

Police said they were trying to confirm the woman's identity, but did not immediately have additional comment when reached by telephone. Palfrey's attorney, Preston Burton, did not return a telephone call and e-mail message.

The District of Columbia U.S. attorney's office, which spent years investigating and prosecuting Palfrey, was aware of the media reports and was awaiting confirmation from law enforcement, said spokeswoman Channing Phillips.

Police did not immediately have additional comment when reached by telephone. Palfrey's attorney, Preston Burton, did not return a telephone call and e-mail message.

Palfrey was convicted April 15 by a federal jury of running a prostitution service that catered to members of Washington's political elite, including Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican.

She had denied her escort service engaged in prostitution, saying that if any of the women engaged in sex acts for money, they did so without her knowledge.

She was convicted of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering. Palfrey faced a maximum of 55 years in prison and was free pending her sentencing July 24.

Prosecutors said Palfrey operated the prostitution service for 13 years.

Her trial concluded without revealing many new details about the service or its clients. Vitter was among possible witnesses, but did not take the stand.

Vitter, a first-term senator who is married and has four children, has acknowledged being involved with Palfrey's escort service and has apologized for what he called a ''very serious sin.'' But he avoided commenting further.

One of the escort service employees was former University of Maryland, Baltimore County, professor Brandy Britton, who was arrested on prostitution charges in 2006. She committed suicide in January before she was scheduled to go to trial.

Last year, Palfrey said she, too, was humiliated by her prostitution charges, but said: ''I guess I'm made of something that Brandy Britton wasn't made of.''

Yeah, it was a "suicide," I'm sure!!!

"For Exxon Mobil, $10.9 Billion Profit Disappoints"

"by JAD MOUAWAD

Published: May 1, 2008
Exxon Mobil, the world’s largest publicly traded oil company, said Thursday that its first-quarter net income rose 17 percent, boosted by surging oil prices.

But even as it posted the second-most profitable quarter in its history, Exxon’s earnings managed to disappoint investors because of a drop in oil production. Shares were down about 5 percent Thursday after the company missed earnings estimates by a dime a share.

Record oil prices have lifted corporate profits to new heights throughout the industry but they are also masking an increasingly tough business environment for international oil companies, marked chiefly by rising development costs and stagnating hydrocarbon production. In the refining business, profit margins have plummeted as refiners have been unable to pass through all the increases in oil prices onto gasoline.

Extraordinary profits are also turning into a real, if somewhat incongruous, embarrassment of riches. Rising gasoline and diesel prices have ignited resentment among drivers and truckers, and are threatening to create a backlash against oil companies that could be especially resonant in an election year.

BP, Royal Dutch Shell and ConocoPhillips all reporting big gains this week. Most of these gains came as oil prices averaged nearly $100 a barrel in the first quarter, compared with $58 in the period a year ago. They recently rose to close at $120 a barrel.

But in a rare slip, Exxon did not do as well as its rivals. The company said that its net income in the first quarter was $10.9 billion or $2.03 a share, up from $9.3 billion, or $1.62 a share a year ago. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial had forecast $2.13 a share.

After the earnings were released, the stock dropped as low as $89.41 after closing at $93.07 in regular trading Wednesday.

William A. Featherston, an analyst at UBS, said the results were “disappointing” compared with those of BP and Shell.

In particular, investors focused on a drop in production from Exxon’s operations, because of a nationalization of its assets in Venezuela, declines in the United States and Canada and lower volumes in Africa.

Exxon’s oil output dropped almost 10 percent to 2.47 million barrels a day compared with last year, as production declined in every region of the world except for Russia and the Caspian region. Production of natural gas rose by a little more than 1 percent to 10.2 billion cubic feet a day.

The company’s combined oil and gas production fell by almost 6 percent, to 4.18 million barrels a day in the first quarter.

“Deeply concerned about future energy supply, the market wants growth, growth and growth,” Paul Sankey, an analyst with Deutsche Bank, wrote in a note Thursday morning. “Exxon Mobil does not offer that right now.”

While energy companies have no control over the price of oil, which is set on international futures markets, they have benefited from the rally in commodity markets. Exxon, for example, earned over $163 billion from 2003 to 2007. Oil prices more than quadrupled during that period.

But because of how some contracts are structured, international companies must give a larger share of the oil they produce back to the host governments as prices rise. In addition, the higher prices have sparked a wave of energy nationalizations from Russia to South America, that has left Western oil companies with a smaller footprint to operate.

The higher prices have also translated into sharp inflation in the industry, with drilling and production costs more than doubling in recent years. As a result, oil companies have been struggling to increase their oil and gas production.

In the United States, the political attention has been increasingly focusing on the impact of high energy costs on the economy and on pocketbooks. The Senate blocked a $15 billion extra tax on oil companies late last year but calls for a windfall profit tax will probably to re-emerge this year.

Few energy specialists expect prices to fall this year. Retail gasoline sells for $3.62 a gallon on average, according to AAA, the automobile club, up from around $3 last year. Diesel sells for $4.25 a gallon on average.

Oil futures for June delivery fell $3.03 to $110.43 in New York trading Thursday.

Exxon, viewed with admiration within the industry for its spending discipline and skills at managing complex projects, has not been immune to the schizophrenic nature of the current market.

From 2002 to 2006, Exxon spent more than $15 billion each year for oil and gas production and development. Its capital expenses last year rose to $21 billion, and they should average between $25 billion and $30 billion from 2008 to 2012.

Meanwhile, the company’s hydrocarbon production has been nearly flat in recent years.

In the first quarter, Exxon bolstered its spending on capital and exploration projects by 30 percent, to $5.5 billion.

Earnings from exploration and production increased 45 percent, to $8.79 billion.

