Ron Paul and the C(IA)NN "Debate"

It was Romney vs. McCain, wasn't it, readers?

I don't know because I didn't watch it.

I don't watch MSM television or purchases its newspapers anymore, so I don't know what's going on, right?

All I do is surf the blogs.

"Ron Paul Cheated Again During CNN "Debate"; Corporate media engages in mass public deception as Congressman receives just a third of the questions given to Romney and McCain"

by Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Thursday, January 31, 2008

Ron Paul was cheated for the umpteenth time last night, this time by CNN, as the corporate media once again engaged in mass public deception by advertising their spectacle as a "debate" when in fact it was nothing more than a staged punch and judy show.

CIA trainee Anderson Cooper directed just five questions at Congressman Paul as well as two half-questions, the answers to which he interrupted on both occasions.

In comparison, Mitt Romney fielded 17 questions and John McCain got 15, not including the time the two spent bickering with each other about their past statements.

Again, just as with the previous MSNBC debate and numerous others before it, Ron Paul was given less than a third of the questions as the other candidates. The primary definition of a debate is, "A discussion, as of a public question in an assembly, involving opposing viewpoints."

Since Ron Paul is the only candidate expressing opposing viewpoints, the corporate media's deliberate ploy to relegate, marginalize and restrict his opportunities to speak amounts to overt public deception. These farces should not be referred to as debates because they are merely PR stunts that are conducted with a deep-seated bias towards the establishment candidates.

As we have repeatedly emphasized, this is how frontrunners are created, this is how the establishment promotes its own candidates at the expense of others. The only solution is to continue to strike at the root of America's corporate media monopoly by creating our own forms of media and eventually eclipsing their influence which, slowly but surely, is beginning to happen with the aid of the Internet.

Here's the breakdown of Paul's participation time courtesy of the Lew Rockwell blog.

Question 1 on the economy: 1:19 minutes

Question 4 on the environment: 0:41 minutes, because Anderson cut him short and assured him "2 minutes, in 2 minutes we have a question for you. I promise"

Question 5 on income tax rebates and "make work" schemes: 0:49 minutes
Question 11 on Sandra Day O'Conner: 0:09 minutes, I kid you not. Cut short by Anderson

Question 15* on McCain's "100 years in Iraq" statement: 1:39 minutes (only question directly asked to Dr. Paul)

Question 18* on how X would handle the military as commander in chief: 1:50 minutes

Question 19* on a Reagan endorsement: 0:46 minutes

The highlight of the night came when Ron Paul slammed the punch and judy spat between McCain and Romney over Iraq, both of whom fully support endless occupation, with the Senator making it clear this week that a McCain presidency would mean more wars.

Watch it below.

"Ron Paul shortchanged on debate time again

Lew Rockwell
Thursday January 31, 2008

LRC reader Joe Black clocked it:

Total time, in minutes and seconds, that Dr. Paul got to speak tonight. Out of, roughly, 1 hour and 22 minutes of "debate." Anderson Cooper cut Dr. Paul short twice.

Here is a break down of Dr. Paul's participation time:

* These question numbers are guesses because I lost track after McCain and Romeny were playing slap ass with each other over the Iraq war technicalities and time tables for withdrawal. That was, of course, followed up by a gem by Dr. Paul that made both those guys look like the idiots they really are.

And despite all this, RON PAUL WON!!!!!!!!!

"Ron Paul wins CA Republican Debate, Super Tuesday Surge?

Stu Norman
point spreads
Thursday January 31, 2008

The last televised Republican Debate before Super Tuesday took place at the Ronald Reagan Library in California and once again Ron Paul won. BodogLife.com has Ron Paul listed at 50 to 1 odds to become the President of the United States in 2008. Paul wanted to get more airtime for his “anti-war” and “change” message in the Republican debate and he was getting just a little irritated that Anderson Cooper kept the McCain/Romney ping pong match going on for so long. Does Anderson Cooper realize Paul has outlasted Former New York City Mayor and Senator John Edwards in the quest of the 2008 White House.

Once he finally got a chance to speak, the Texas Congressman stated, "You can keep borrowing from China and printing the money to stimulate the economy.”

McCain agreed with Ron Paul about borrowing money from China but did not say how he would continue to fight the wars abroad. Huckabee did not like that Ron Paul was sitting between him and the two media darling front running candidates. With only 4 people left in the race, Ron Paul was able to get a little more attention on center stage but the media still gave the majority of the questions to McCain and Romney.

The Federal Reserve reduced short-term interest rates on Wednesday for the second time in eight days. The rate cut was welcome news on Wall Street which was expecting aggressive action by the Fed. In lowering its benchmark Federal funds rate by half a point, to 3 percent, the central bank acknowledged that it is now far more worried about an economic slowdown than rising inflation, and it left open the possibility of additional rate reductions. For all of 2007, GDP grew 2.2%, the slowest growth since 2002. GDP increased at a 2.9% rate in 2006. Economists expect tepid growth to persist through the first half of the year.

When asked about the economy, Senator McCain seem to stumbled and looked uncomfortable. Ron Paul thrives on the topic of the economy but unfortunately won’t get the backing of the Republican establishment. It is clear that McCain’s strength is foreign affairs and the former P.O.W. wants to talk about the military and fighting terrorist more than the economy. The only problem with that is 61% of Americans say they believe the country is in a recession. Paul sounded the strongest when discussing the economy.

McCain said he is a federalist that believes the states know what is best for its citizens. While McCain’s current stance on internet gambling is unclear, the Arizona Senator has been endorsed by former New York Senator Alfonse D’Amato, current Chairman of The Poker Players Alliance (PPA). The endorsement could be a sign that the Poker Player Alliance is making some head way against the current “War on Internet Gambling” taking place in Washington. The best case scenario for the internet gambling industry is for the illegal federal ban to get lifted and then individual states would get to decide if it should be legalized and regulated.

The Poker Players Alliance is an American nonprofit Interest group of over 840,000 members that was formed "to speak with one voice to promote poker, ensure its integrity, and, most importantly, to protect the players' rights." The PPA formed to serve as an advocacy group to Washington in order to establish a legal framework of rights and protections for United States online poker players.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will officially endorse Senator John McCain today. The Republican establishment is starting to rally behind the Arizona Senator while BodogLife.com has McCain the favorite with 2 to 11 odds to win the most Republican Primaries on Super Tuesday. With Rudy Guiliani’s campaign infrastructure on the ground in California and Governor Schwarzenegger’s endorsement, McCain is looking strong to close in on a win in the Golden State.

Mitt Romney was very hospitable to McCain initially but took a jab at him for being too liberal. Romney wants to pander to the conservatives.

"I bet the Arizona Republican will be endorsing me," stated John McCain as he took a stab at the former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. McCain was endorsed by the Boston Herald, Romney's home town newspaper.

There are 21 state primaries up for grabs on Super Tuesday (February 5th, 2008). BodogLife.com has posted political betting odds on which Republican candidate will win the majority of primaries on Super Tuesday (Feb. 5)?

John McCain: 2/11

Mitt Romney: 5/4

Mike Huckabee: 35/1

Ron Paul: 60/1

While
I appreciate the blogger's sentiment, those odds are likely correct.

When you have RIGGED ELECTIONS reported by PROPAGANDA ORGANS called "NEWS ORGANIZATIONS," there is no way Ron Paul will do well on Shitter Tuesday.