Exxon said that lower refining margins had dropped by $1 billion in the last quarter, pushing its profits from refining operations down 39 percent, to $1.17 billion from the quarter a year ago. The drop in profitability was partly offset by improvements from operations of $350 million. Exxon sold 6.8 million barrels a day of petroleum products, down 377,000 barrels a day.

The company said Wednesday that it would pay a cash dividend of 40 cents a share, an increase of 14 percent compared with last year. The company has raised its payments to shareholders for the past 26 years. Last year, it paid out $7.62 billion in dividends.

Since the merger between Exxon and Mobil was completed, in November 1999, the stock has risen nearly two and half times, valuing the company at about $498 billion. Exxon’s shares outperformed the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index over the last year, rising 18 percent while the index fell 7 percent.

The results fell shy of the Exxon’s fourth quarter — its most profitable ever — when it had net income of $11.7 billion, or $2.13 a share.

Exxon continued its longstanding program to buy back its shares. In the first quarter, the company spent $8 billion to reduce the number of its shares. Including dividend payments, the company gave $9.9 billion to shareholders, up $1.1 billion from last year."

Where Are the War Daily Posts?

You may be wondering that, readers. There are so few of them this morning (other than the memory holes to prove points).

You may be wondering if I purchased and read one for analysis (no); if I neglected to visit their web sites (no); if read their articles (yes, at least some that interested me).

So what is it then? Why so few war daily posts?

I think the reason can be summed up by page 3 of my local (which they drop on the stoop). The problem is, my local is a podunk, crabapple, bit burg nowhere, and yet they are picking up AP.

Readers, there is NO EXCUSE for my little poop local (who won't print my letters, even if I sent them. been there, done that) to be BETTER than the New York Times or Boston Globe!!

The only answer is that the BIG CITY WAR DAILIES are PUSHING an AGENDA and CENSORING NEWS!!!!

As the examples today, I'll cite three stories:

A) Iraq. The local AP pick-up gives me the number of Iraqis reported (so far) killed last month. Readers, I'm looking right at it and the report says

"at least 1,080 Iraqi civilians and security forces were killed nationwide this month, an average of 36 a day, according to an AP tally. That's down from March's total of 1,269, or an average of 41 per day (Associated Press)."

That's 36+ souls a day ripped from this world, readers!!!

That's progress??

And, readers, March's toll first it was reported as
923 dead, then they raised the figure to 1,720, and now it is OVER 2,000?!?!

Kind of nice I keep track of this stuff for you, huh?

See if you can find that 1,080 number in the
Times or Globe piece, readers. I'll wait.

And Iraqi deaths went down as American deaths went up, huh?

That can't be good!

By the way, readers, the number of Iraqis killed by the surge has been around 300 per day, 10,000 per month -- with 1.2 million Iraqis dead since the invasion.

B) Iran. You already see what the
Times had to say about them in the Iraq link (pffft)! Here's what the Globe had to offer.

Then I get this in my local:

"Marine Lt. Gen John Sattler... "It's in Prime Minister Maliki's hands right now, the evidence as to whether or not he's been lied to -- bald-faced lied to -- by the Iranian government (Associated Press)."

Excuse me, some American general said that about the IRANIAN GOVERNMENT?!?

Well, excuse me, sir, but WHAT the HELL are YOU DOING OVER THERE?!?

Where are the WMDs, and the "nook-u-lar" bombs?

Fuck you, general!!! STAY THERE and DIE for the LIES, 'kay?!?!

Then you got the spook CIA asshole Hayden adding this

"Iran's policy is to help kill Americans in Iraq... "In is my opinion, it is the policy of the Iranian government, approved at the highest level of that government, to facilitate the killing of Americans in Iraq."

Oh, you mean like
TORTURE, asshole?!?!

Now why wouldn't the Globe and Times report those statements?

Especially on the FIFTH ANNIVERSARY of "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!"

Speaking of which, my TV MSM is FULL of IMMIGRANT PROTESTS!!

And I wonder, where is the COVERAGE of the
ANTIWAR PROTESTERS?!?

No, they have been disparaged, denigrated and ignored right from the start by the fucking shit-hole AmeriKan MSM!!!!!!

Fuck them!!!!

LYING, AGENDA-PUSHING DISPENSERS of BULLSHIT PROPAGANDA!!!!!!!!!

And if you don't think this shit-hole asshole is going to attack Iran soon, you aren't paying attention! LOOK at this RHETORIC!!

Hey, good thing the U.S. doesn't kill people when it invades and occupies places (something the Iranians HAVE NOT DONE)!!

C). Afghanistan. While the
Times and Globe report garbage propaganda, my local informs me:

"Giving a U.S. general more control in the south would mark a partial "re-Americanization" of the combat mission."

If you don't think there is going to be a DRAFT (after some "cataclysm"), then you have had your head up your ass too long!!!

"MAYDAY ALERT! -- Terror Drills Could Go Live!"

"by Dr. James H. Fetzer
Major William B. Fox
Captain Eric H. May
SFC Donald Buswell

The name "false flag" comes from the old pirate's ruse of flying another country's flag during an attack, thereby shifting blame for the attack to a party that had nothing to do with it. Governments use false flag attacks to push their nations into dictatorship or war. As military experts, we fear that national terror drills, scheduled for May 1-8, could be used to camouflage a false flag attack in the United States.

Strategic Signals

Yesterday an American-flagged ship fired on the Iranian Navy, and now Pentagon sources say that they have been ordered to prepare attack plans. Admiral "Fox" Fallon, the Centcom commander who opposed war with Iran, has been ousted in favor of Bush loyalist General David Petraeus, who has spent the last month accusing Iran for our increasing problems with the Iraqi resistance.

Saudi Arabia has been preparing for nuclear fallout from an attack on Iran since last month, when Dick Cheney paid a visit. Israel has just finished its largest-ever domestic war drills. Israel and the Bush administration are insisting that Syria and North Korea are nuclear collaborators. Syria is preparing for the contingency of an Israeli attack. Iran is preparing for the contingency of a US attack. US government insiders speculate that Bush has promised Israel an expanded Middle East war before he leaves office.

The Neo-Cons are pounding their war drums again, according to Dr. James H. Fetzer, the founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, and he believes that nothing would help them spread their imperial war in the Middle East as much as another 9/11.

He has just published "9/11 and the Neo-Con Agenda." link to www.amfirstbooks.com The article is a must-read introduction for anyone wanting to understand the origins and aims of the " global war on terror."

Domestic Discord

Inside the US, Bush approval ratings are well below 30%, and approval ratings for the U.S. Congress and mainstream media are even lower. Over three quarters of the American people believe that the country is on the wrong track, and just as many want to end the quicksand war in the Middle East. The economy is crashing as fuel prices are skyrocketing. The Establishment is losing its grip on power. It would take another 9/11 to make the nation forget its domestic woes and resume its lost zeal for the Neo-Con "new American century" of foreign wars and a domestic police state.

In his much-discussed February article, "False Flag Prospects, 2008," http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/08/02/25/may.htm Captain Eric H. May documented the disturbing fact that military and police exercises were occurring at the same time as the 9/11 US attacks in 2001 and the 7/7 UK bombings in 2005. In that prescient article, he designated the Pacific Northwest as one of the top three target zones for the next US false flag attack, and the Pacific Northwest will be the target of terror drills May 1-8.

Should a major event occur during the drills, the Bush administration is prepared to implement National Security Presidential Directive (NSPD) 51, which establishes dictatorship "in the event of a man-made or natural catastrophe." It is an extraordinary measure, and the White House has stonewalled Homeland Security Committee members from the House of Representatives who wanted to read it. One of those members, Oregon's Peter DeFazio summed up the feeling of many Americans about NSPD 51 when he said "Maybe the people who think there's a conspiracy out there are right."

Fears that a false flag attack might result in martial law are nourished by last week's militaristic Operation Sudden Impact, reported by Infowars.net writer Steve Watson: "Three States Subjected to Martial Law Sweeps" http://www.infowars.net/articles/april2008/180408impact.htm

National Level Exercise 8-02

NLE 2-08 will involve the very highest levels of Homeland Security and the US Northern Command. Both "Homesec" and "Northcom" were established by the Bush administration in the wake of 9/11 to take control of the nation in the event of another terrorist attack. They will be joined by FEMA in the May 1-8 exercise, which is one of the two largest terror drills scheduled this year.

On Thursday, May 1, the exercise begins in Washington, when an explosion collapses the Alaska Way viaduct in downtown Seattle and damages surrounding buildings. Twenty minutes later, terrorists explode a highjacked tanker ship filled with highly toxic chemicals at the Seattle Ferry Terminal. Deadly gas soon permeates downtown Seattle.

Emergency responders come in waves. Police and firemen, first to arrive, are quickly overwhelmed. The state deploys its 22-member Civil Support Team, a National Guard unit, to assess the damage and coordinate support. Later, 100 soldiers from a chemical battalion based in Yakima arrive to rescue, decontaminate and treat survivors. Finally, 5,000 troops arrived to handle logistics and security.

On Monday, May 5, the scenario shifts to Oregon where VX, the most toxic nerve agent ever synthesized, erupts from the Umatilla Army Depot.

The next day, terrorists blow up a chemical tanker in Ferndale, Washington. The county sheriff requests national support, and a Marine Corps chemical warfare detachment from Ft. Lewis, Washington responds.

According to sources at Northcom, NLE 2-08 will involve "robust play," with "surprise injects" of unanticipated events in which participants are "stretched to the limit" and have "everything thrown at them except the kitchen sink." All of this makes it easier for the exercise to "go live" by having a real catastrophe occur.

As the Pacific Northwest scenario is playing out, Washington, DC will be simulating a catastrophic hurricane as part of the same exercise. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to suggest that this puts Dick Cheney back in the bunker he occupied during 9/11.

Citizens interested in understanding how local, state and national levels of the military can be manipulated into working against us should read "The Real Drill" by Major William B. Fox, about Portland area terror drills last year. http://www.lonestaricon.com/absolutenm/anmviewer.asp?a=2006&z=186

Mission of Conscience

Many American citizens are deeply concerned about police militarization, and about government and media preconditioning of our nation for future terror attacks and martial law. We recommend that they monitor NLE 2-08 closely. Armed with cell phones, cameras and the Internet, they are the single greatest deterrent against false flag terror.

If we, the co-authors of this alert, are in error about anything, then we invite reasonable officials to investigate us and our assertions at the very highest levels. In the past we have too often met with hostility, evasion or deception by officials involved in terror drills. We have been stonewalled when we have requested access to an extended schedule of unclassified military and police terror drills.

We believe that there is a pattern of official retaliation against patriotic service members who ask questions about 9/11 and false flags.

In 2006, Sergeant First Class Donald Buswell, an Army military intelligence NCO, suggested that 9/11 might have been a false flag operation. Within a month the decorated 40-year-old Iraq war veteran suffered a freak pulmonary embolism, which nearly killed him. After he was released from the hospital, his command accused him of disloyalty for his remarks, and subjected him to an extensive military investigation. Ultimately, he was fully exonerated, and the now-retired Buswell has become widely known on the Internet as the "9/11 NCO." Stephen Webster, writing for The Lone Star Iconoclast, gained national attention with his story about Buswell, "Under Fire! U.S. Army Intelligence Analyst Targeted for Suggesting New Independent 9/11 Investigation." http://www.lonestaricon.com/absolutenm/anmviewer.asp?a=426&z=40

The duty to keep the government honest isn't optional for those of us who have taken an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It has always been difficult, and even dangerous, to serve the American people. We call on all active-duty soldiers, police and first responders to obey their oaths by asking questions that need to be asked, and by thinking twice before blindly carrying out orders that may result in an a false flag attack against their country. We urge leaders of those soldiers, police and first responders to explain that diligence is not disloyalty, and that no one ceases to be a free American citizen by putting on a uniform.

Issuing an alert -- as we are doing now -- is not an instance of "crying wolf," as Bush administration apologists often assert. As military-trained experts, we are convinced that the US 9/11 and UK 7/7 attacks were set up under the camouflage of terror drills. The existence of a wolf is not in question. The wolf of false flag terror has killed our fellow citizens and frightened our country into needless wars. It's our mission of conscience to keep it from striking again.

The overall exercise scenario unfolds as a Category 4 hurricane threatens the National Capitol Region (NCR) while events in the Pacific Northwest include terrorist attacks involving weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in the state of Washington and an accidental release of a chemical agent at chemical stockpile facility in Umatilla, Oregon. The scenario culminates with the hurricane's imminent landfall combined with a credible terror threat to the NCR which causes the federal government to invoke continuity plans and capabilities.

Continuing to Sell the Globing Warming Lie

It was freezing yesterday, and overnight it was 32 degrees out.

Yup, these global-warming cultists have an excuse for everything!

"In a New Climate Model, Short-Term Cooling in a Warmer World"

".... The authors stressed that the pause in warming represented only a temporary blunting of the centuries of rising temperatures that scientists have projected if carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases continue accumulating in the atmosphere.

“We’re learning that internal climate variability is important and can mask the effects of human-induced global change,” said the paper’s lead author, Noel Keenlyside of the Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences in Kiel, Germany. “In the end this gives more confidence in the long-term projections.”

Sigh! Even though the evidence is pointing the other way, we are sure things will work out as we are saying.

Haven't you had enough of that shit with Iraq, Americans?

.... To get a computer-generated simulation of the climate for the 1990s, for example, the model ran from the 1950s through the 1980s, with sea temperatures adjusted to reflect the real world, then ran without further inputs for 10 more years.

The model is a rough replica of conditions, the scientists said. While it reliably reproduced climate patterns in Europe and North America, the model could not replicate patterns over central Africa, for example.

In e-mail exchanges, several climate experts not associated with the study expressed a variety of views on the new cooling forecast. But they agreed that the work served the important function of at least trying to chart what will assuredly be a winding climatic journey toward a generally warmer world....

And don't you DARE QUESTION the RECEIVED ORTHODOXY!!

The global climate will continue to be influenced in any particular decade by a mix of natural variability and the building greenhouse effect, said Kevin Trenberth, a climate scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo.

I've seen ans d read that the phenomena is all-natural anyway!

He said efforts to build forecasts by mixing modeling and measurements were vital in a world with rising populations in places where poverty leads to vulnerability from climate-related threats like flooding and famine.

It should also help the public and policy makers understand that a cool phase does not mean the overall theory of human-driven warming is flawed, Dr. Trenberth said...."

I get tired of it, readers, I really do!

Yeah, we know the evidence contradicts what we are saying, but we are right anyway!

Screw you liars!

May Day Memories: The Global War for Oil and Empire

(Updated; originally posted May 1, 2007)

Think of this as you are gassing up at the pump, readers.

It is ONE MORE REASON the price of gas is so high.

How come NO ONE CALLS for SHUTTING DOWN the WAR MACHINE to save fuel, readers?

"Pentagon study says oil reliance strains military; Urges development of alternative fuels" by Bryan Bender, Globe Staff | May 1, 2007

WASHINGTON -- A new study ordered by the Pentagon warns that the rising cost and dwindling supply of oil -- the lifeblood of fighter jets, warships, and tanks -- will make the US military's ability to respond to hot spots around the world "unsustainable in the long term."

So what, they'll need EVEN MORE $$$$?

FUCK THAT!!

Let's SCRAP the WHOLE THING since 9/11 was an INSIDE JOB!

The study, produced by a defense consulting firm, concludes that all four branches of the military must "fundamentally transform" their assumptions about energy, including taking immediate steps toward fielding weapons systems and aircraft that run on alternative and renewable fuels. It is "imperative" that the Department of Defense "apply new energy technologies that address alternative supply sources and efficient consumption across all aspects of military operations," according to the report, which was provided to the Globe.

Weaning the military from fossil fuels quickly, however, would be a herculean task -- especially because the bulk of the US arsenal, the world's most advanced, is dependent on fossil fuels and many of those military systems have been designed to remain in service for at least several decades....

Georgie's "Generational" Wars?

Pentagon advisers believe the military's growing consumption of fossil fuels -- an increasingly expensive and scarce commodity -- leaves Pentagon leaders with little choice but to break with the past as soon as possible. Compared with World War II, according to the report, the military in Iraq and Afghanistan is using 16 times more fuel per soldier.

Milton R. Copulos , National Defense Council Foundation president and an authority on the military's energy needs:

"We have to wake up. We are at the edge of a precipice and we have one foot over the edge. The only way to avoid going over is to move forward and move forward aggressively with initiatives to develop alternative fuels. Just cutting back won't work."

Wake up? I can't fucking sleep!!!

The Pentagon's Office of Force Transformation and Resources, which is responsible for addressing future security challenges, commissioned LMI, a government - consulting firm, to produce the report. Called "Transforming the Way DoD Looks at Energy," the study is intended as a potential blueprint for a new military energy strategy and includes a detailed survey of potential alternatives to oil -- including synthetic fuels, renewable biofuels, ethanol, and biodiesel fuel as well as solar and wind power, among many others.

They just never learn, do they?

The military is considered a technology leader and how it decides to meet future energy needs could influence broader national efforts to reduce dependence on foreign oil. The report adds a powerful voice to the growing chorus warning that, as oil supplies dwindle during the next half-century, US reliance on fossil fuels poses a serious risk to national security....

The Department of Defense is the largest single energy consumer in the country. The Air Force spends about $5 billion a year on fuel, mostly to support flight operations. The Navy and Army are close behind. Of all the cargo the military transports, more than half consists of fuel. About 80 percent of all material transported on the battlefield is fuel.

I think shutting down the war machine would help gas prices, no?

The military's energy consumption has steadily grown as its arsenal has become more mechanized and as US forces have had to travel farther distances.

Translation: As we built an EMPIRE!

In World War II, the United States consumed about a gallon of fuel per soldier per day, according to the report. In the 1990-91 Persian Gulf War, about 4 gallons of fuel per soldier was consumed per day. In 2006, the US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan burned about 16 gallons of fuel per soldier on average per day , almost twice as much as the year before.

One wonders how much fuel and cost the U.S. burned up this past year; remember, readers, this is a year-ago memory hole!

Higher fuel consumption is a consequence of the US military's changing posture in recent years. During the Cold War, US forces were deployed at numerous bases across the world; since then, the United States has downsized its force and closed many of its former bases in Asia and Europe.

And DRIVING the price of gas up, no doubt, so EITHER WAY, WE ALL PAYIN!!!!

And so what?

We have over 700 bases in over 130 countries!

It's a "close one, open two (secretively) policy!

The National Defense Strategy, which lays out the Pentagon's anticipated missions, calls for an increased US military presence around the globe to be able to combat international terrorist groups and respond to humanitarian and security crises....

Hello, E-ron (Iran)!! Say it right, will you, 'murkns?

The costs of relying on oil to power the military are consuming an increasing share of the military's budget, the report asserts.

But they will still get all the money they need, while you get a bowl of shit, 'murkns!

Energy costs have doubled since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, it says, and the cost of conducting operations could become so expensive in the future that the military will not be able to pay for some of its new weapon systems.

That damn bin Laden!

And YAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!

Ensuring access to dwindling oil supplies
also carries a big price tag. The United States, relying largely on military patrols, spends an average of $44 billion per year safeguarding oil supplies in the Persian Gulf. And the United States is often dependent on some of the same countries that pose the greatest threats to US interests.

Saudi Arabia, right?

So what? It is all a FRAUD, anyhow!

You see what is important, right, readers?

Kind of sums things up in a shell-nut, huh?

"Court Backs Police in Chase That Hurt Driver" by LINDA GREENHOUSE

WASHINGTON, April 30 — The police did not violate a speeding driver’s rights by ramming his car and causing an accident that left him permanently paralyzed, the Supreme Court ruled on Monday by a vote of 8 to 1.

Hmmmmm!

Writing for the majority, Justice Antonin Scalia said that despite the fact that the 19-year-old driver was suspected of nothing more than speeding, the decision to force him off the road was reasonable in light of the need to protect pedestrians and other drivers from “a Hollywood-style car chase of the most frightening sort.”

Well, if they ain't chasin' him, then there ain't no "Hollywood-style car chase of the most frightening sort," is there, judge?

The justices took the unusual step — a first for the court — of posting on the court’s Web site the 15-minute video of the chase, recorded by a camera mounted on the squad car’s dashboard....

The constitutional issue in the case concerned the Fourth Amendment, which prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures. There was no dispute that Sheriff’s Deputy Timothy Scott “seized” Mr. Harris, in constitutional terms, when he rammed his car from behind, sending it down an embankment. The resulting accident left Mr. Harris a quadriplegic.

That means ALL FOUR LIMBS PARALYZED, readers.

The question, as in any Fourth Amendment case, was whether the seizure was “reasonable” under the circumstances....

So what were they?

Originally clocked at 73 miles an hour on a 55 m.p.h. four-lane road, Mr. Harris led the police on a 10-mile chase over two-lane roads at speeds of up to 83 m.p.h.... Mr. Harris argued that the police had his license number and could have avoided more danger by abandoning the chase....

They had his PLATE # (sigh)?!!

The appeals court said that a jury could find that the case was governed by a 1985 Supreme Court precedent on the use of deadly force by the police against a fleeing suspect and that the jury could reasonably find that the police behavior in this case was unreasonable....

Justice Scalia said the videotape demonstrated the danger posed by the efforts of the driver, Victor Harris, to elude the police on a narrow and winding Georgia road. Justice Scalia added that the federal appeals court in Atlanta... should have viewed the tape with more care rather than accept Mr. Harris’s version of how the chase proceeded.

Lecturing a lower court! What an ARROGANT SHIT!

Scalia: “[His] benign description of his actions during the chase, which gave the impression that he was 'attempting to pass his driving test' rather than fleeing the police, was 'blatantly contradicted by the record so that no reasonable jury could believe it.' [His] was a threat to the public, [and] posed 'an extreme danger to human life.'”

WTF you talking about, torture judge?

Weren't you ever a teen-aged boy who wanted to drive fast and ran from the cops?

Scalia: "The rule of the case is that 'a police officer’s attempt to terminate a dangerous high-speed car chase that threatens the lives of innocent bystanders does not violate the Fourth Amendment, even when it places the fleeing motorist at risk of serious injury or death.”

Scalia, in response to Harris's argument that police had his license number and could have avoided more danger by abandoning the chase:

"Such an outcome would give a 'perverse incentive' to fleeing motorists who would 'get away whenever they drive so recklessly that they put other people’s lives in danger. In any event, it was Mr. Harris 'who intentionally placed himself and the public in danger' and gave the police 'the choice between two evils' that they confronted.”

Yeah, BLAME the VICTIM and give the STATE "SECURITY" SERVICES carte blanche to RUN ANYONE off the ROAD!

Kid have any drugs or alcohol (answer is no)?!

It is obvious in the videotape that Deputy Scott and the other officers involved in the chase were taken aback by its devastating end. Worried voices can be heard calling to Mr. Harris and summoning an ambulance.

Oh, NOW THEY WORRY!! WTF?!

What has happened to OUR POLICE?!

Who destroyed Johnny Flatfoot?

The kid is PARALYZED FOR LIFE!!

The One Good Judge

Justice John Paul Stevens, the lone dissenter, said that to the contrary, jurors could well have concluded that the late-night chase endangered no pedestrians, since there were none, and no other motorists, since the police sirens warned other cars to pull off the road:

“The Court has usurped the jury’s fact-finding function. Whether a person’s actions have risen to a level warranting deadly force is a question of fact best reserved for a jury.”

FUCK Scalia!! THIS is what the tape showed?!

The kid is paralyzed over SPEEDING the STRIP late at night?

This is America, right?

Justice Stevens, with evident sarcasm, referring to the other justices:

“My colleagues on the jury. While Mr. Harris’s offense — speeding, refusing to stop and fleeing — was a serious one, it was not, however, a capital offense, or even an offense that justified the use of deadly force rather than an abandonment of the chase.”

Yup, pull over and take your fram..., I mean beat..., I mean fine and detention if you don't show your papers, or we'll KILL YA!!!

Yeeeeee-haaaaaaa!!!!

"More than 130 Taliban militants killed in Afghanistan" by Fisnik Abrashi Associated Press | May 1, 2007

SANGIN VALLEY, Afghanistan: British troops on Monday pushed into a Taliban stronghold awash with opium poppies, drawing mortar and machine-gun fire, in the latest NATO drive to help the government take control of southern Afghanistan.

As Operation Silicon got under way, the U.S. military reported killing 136 rebels during three days of clashes in the once-stable west, the deadliest fighting in the country since January.

"Once-stable west?" Uh-oh! WE LOSIN'!

The operation in the southern province of Helmand and the bloodshed in the western province of Herat show how Taliban militants have been able to regroup in the five years since a U.S.-led invasion drove them from power.

But it also shows how the growing number of foreign troops and Western-trained Afghan forces are confronting the militants in their rural heartlands.

This sounds like ridiculous propaganda one year later -- which is exactly what it was and is!!!

The British soldiers quickly came under fire as they filtered among the mud-walled compounds and deep irrigation ditches of the militant-held lower Sangin Valley in Helmand. An Associated Press reporter saw the troops respond with artillery and fire from helicopter gunships.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in what NATO said was the latest installment of Operation Achilles, its biggest-ever anti-Taliban maneuver, which began in March.

How many Operations we got going at a given time?

However, the separate U.S.-led coalition forces said they killed 87 militants during a 14-hour engagement, including airstrikes on Taliban positions, in the Zerkoh Valley of Herat province on Sunday.

Another 49 suspected Taliban were killed two days earlier by a combination of gunfire and an airstrike....

"Suspected?" But we really don't know, do we?

They are ALL Taliban, aren't they?

The bloodshed enraged locals. About 500 people gathered in front of the police station and government headquarters in the nearby town of Shindand on Monday, claiming the dead were civilians and chanting, "The Americans are killing us. We are innocent!"

What we REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need to do at this point is APOLOGIZE PROFUSELY to these people, and then DO WHATEVER THEY WANT US TO DO!

Some of the protesters were armed and opened fire on the government offices, breaking windows, before the crowd dispersed.

The fighting appeared to be the bloodiest in the west since the ouster of the Taliban regime in late 2001. It was also the deadliest nationwide since NATO said it killed about 150 suspected Taliban crossing from Pakistan in January."

But things are always getting better in Afghanistan!

"U.S. Says Raids Killed Taliban; Afghans Say Civilians Died" by ABDUL WAHEED WAFA

KABUL, Afghanistan, April 30 — United States Special Forces said they killed more than 130 Taliban in two recent days of heavy fighting in a valley in western Afghanistan. The American military said that the fighting against the Taliban occurred Friday and Sunday in the Zerkoh Valley, near the Iranian border about 30 miles south of the city of Herat, and that the Special Forces called in airstrikes on at least two occasions.

Forty-nine
Taliban fighters, including two leaders of the group, were killed in the first bombardment on Friday, and 87 militants were killed in bombing during a second battle on Sunday that raged for 14 hours.

The province of Herat, where the fighting occurred, is usually quiet, but the Zerkoh Valley is populated by ethnic Pashtuns and shares a border with provinces where there are many insurgents.

Hundreds of angry villagers protested
in nearby Shindand on Monday, saying dozens of civilians had been killed when the Americans called in airstrikes.

The protesters sacked and burned government buildings... a number of protesters were hurt as the police and the army moved in to subdue the crowd.

Yup, our "liberators" will not only murder you with fire bombs delivered by air mail, but we will BEAT George W. Bush's liberation into you!

Local residents said that civilians were killed in the bombardment and that some drowned in the river as they fled, according to a local member of Parliament, Maulavi Gul Ahmad. News agencies reported that demonstrators said women and children were among the dead.

Oh, Good Lord!! Oh, Fatima!

The horror! The HORROR!!!

Mr. Ahmad condemned the bombing and said that the fighting angered local residents because the Americans raided their houses at night.

“They should not do that,” he said in a telephone interview. “The number that they claim — that 130 Taliban were killed — is totally wrong. There are no Taliban there.”

Raiding houses touches a nerve
in Afghanistan, especially in conservative tribal areas, because the local custom dictates that men who are not family members cannot enter the parts of homes where the women stay.

Whose nerves wouldn't the house-raiding touch? AmeriKans?

And as for the custom, I LIKE IT!!!!

Such raids were upsetting local sensibilities so much several years ago that the American forces made an agreement with the Afghan government that they would not raid houses without the presence of Afghan elders or the police. The Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission says that the agreement is still in effect, but that American troops do not always adhere to it.

Yup, winning hearts and minds all right!

Or OBLITERATING THEM, more likely!

O' may God forgive this nation and us!

"5 Convicted in London Bomb Plot" by DAVID STRINGER Associated Press | May 1, 2007; 5:33 PM

LONDON -- Five al-Qaida-linked men were sentenced to life in prison Monday for plotting to bomb a nightclub, power plants and a company doing work in Iraq -- a plan that exposed links between their terror cell and the suicide bombers who attacked London's transit system in 2005.

The five were convicted... after a yearlong trial in which prosecutors and an FBI informant claimed the group was linked to al-Qaida leaders. It was Britain's longest terror case.

Here we go again!! Always some FBI provocateur in the middle of it!

Surveillance teams
tracking the five men stumbled onto the transit attackers over a year before they killed 52 commuters on July 7, 2005, but officials failed to piece together intelligence in time to halt the blasts.

More like MONITORING their PATSIES!

Though agents slipped a tracking device on transit bombing ringleader Mohammed Siddique Khan's car and heard him pledge to carry out violence against non-Muslims during bugged conversations, Britain's MI5 spy agency halted surveillance -- deciding he was not a priority....

And we now know why, readers.

The revelations are at odds with statements by Britain's government after the 2005 attack, when senior ministers -- who a month earlier had lowered the country's alert status -- said the strike was unexpected and the perpetrators unknown....

Translation: THEY LIED!

And then they LIED SOME MORE!

"5 Britons Guilty; Tied to 2005 London Bombers" by JANE PERLEZ and ELAINE SCIOLINO

LONDON, April 30 — A jury found five British Muslim men guilty on Monday of planning fertilizer-bomb attacks around London, ending a yearlong trial that linked the plotters with two of the four men who blew themselves up on London’s transit system in July 2005.

According to the evidence, revealed during the trial but made public for the first time on Monday, authorities had closely monitored meetings in 2004 between members of the two plots but never fully investigated the men who pulled off the transit attacks, which killed 56 people. To ensure a fair trial, the judge had ordered the news media not to make the information public until after the verdict.

That's because they were WORKING FOR THEM!

The disclosure turned a victory for British authorities into a day of hand-wringing and recriminations over whether they had missed an opportunity to prevent the deadliest terrorist attack in the country’s history.

(Author just shaking his head)

Within an hour of the verdict, the opposition Conservative Party and survivors and relatives of the victims of the transit attack demanded an investigation into why the authorities did not act on their surveillance.

We know why (Al-CIA-Duh)!

“Whether deliberately or not, the government have not told the British public the whole truth about the circumstances and mistakes leading up to the July 7 attacks,” said David Davis, the spokesman on counterterrorism for the Conservative Party....

Definitely DELIBERATE!

For its part, MI5, the domestic intelligence agency, a famously secretive organization, went public to defend itself, saying on its Web site on Monday that it had never been “complacent” in investigating the 2005 transit attacks.

Yeah, the term is COMPLICIT!

Last week, the head of MI5, Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, retired and was replaced by Jonathan Evans, a Qaeda specialist. The agency said the change was unrelated to the disclosures from the investigation, which the authorities named Operation Crevice.

That law enforcement authorities knew of a connection between the two groups is especially embarrassing because three days after the 2005 attacks, Charles Clarke, then the Home Secretary, said they “simply came out of the blue.”

Translation: The "authorities" LIED!

The order by the judge, Sir Michael Astill, to keep the links between the groups secret was lifted Monday, as the jury delivered the verdicts after 27 days of deliberations.

The men were convicted of conspiracy to cause explosions by using 1,300 pounds of fertilizer stashed in a storage facility. Six of the seven men on trial are of Pakistani descent; the five who were convicted are British citizens.

There's that word again -- only applicable when they are prosecuting PATSIES!

Among their potential targets, the prosecution said, was a major suburban shopping center, a busy London nightclub known as the Ministry of Sound, public utilities and a British airliner, all places mentioned by the plotters in conversations the authorities had taped.

Judge Astill sentenced the five to life imprisonment, saying, “You have betrayed the country that has given you every advantage in life.”

What about the government facilitators who directed the "attack?"

The ringleader, Omar Khyam, 25, an ardent cricket player, grew up in a secular Muslim household in West Sussex, just outside London....

??

The surveillance evidence brought to light in the trial — including hours of audio tapes — showed that Mr. Khyam, the leader of the plot, had met several times with the leader of what have become known as the 7/7 attacks, Mohammad Sidique Khan....

Do you know about
Mr. Khan, readers? Khan is MI5!

Mr. Khyam said Pakistan’s intelligence agency was involved in running training camps focusing on Kashmir that he attended in 2000. In one of the trial’s most dramatic moments, Mr. Khyam abruptly broke off his testimony to say that Pakistan’s intelligence agency had contacted his family in Pakistan and intimidated them. He did not offer any proof.

That organization, the Inter-Services Intelligence agency, is supposed to be one of Pakistan’s crucial organizations in helping the United States hunt down Al Qaeda.

I can hardly keep from busting a gut on that one!

Another Crevice defendant... told the jury that he had been held for 10 months by the Pakistani intelligence agency and subjected to torture.

He confessed only after being physically and mentally abused by the Pakistanis, he said. A videotape was played during the trial of [him] telling the British police of the Crevice plot immediately after he was brought back to Britain from Pakistan.

TORTURE WORKS!!!

Overall, Scotland Yard said the Crevice operation involved thousands of police and intelligence officers and a huge effort of telephone bugging, human surveillance and videotaping.

It was that surveillance web that also picked up the two July 7 plotters: Mr. Khan and Shehzad Tanweer. Britain’s MI5 domestic intelligence service followed the two men, photographed them and even listened in on Mr. Khan’s conversations.

But the agents never fully investigated either of them, deciding they were not a terrorist threat but rather “petty fraudsters in loose contact with members of the plot,” MI5 said Monday on its Web site.

On a number of occasions in February and March 2004, MI5 agents monitored Mr. Khan and Mr. Tanweer interacting with the Crevice suspects....

It's called a SET-UP!

Investigators monitored the Crevice suspects so closely that they had placed a bug in Mr. Khyam’s car.

In the most telling conversation in Mr. Khyam’s car, on Feb. 21, 2004, Mr. Khan gave the impression that Mr. Khyam was a more senior operative than he.

“Are you really a terrorist?” Mr. Khan asked Mr. Khyam, according to a transcript of the conversation read in court.

Mr. Khyam replied, “They are working with us.”

To that, Mr. Khan asked again, “You are serious, you are basically?”

“I am not a terrorist; they are working through us,” Mr. Khyam said.

Mr. Khan replied, “Who are? There is no one higher than you.”

Gee, WHOM could he be referring to, readers?

The exchange has raised questions about whether the group was receiving guidance and support from another group or individuals, perhaps Al Qaeda operatives based in Pakistan.

Or MI5?

The men also discussed carrying out fraud operations and holding up banks in Britain before they would flee to Pakistan. Mr. Khyam suggested they were not coming back.

“This one-way ticket, bruv, yeah?” Mr. Khyam asked Mr. Khan, adding, “You’re going to leave now, you might as well rip the country apart economically as well.”

Mr. Khyam also said: “All the brothers are running scams. All the brothers that are leaving are doing it.”

Right, blame the "terrorists" for economic mismanagement.

In the conversation on Feb. 21, 2004, Mr. Khan said he intended to travel to Pakistan to join Arab fighters to fight abroad, and he debated whether to wait until his wife gave birth to their child so he could say goodbye.

That is NOT the profile of a "suicider."

There were other occasions during the Crevice investigation in which both of the London suicide bombers came into the sights of MI5 agents.

On Feb. 2, 2004, the agents, using audio and visual devices, spotted Mr. Khan and Mr. Tanweer at a gas station about 40 miles north of London with Mr. Khyam and his younger brother, Shujah.

On Feb. 28, MI5 agents tailed Mr. Khan and Mr. Tanweer in Mr. Khan’s green Honda Civic for 15 hours as they drove behind the Khyam brothers.

Among their destinations were a McDonald’s in Crawley, a kebab take-out restaurant in Slough and Mr. Khyam’s home. The four men later went to an Internet cafe, where they spent the evening.

Whatta bunch of patsies!! Went to a McDonalds?

Anti-American jihadis? STOP with the LYING!!!!

On March 23, intelligence agents again watched Mr. Khan and Mr. Tanweer and the two Khyam brothers as they drove in a two-car convoy. Mr. Khyam and Mr. Khan discussed passports, how to raise money fraudulently from as many banks as possible and the trip to Pakistan, according to a closed pretrial hearing.

Seven days later, more than 700 police officers raided several sites, shutting down what they suspected was a cell and arresting 18 people, six of them the Crevice defendants.

But the police apparently never searched the home of Mr. Khan or Mr. Tanweer, according to police briefings to journalists.

Why would they? Those guys MI5!!!

Testimony in the Crevice trial showed that Mr. Khan was involved with the Crevice plotters not only in Britain, but also in Pakistan....

After the Crevice arrests, Mr. Khan attended two other military training camps in Pakistan before carrying out the 2005 bombings. But since he was not under surveillance, his movements went unnoticed.

Classic behavior regarding a western-intel asset!

The prosecution’s star witness in the Crevice trial was Mohammed Junaid Babar, a Pakistani American who was arrested in New York and agreed to a plea bargain in exchange for his testimony....

Little CONFLICT of INTEREST there, no?

During his testimony, Mr. Babar, who was attacked as a liar by the defense, said that Mr. Khyam had told him that he and the other “brothers” were not just a local operation but that they reported to a man he described as the No. 3 in Al Qaeda, Abdul Hadi al-Iraqi.

American officials said it was possible that he is the same man who they acknowledged last week was in custody at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. It was plausible, they said, that he had met some of the Crevice plotters when they visited training camps in Pakistan. But the officials said it was unclear exactly what role, if any, Mr. Iraqi had played in planning either the Crevice plot or the 2005 attacks.

Mr. Babar said that Mr. Khyam told him that Mr. Iraqi gave the orders on how they should behave on their Malakand pilgrimage. The camp was a formative experience, he said. “Prior to the camp, the guys were joking around and using slang,” he said. “After the camp, the guys were talking jihad, praying and quoting the Koran. They were saying, ‘Let’s go kill’ ” the infidel."

Like they were BRAINWASHED, right?

May Day Memories

Once again, stunningly creative drawings go with the post:

"Long time passing….. May Day has become nothing more than the 1st of May in many countries, Israel included. It was once the day the workers of the world took to the streets and demanded their rights…

Has that been achieved? Has the Working Class finally gotten its fair share?
